Robbie is nominated for the International Hit of the Year for the Ivor Novello awards. Robbie was up for International Hit of the Year with Feel and that was massive, so I am very pleased that he is still getting this type of reconignition with Stephen Duffy even if he does not win it.

At least the music industry still see how popular he is 10 years later. One in the eye I suspect to some of them.

Ivor Novello Awards.

Chris Martin`s band are up for three awards, with Fix You nominated for Best Song Musically and Lyrically, and Speed of Sound for International Hit of the Year and Most Performed Work.

Former Army captain Blunt`s ballad You`re Beautiful is in the running for International Hit as well as Most Performed Work.

The Arctic Monkeys` breakthrough single I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor has been nominated for Best Song Musically and Lyrically.

The four-piece band from Sheffield are not fans of award ceremonies but their nomination is a sign of the remarkable success of the group who shot to fame thanks to a devoted internet following.

The Monkeys will do battle with Scottish singer KT Tunstall`s Suddenly I See, as well as Coldplay`s Fix You in the Best Song Musically and Lyrically category.

Leeds band the Kaiser Chiefs, who like the Monkeys, KT Tunstall, Blunt and Coldplay, were winners at this year`s Brit awards, are up for Best Contemporary Song with I Predict A Riot.

They will compete for the title with Damon Albarn`s animated band Gorillaz, who are up for the award for their single DARE, and south London band Athlete, with Wires.

Other nominees announced today are Robbie Williams` 2005 single Tripping, which is up for International Hit of the Year, and Natalie Imbruglia`s Shiver which is up for Most Performed Work.

Williams, like David Bowie, Kate Bush, Eric Clapton, John Lennon, Annie Lennox, Paul McCartney and George Michael, is a former Ivor Novello winner. The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe, and Pride And Prejudice are both nominated for Best Original Film Score.

The Novello awards are the flagship event of the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters, the trade association for UK music writers.

David Ferguson, head of the Academy, said: "At a time when music is getting disseminated across more and more platforms, at a time when more music is getting stolen than ever before, at a time when music is becoming increasingly ubiquitous in modern life, then it is critical to honour and reward the people who write and initiate the music we all enjoy.

"Technology is transforming the creative arts in many ways but it`s a truism that we take for granted, music cannot exist without the endeavour and inspiration of songwriters."

Other titles, such as Best-Selling UK Single, International Achievement, Album and Contribution to British Music, will also to be presented on the day of the 51st Ivor Novello Awards, at The Grosvenor House hotel in London`s Park Lane on May 25.

Coldplay Top UK Rich List

by Tim Cashmere

April 24 2006

Let's face it, even the most hardened of us anti-tabloid crusaders can't help but be curious as to a band's earnings. So let's have a look at how the Brits have been doing in the past year or so and Coldplay looks good.

According to the Daily Mirror, these solo artists and bands were the highest earners in the UK last year. To qualify for the list you have to have your finances based in the UK or Ireland (which is how Kylie was included).

Coldplay £37m

U2 £35m

Madonna £35m

Elton John £30m

The Rolling Stones £28m

Sir Paul McCartney £25m

Rod Stewart £22m

Sting £20m

Queen £18m

Pink Floyd £15m

Sir Tom Jones £11m

Oasis £9m

Robbie Williams £9m

Depeche Mode £7m

Kylie Minogue £7m

James Blunt £5m

Jamiroquai £4.5m

Westlife £4m

Joss Stone £3m

Bee Gees £2.5m

Other notable music related entries include American Idol host Simon Cowell, who earned a staggering £15m and former pop star Billie Piper who earned £1.5m for her role on the latest Dr. Who series.

Which means that if you're the Bee Gees, you get paid pretty damned well for not doing a whole lot… same with Tom Jones. Being a knight of the British Empire doesn't necessarily translate to financial success and naming your kids after really arbitrary objects could quite possibly translate into financial success.

He only earned £9 million last year? No wonder he's had to go back on the Road. ;)

POP'S NO1 AT FUNERALS

POP songs are taking over from hymns at funerals.

People want Robbie Williams and Frank Sinatra, a survey today reveals.

Less than one in four request a religious service.

Crematorium operator Westerleigh Group found 92 per cent want a celebration of their life.

Boss Richard Evans said: "We have to cater for an increasing range of styles."

Most popular songs:

1 Angels

2 Always Look On The Bright Side of Life

3 My Way

4 Wind Beneath My Wings

5 You'll Never Walk Alone.

 Love the 2nd choice!

That list is very strange. How on earth did Tom Jones make 11 million. He has'nt done ANYTHING is years, Rob on the other hand has sold 6 million of IC and sold nearly 3 million tour tickets

I know what you mean.

I think the old codgers on the list have so much money that the interest alone earns them a fortune. It certainly ain't from record sales (or Royalties in TJs case).

Maybe he gets £10 million a night to appear in Vegas or something?

It was reported that Robbie paid himself 11million last year..before any tour and royalties from IC come in. This time next year you will see his stock rise significantly.

Yip. I think it takes a fair bit of time for record sales/tour proceeds to filter through.

Next year his earnings will be about £1 billion....

The Sunday Times Rich List for 2006 had him with 'assets' of £90 million ( not including money in personal bank accounts) :o

these figs are for the end of the financial year 2005/6. Robbie did receive 11 million in the last quarter of the financial year which I think was October. So The Times is not quite right with there figures for Robbie, they cannot rob him of 6 million LOL.

This year Robbie's earnings will rise significantly for due to his tour and his IC album royalties for the financial year for 2006/7- He will also receive a bonus for selling over 5 million copies. Robbie will be well in excess of over, well over, £100 million in the next quarter set of figures. Plus he will get an income from his company he set up with EMI called 'The In Good Company' those figures will be another boost to his earnings for him and should show up in the 3rd quarter of the year's figures (I think) If my memory is not letting me down.

Anyway not bad for a boy band member who was sued by Nigel Martin Smith, not allowed to perform for a whole year until Gary Barlow had got his singles and albums released and left with not much money at all.

I hope he feels very proud of himself. :cheer:

'Robbie WILL join us'

GARY BARLOW has confirmed ROBBIE WILLIAMS will join TAKE THAT on tour just as I told you.

And I can also reveal it wont be a one-off gig.

I promised you ten days ago that Robbie would perform live with the boys at their Manchester homecoming.

And, hot and sweaty off stage from their opening night in Newcastle on Sunday, Gary told me: Robbie is doing more than one gig.

I dont know which dates, but he has told MARK OWEN he is definitely coming back.

Robbie appeared as a hologram in Newcastle singing Could It Be Magic after he re-recorded his vocals.

Gary added: It was our idea to do the hologram and Robbie was well up for it. We worried people would be disappointed when Rob didnt appear from behind the hologram, but it went down well.

The lads told me they enjoyed the first night so much they are planning a new album and a European tour next year.

And JASON ORANGE revealed they want Robbie to collaborate on the CD.

HOWARD DONALD, Gary, Mark and Jason have already written new tracks and want to release the material in time for Christmas.

Jason said: It would be great if Rob wrote with us. We let Gary write all the songs before and he walked away with all the money.

This time its going to be an equal split as it should have been the last time around.

Robbie returns ... Williams will appear at gigs

http://img309.imageshack.us/img309/548/cibm1tu.gif

I heard the boys new single Today Ive Lost You written before the split in 1995 at the Newcastle gig and it was typical old school Take That.

But Gary says the new album will have a fresh sound.

He said: After the tour we can put our full concentration into it. I want it to be released by Christmas. Another Christmas No1 would be perfect.

He added: The opening night was fantastic. We did the right thing getting back together. If we are still enjoying it this much at the end of the tour well be around for a few years yet.

Sounds like they really are Back For Good.

There is alot of coverage about Robbie joining TT again, which is good PR for both of them. :)

Robbie's secret dance album

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e272/handsomeman/0200619042200.jpg

Mover ... Robbie has been penning dance tracks

ROBBIE WILLIAMS is secretly recording a dance album – and plans to release tracks under a false name.

The singer has already been in the studio with dancefloor favourites the PET SHOP BOYS and also MADONNA’s super producer WILLIAM ORBIT.

He has recorded a couple of tracks with each of them and some others with hot New York-based DJ MARK RONSON.

Robbie told pals he wanted to make a “Kylie-style†album with more upbeat pop/dance tracks.

He is planning to release songs featuring the new sound under a pseudonym before putting the album out in August this year.

A source close to Robbie said: “Rob’s last album Intensive Care was much more rocky with heavy guitar riffs. Some people around him felt it might not have appealed so much to his camp pop audience. So he decided to do a dance album.

“Rob went into the studio with William Orbit to work on some tracks then also with Pet Shop Boys NEIL TENNANT and CHRIS LOWE.

“He wanted the album to have really upbeat songs like the ones Kylie had on Fever, such as Can’t Get You Out Of My Head.â€Â

Orbit co-wrote and produced Madonna’s multi-million selling Ray Of Light album in 1998, which gave the Queen Of Pop a new electronica sound and reignited her career.

He also wrote the classic hit Pure Shores for recently reformed girl band ALL SAINTS.

The Pet Shop Boys are hot property too, doing a belting remix of Madge’s past single, Sorry, and with a new album of their own, Fundamental, out next month.

One music industry source who has heard Robbie’s newly recorded tracks described them as “brilliant and differentâ€Â.

The new dance project comes on top of a busy year for the singer.

I told you yesterday how Robbie will turn up to perform with his old mates in TAKE THAT at some of their Manchester dates.

He is also rehearsing for his own world tour, which kicks off in Britain later this year.

And he’s training like mad for next month’s Soccer Aid.

Robbie is leading a team of footie-mad celebs in a televised pre-World Cup match to raise money for Unicef.

He will also perform a set at POSH and BECKS’ World Cup ball for charity.

My source added: “Rob has no idea how to relax, so he keeps himself busy with work.â€Â

No Lazy Days ahead for Rob then.

I am not keen on this at all. The reason i like Rob is because he does'nt releases alot of camp cheesy c**p pop songs apart from Rock Dj. I perfer Rockier Robbie cause it's more raw. He will be laughed at if he releases anything that sounds like Kylie or Madge. He is supposed to want to be taken seriously as an artist and not be like other pop stars so if he releases loads of cheesy dance rubbish than i won't be happy at all. :(

A rock album is what i want. I have always thought of Rob as more of a rock star cause his lyrics are fantastic and his songs are'nt cheesy like most other pop stars so i pray this is just one of Newton's bull$h!t stories again

This news perturbs me significantly. I am not best pleased. :smoke: I will need to be having words with Master Robbie...... :arrr:

Oh, I've already voted Yes to the RHCP forum. I love them

I'm not to happy with a dance album either.....but it might be interesting what

Robbie's making of it <_<

And a video with Rob dancing could be great

Just voted for RHCP....they are great. Have them on my tracklist with the CD-Exchange at TRWS

defo vote for RHCP. My son got tickets to see them in Coventry this summer. I think I must have given him the concert bug. He is going to see Robbie this year too, which will be a 2nd time for him. The last time he saw Robbie it was in New Zealand 2001. I remember it well, he asked me to book tickets online and I ended up booking tickets for him in Thailand  whats a couple of thousand miles between them.
