Robbie Makes TV History

We're more than used to seeing Robbie Williams in the headlines.

But this time, it's not his love life or partying habits that are attracting all the attention.

The Robster is about to make a bit of telly history with the first ever UK live music broadcast in glorious High Definition.

His Close Encounters tour will feature in Sky One's Robbie Williams Live In Leeds, which fans can see on 9th September 2006.

Robbie said: "It's great to be working with Sky. I've seen High Definition television and it looks great. It will capture the atmosphere of the concert in ways that a traditional broadcast couldn't."

Sky One programming director Richard Woolfe, said: "You'll be able to see more Robbie, hear more Robbie and feel more Robbie.

"The Sky experience will make this more personal and rewarding for Robbie's fans than ever before. Audiences will feel like they're literally on stage with him."

We're sure there are a few fans who'd jump at the chance.

Form a queue, ladies.

Robbie Williams' September 9 concert in Leeds will be broadcast live in high definition on Sky One HD, with Dolby 5.1 surround sound. Non-HD Sky subscribers can watch the concert, too, on the normal Sky One channel, but only in standard definition, though with the same choice of multiple camera angles as HD viewers.

Sky says that the concert - in Roundhay Park and part of Robbie Williams' Close Encounters tour - will be the first in the UK to be broadcast live in HD. It's being directed by Hamish Hamilton and produced by Lee Lodge for Done and Dusted.

Robbie Williams is quoted by Sky as saying,

"I’ve seen high definition television and it looks great. It will capture the atmosphere of the concert in ways that a traditional broadcast couldn’t."

Richard Woolfe, Programming Director, Sky One, Two and Three commented,

"Robbie is the number one entertainer in the world. With Sky HD, the multi-camera offering and Sky's unrivalled interactive services you'll be able to see more Robbie, hear more Robbie and feel more Robbie. The Sky experience will make this more personal and rewarding for Robbie’s fans than ever before."

Sky says that the Close Encounters tour - which began in South Africa in April and will end in Australia in December - is Robbie Williams' biggest stadium tour to date, with an estimated 2.6 million fans around the world expected to turn out for the shows.

Williams dumps "cheap fling" Tara PT

Thursday, June 15 2006, 11:16 BST - by Dave West

Robbie Williams has ended his relationship with Tara Palmer-Tomkinson – calling it a "cheap fling".

The singer said he wants to be single so he can try and find a more serious long term partner.

"I am 100 per cent single," he told the Daily Star. "I had a good time but I want to find my future wife now, not just a cheap fling.

"I always expect something to happen, such as meeting the future Mrs Williams. To not believe in love has been a far easier ride than a soul-sapping search."

He also attacked stars' Hollywood-style dating rules. "The package looks great but when you get them home, they’re wired up wrong," he explained. "There are dating rules people use in Hollywood: ‘Don’t call until next day, and then don’t get back to him for two days’.

"It’s all rubbish. If I spot them I respond in kind by never speaking to them again."

Tara is dumped? :o Now there's a shocker ;)

I'm in the middle of housework Ossie. Will be on and off a bit for a couple of hours. Then I'll be watching the football later ( the England game). :cheer:

Glad it's on 'normal' SKY as well. I don't have an HD telly. And apparently even if you do have an HD telly you need to pay a higher monthly subscription to SKY to get the HD signal. <_<

Strange that it's not on Channel 4  Nearly all of his TV things are on CH4. Slane is the last thing i can remember being on SKY ^_^

Will look forward to watching it on the tv. :D

Not sure if I should record it and watch it after the Milton Keynes concert, don't want to spoil things for myself.

Problem is, I don't think I'll be able to wait
