Richard E Grant wants to do star-studded space trip

Actor Richard E Grant is desperate to travel into space with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

The British star is hoping pioneering entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson will invite him to travel on the Virgin Galactic SpaceShip - which is set to rocket into space in 2010.

Grant has confessed he always wanted to be an astronaut and finds the idea of space travel fascinating.

He is quoted in Scotland's Daily Record newspaper as saying: "Ever since I was 12, when I listened to Neil Armstrong's historic words beamed back from the Moon on the radio, it has been an ambition to take a ride into outer space."

Robbie Williams, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Moby are also hoping to be aboard the interstellar trip.

Tickets are currently being snapped up at £115 000 per passenger.

Re the first story-

What about Colin Firth emerging from the lake in the TV adaptation of Pride and Prejudice? That would get my vote. -_-

And as for the 'Pray' video- I can't remember Robbie even being semi-naked in it. I thought he had dungarees on? I must be thinking of another video. I remember little Marky lolling about in the surf with his shirt off but not Robbie. Maybe he exposed an ankle or something. I am confused.

 At James 'skinny' Blunt coming last in the poll. Cover up, boy!

Re the second story-

I would like to be in a spaceship with Robbie. But Bl**dy Angelina Jolie wouldn't be coming along too. That's a definite.

ROBBIE: I WON'T TOUR WITH TAKE THAT

He snubs lads - but will gig with Pet Shop Boys

Robbie williams has told Take That he's too busy to join their comeback tour-but he WILL take time out to do a gig with the Pet Shop Boys.

The Robster had promised to join Howard, Mark, Gary and Jason on stage for at least one of their concerts. but now he has backed out, telling the lads he has too many other projects on the go.

However, it seems he has got time for the Pet Shop Boys. I can reveal he is recording a dance album with them and will join them

at a hush-hush gig at London's Windmill Theatre tomorrow.

A source close to the Pet Shop Boys told me: "Initially Robbie did want to join the TT boys on the tour-he was quite excited about seeing his fans again. "But time just wouldn't allow it because he has so much going on at the moment.

"However, when the Pet Shop Boys came along and asked him to join them for their one-off gig, he jumped at the chance. He likes to do quirky things and sees this as being right up his street".

Last month it was revealed Robbie would appear with TT at one of their Manchester gigs-although he wanted to keep the exact date under wraps.

But as well as his Pet Shop Boys commitments, Robbie is up to his eyes in rehearsing for his world tour later this year as well as preparations for his new single which is out next month.

He is also involved in Soccer Aid, which will see him do battle on the pitch with celebs and World Cup legends in aid of UNICEF.

His decision to pull out of the tour will be a blow for TT fans who were over the moon that they would get to see the fab 5 back together again.

Robbie sensationally quit TT in 1995. Seems we'll have to wait a while longer to see him bury the hatchet with his old pals.

From the Sunday Mirror today -_-

It's not his groin then? Then again, I wondered why the bandage thing in all the photos was around his knee. Funny place to have your groin, I thought.

SHOWBIZ EXCLUSIVE: HE'S ROOBSTER

Crock star Robbie copies Wayne with an oxygen chamber to get fit for game

By Ben Todd Showbusiness Editor

CROCKED Robbie Williams wants to follow in the footsteps of Wayne Rooney and use an oxygen chamber to heal an injury - so HE can play football for England.

The pop superstar is due to captain the England side for Sport Aid, a charity football match against a Rest Of The World team on May 27. He then heads out on the mammoth four-month 26-date European leg of his world tour.

But 32-year-old Robbie has been struggling to recover from a knee injury which could keep him out of the match and seriously hinder his on-stage dancing for the tour, which begins in Dublin on June 9. As a result, aides for the singer asked Rooney's advice regarding the £6,000 oxygen tank the Manchester United and England star has begun using in his desperate battle to get fit for the World Cup.

Now Robbie hopes to follow suit and use a similar tank twice daily as he battles to get into peak condition for his two summer ambitions.

A close friend of Robbie revealed: "He has been struggling with the left knee injury, and despite a number of different treatments it's not responding as he would have liked.

"Robbie is desperate to be fully fit for the football match and knows he has to be in 100 per cent peak condition for the tour.

"So when he heard about Wayne's oxygen tank, he decided it was the best way forward for him as well and got in touch with Wayne's management.

"He often picks up niggling injuries on tour - so he even hopes to take it with him as he travels around Europe.

"But it's a huge, cumbersome machine and I don't think he realises how difficult it will be to move from gig to gig."

Robbie - a devoted fan and shareholder of Division One side Port Vale - injured his knee last month when he fell down a flight of stairs after a sell-out concert at Dubai's Nad Al Sheba stadium.

He is believed to have tried intensive physiotherapy, Redknapp, acupuncture and even yoga in a bid to get fit. But the injury has not been responding well to treatment.

Wayne Rooney picked up his injury in a tackle with Chelsea defender Paolo Ferreira eight days ago.

He is now using the oxygen tank to speed up the healing process of the broken fourth metatarsal in his right foot.

A source revealed: "Robbie has been made well aware how incredible these machines can be for injuries.

"Like everyone, he's hoping the tank can help Wayne get fit for the World Cup. But he's desperate to be fit himself for Soccer Aid, and his gruelling tour."

The match between Robbie's England side and a Rest Of The World XI led by Gordon Ramsay, a Scot, is set to be a 67,000 sell-out at Man Utd's Old Trafford stadium. The game will be refereed by Ant and Dec and is to be aired live on ITV1. All proceeds will go to charity UNICEF.

Chef Gordon, 39, is certain his Rest Of The World team - which includes Gianfranco Zola, Marcel Desailly and Maradona - will win the game.

But Robbie's side will include former England stars Jamie Redknapp, Paul Gascoigne and David Seaman.

After the game, the singer will embark on the European leg of his Close Encounters tour which will see him play in front of 2.7million people over four months.

It was due to culminate with five nights from September 14 to September 19 at Wembley Stadium, but those dates have been shifted to Milton Keynes Bowl because of Wembley's building delays.

Robbie, who nowadays lives in Los Angeles, will also play two nights at Glasgow's Hampden Park and two nights at Roundhay Park in Leeds.

Robbie Williams becomes Pet Shop Boy

2006-05-08 12:30:02

Robbie Williams has snubbed the Take That comeback tour - to perform with the Pet Shop Boys.

The 'Angels' singer - who was set to join his old band mates for at least one of their forthcoming shows - has backed out saying he's too busy.

The 36-year-old star  has reportedly been spending time recording a dance album with the Pet Shop Boys - and is said to be planning to join the chart veterans for a secret concert in London.

A source told Britain's News of the World newspaper: "Initially Robbie wanted to join the Take That boys on the tour - he was quite excited about seeing his fans again.

"But time just wouldn't allow it because he has too much going on at the moment. However, when the Pet Shop Boys came along and asked him to join them for their one-off gig, he jumped at the chance."

Robbie was recently reported to be recording a "Kylie style" dance album- to please his gay fans.

The 'Let Me Entertain You' singer has reportedly hooked up with Madonna's former producer William Orbit for the project.

He will be pleased

Thought I'd have one final attempt before going to bed. And lo and behold

Pet Shop Boys special gig a triumph

Wednesday, May 10 2006.

The Pet Shop Boys played a one-off gig on Monday at the Mermaid Theatre in London.

The concert was attended by Radio 2 competition winners, as well as celebrities including Elton John.

The band welcomed many guest singers to the stage to perform tracks off their new album Fundamentla, set for release on May 22.

Rufus Wainwright and actress Frances Barber were two of the guest stars, but the one that stole the show was Robbie Williams, who performed the song 'Jealousy' with the group.

I WAS lucky enough to be the only journalist invited to see the PET SHOP BOYS perform an exclusive gig with pals including ROBBIE WILLIAMS on Monday.

NEIL TENNANT and CHRIS LOWE gave a storming 90-minute set with an all-star cast at the Mermaid Theatre in London.

The legendary duo proved It’s A Sin to have been off the stage so long as they belted out their pop classics backed by the 60-piece BBC Concert Orchestra.

The lads also performed tunes from their forthcoming album Fundamental before Robbie took to the stage to sing Jealousy — the first song Neil and Chris penned together.

Crowd pleaser ... Robbie

Neil told me at the aftershow party: “I thought Robbie did a brilliant job. I loved the way he phrased the lyrics.â€

Robbie was equally complimentary. Talking backstage at the Radio 2 concert, he told how honoured he felt and what a huge fan he was of the duo.

Fellow fan SIR ELTON JOHN turned up to soak up the atmosphere with the 600-strong audience, who were also treated to performances by Canadian singer RUFUS WAINWRIGHT and actress/singer FRANCES BARBER.

TREVOR HORN, behind FRANKIE GOES TO HOLLYWOOD hits like Relax, played bass. Hear the gig on Radio 2 on May 27 at 9pm.

Robbie set to play... South Kirkby

Exclusive

By Jo Rostron

INTERNATIONAL superstar Robbie Williams could be gearing up for his world tour next month – in a former pit village in West Yorkshire.

The staging, set and props for the singer's tour next month is currently being put together at a studio in South Kirkby and rumours are rife that the man himself is set to rehearse there sometime soon.

Security is in place at the £2m Northern Studios at Langthwaite Grange Industrial Estate which offers rehearsal facilities for bands before they go on tour.

Alan Bennett, from Show and Events Security, which is hired by Robbie's production team said: "The backing singers are due to come here possibly next week or the week after. Half the stage is being built here, the equipment is getting sent up and they are doing sound checks. Then it will be stripped down next week and shipped to Belgium."

The other part of the stage is being made in Belgium where the whole set will be put together for final rehearsals before the tour kicks off in Dublin on June 9.

Mr Bennett, who is head of security, denied that Robbie Willliams would be coming to the South Kirkby site but said: "All of it is being kept hush, hush."

He added: "We don't want crowds outside."

The studios, which are tucked away on the sprawling industrial estate, are a discreet spot for a wealth of international bands who can rehearse at the major warehouse style venue without attracting attention.

One local shopkeeper, who did not want to be named, said: "The production crews are down here all the time. They come from all over the country and from what we've heard Robbie Williams will be down here next week. Scissor Sisters, Phil Collins and Coldplay have all been down here before – we've never seen them themselves but their crews stay around here in the tour buses so they pop in all the time."

A spokesman for Robbie Williams refused to confirm whether he would be rehearsing at the site.
