And after fulfilling all top 8 positions except for 1st and 6th since 2001, this finally did it for her! It won by just 2 points over 2nd placer Ace Wilder, and whilst she’s entered a good few tunes to MF this really did feel like the right one and I’m kind of glad she failed all those times because it led her to this! As always, Sanna’s vocals are epic throughout but the huge chorus just soars higher than anything she’s ever done. It’s a shame that she couldn’t win the whole shebang in Copenhagen but she did come 3rd and to be fair Common Linnets crept up so sneakily so it was good to see an underdog do well (and Netherlands always fail at Eurovision :lol:) plus Conchita’s performance was such a moment and a statement that she felt like the right winner (both amazing songs tbf). -------- So it’s finally the top 2! any guesses? It’ll be revealed tomorrow! Well, today technically given it's gone midnight but you know what I mean.

For someone who came 6th in her series of X Factor, Ella has had an amazing 2014! This reached #1 for 3 weeks in the UK and has sold a million already, plus her album reached #1 and has been certified double platinum. The instrumental is perfect and pretty unique, the lyrics are hugely relatable and Ella’s excellent voice elevates this song to heights that no X Factor alum has reached since Alexandra Burke’s hugely infectious debut Bad Boys (sorry Little Mix, DNA and Move still slay). It’s no wonder that it’s been such a success, it deserves all of it and more! So it’s a TOTAL SHOCK (:kink:) #1 for… 01 Taylor Swift - Shake It Off UK peak: #2 US peak: #1 My peak: #1 (1-1-1-1-3-2-4-5-7-7-8-10-12-15-15-16-16)*still charting // 17wks OF COURSE. Taylor has done the double, claiming the album of the year with 1989 and now the single of the year with the lead single Shake It Off :wub: The announcement for this era was such a moment, topped off the fact Shake It Off’s digital and video release was at the same time! I couldn’t stop playing this, it’s so different for Taylor and yet fits her so perfectly - especially the self parodying lyrics :lol: This is such an excellent earworm of a pop song, every second is a treat and it’s no wonder this was such a hit worldwide! I’m still annoyed this couldn’t be a #1 over here because of her aversion to Spotify etc. but it’s gone platinum and is still in the top 20! Such a happy, catchy, singable track <3 It has too much competition to be her best song ever, but it’s a solid 14/10 moment tbh.

February 1, 201510 yr eek forgot about all of the people finishing off their EOY's after mid-jan. :( apologies! shake it off is definitely a worthy winner, such an infectious pop tune. our school bus plays heart all the time and it sticks in my head all day. she went and topped it with blank space but this is still a 10/10 moment. dark horse is amazing too, the final chorus with all the ad libs just gets me every time. i love the trap element too, can't see this ever dropping out of her top 3 for me. even juicy js rap is pretty decent.
