MUM'S FURY AS ROBBIE SCHOOL PAPERS ARE PUBLISHED

MARK FORSTER

09:40 - 20 June 2006

http://195.234.240.231/shared/contentbinaries/publish/766108.jpg

Robbie Williams's mum is demanding an inquiry into how a tabloid Sunday newspaper got hold of her son's school careers file. The documents reveal the pop superstar's dream to become an actor, but that sales, social work or hotel management were deemed more in his capability. The files also recount his auditions for the British version of New Kids On The Block, and his successful entry into Take That, and then pop history.

Today, Robbie's mum Jan Williams, disappointed at recent publicity about her son, said: "I haven't seen the article, but it's a shame this has got out. I shall be demanding inquiries into it."

Staffordshire County Council, then responsible for the Careers Service, says it would not hand out personal information, and that there was no official approach from the tabloid.

A spokesman said the council did not know where the files were, or if it had them.

He added: "We are worried that anybody might think Staffordshire County Council would release personal files. We would not.

"There are millions of pieces of paper held in archives. We don't know how the Mail On Sunday got hold of the documents. We don't even know where they are."

He said no complaints had been made, and therefore no investigation would be launched.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council, which took on responsibility for education when it became a unitary authority in 1997, also stressed it would not give out personal files.

And Connexions, which succeeded the former Careers Service, confirmed it didn't have the papers and would not have released them.

The files, including a document filled in by a then 15-year-old Robbie, a pupil at St Margaret Ward High, Tunstall, show he was expected to get average grades at GCSE, only excelling in history, where he was forecast to get an A or B grade.

His career plan included becoming an actor, with television work his first choice and theatre his second.

He said he was considering going to college and then "hopefully" to university, but was unsure which course to take.

Discussions with his careers adviser suggested he study drama, media or theatre at polytechnic or university, or try social work, sales or hotel management as a career.

But it wasn't to be. After cutting his teeth in local am-dram, Robbie's talent was soon to shine through and land him a shot at fame and fortune.A September 3, 1990, entry in the file recounts: "Now signed contract with RCA Records... lives in Stockport with the group."

The group in question was the Cutest Rush, along with Gary Barlow and Mark Owen. It became Take That with the addition of Jason Orange and Howard Donald, and the quintet enjoyed a record-breaking chart run, before Robbie left in 1995 to launch a hugely successful solo career.

thanx RWITALY

It really must be awful for a Mother and I am not surprised she sometimes gets upset. I would too if it were my boy. :(

That school/careers report should have remained confidential

thats the lousy British press for you. Delve into everyone's lives but their own.

When the Sun's editor was caught out by fighting with her husband, the press could not sweep it under the carpet quick enough.

Different for everyone else though.

Robbie may never marry

ROBBIE Williams’ dad says he doesn’t think the superstar will ever settle down.

The millionaire performer, 32, has often lamented about his lack of luck in finding the right woman to marry and have kids with.

And Robbie’s dad Pete Conway, who left the family home when the singer was two, blames himself for Robbie’s inability to find and hold on to The One.

Pete told Closer: "Was Robbie affected by me leaving? I’m sure he was. But he’s happy enough now and we’re good friends."

He continued: "Still, I don’t know if he’ll ever settle down."

Pete revealed Robbie adores children but still hadn’t found his soulmate.

He said: "It’s not that he doesn’t like families or kids. My stepdaughter has a little boy and Rob loves him."

He added: "He just hasn’t met Miss Right yet."

Robbie, who had a fling with Tara Palmer Tomkinson recently, muses on his website about his difficulties finding love.

He writes: "I’d love to be able to fall in love but it would cause too many problems. Problems she doesn’t need or deserve."

 I have got the hots for that picture. :P

Williams show sold out in one hour

The Australian

BRITISH pop star Robbie Williams sold out his second concert at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium just over an hour after tickets went on sale, promoters said today.

Williams, whose performances will be the first time the 52,500 capacity football stadium is used for a rock concert, plays in Brisbane on December 13-14.

Australian promoter Michael Chugg said the ticket sales for the nationwide outdoor concert tour by Williams had been "extraordinary".

Both shows at Sydney's Aussie stadium and Melbourne's Telstra Dome had also sold out, Chugg said.

Williams plays nine shows on the Australian-leg of his Robbie Williams: Close Encounters World Tour.

The tour starts at Perth's Subiaco Oval on December 1. Tickets for the second Perth concert go on sale next Tuesday.

ROBBIE LOVES TO TAKE IT AWAY

by Eva Simpson & Caroline Hedley

THERE'S no way Robbie Williams will ever turn into a snob, if his recent visit to Paris is anything to go by.

The 32-year-old turned up his nose at the haute cuisine at his five-star hotel in and opted for a McDonald's instead.

The once-tubby star was staying in the £3,000-a-night George V hotel ahead of his concert last Saturday night.

But despite having the services of Michelin-starred chef Philippe Legendre to call upon, he plumped for a fast-food feast. "Robbie isn't comfortable in posh restaurants," says our confidante.

"And he doesn't speak a word of French. After watching DVDs in his suite with Jonathan Wilkes all night, he fancied a Big Mac instead of all the pricey dishes on his room service menu.

"The funny thing is no one in McDonald's even recognised him. They just thought he was yet another Brit fresh off the Eurostar."

SOCIALITE DENIES FLINGS WITH UK POP STARS

The British socialite who claimed to have enjoyed flings with singers ROBBIE WILLIAMS and JAMES BLUNT now insists she was only ever platonic friends with the pop sensations. TARA PALMER-TOMKINSON was left fuming in April (06) when she discovered her YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL singer beau had a girlfriend after allegedly claiming he was single. He has since been dating Czech model and tsunami survivor PETRA NEMCOVA. She overcame her heartache with a brief tryst with Williams, gushing about their happiness in a recent British TV interview. But now the leggy brunette is adamant her relationships with both men were never more than platonic. She says, "No, no, no - everyone always gets the wrong end of the stick. "With Robbie, I was talking about relationships in general - and relationships include friendships. "James has always just been a friend too. I was so pleased to see those pictures of the two of them (Blunt and Nemcova). If anyone deserves a bit of happiness, it's her."

Robbie 'Pulls' Tooth Competition

Robbie Williams has decided not to go ahead with a planned tooth-giveaway.

It seems despite the hordes of fans around him there just wasn't enough interest in his old tooth.

Robbie told the disappointed fans: "Thanks for your great response to win my tooth.

"I always thought it was a bit gross and a weird idea but it was worth a try.

"There weren't enough 'yesses' to run a competition, so I'll hold on to it and with any luck the tooth fairy will come to visit one night."

The intellectual life of Robbie Williams

Fiachra Gibbons

Friday June 23, 2006

The Guardian

How shallow we have been to mistake the use of a motorised stage toilet for a laddish prank, when clearly it was a complex metaphor about the constant presence of death, even in triumph, of which Gide, Camus or Artaud would have been proud.

The artist in question is Robbie Williams, and these thoughts occurred when he turned up the other day at a gathering of the world's greatest travel writers at Shakespeare & Company, the legendary Paris hangout of Beckett, Burroughs and Baldwin. Not, of course, that the likes of Colin Thubron, Jason Elliot or Dervla Murphy had much of a clue what Robert Peter Maximillian Williams does when he is not dropping in unannounced on literary festivals as inconspicuously as only a megastar - with entourage, dressed from head to toe in turquoise - can.

(Had he a long nose, a strangely high forehead and appeared out of a sandstorm in the Taklamakan desert, that would have been a different story . . . Clearly they'd have put him down straight away as the next Madhi.)

But Williams was not there in search of adoration, having played to 50,000 screaming fans the night before. Instead he had come to the shadow of Notre Dame to pay homage. To what colossus, you may ask? To Jon Ronson, oft of this parish, or eruv, or whatever the culturally appropriate term might be, of whom he professes to be a devoted disciple. So big a fan, in fact, that as he admits in his biography, Feel, he has read passages of Ronson's books to stadiums full of bemused Dutch people.

Geri Halliwell has previously outed him as a reader - although the official line is that Robbie's favourite book remains The Adventures of the Wishing Chair by Enid Blyton.

Despite having dished the dirt on the Bilderberg group, the shadowy organisation that rules the world - and yes, Peter Mandelson is a member - Ronson is oddly reluctant to divulge anything about his relationship with Williams, or indeed his reading habits.

We do know, however, that Robbie is obsessed with the conspiracy theorists Ronson chronicled in his bestsellers Them and The Men Who Stare at Goats.

But get this. Williams walked out of the open-sided tent mid-reading when Ronson mentioned David Icke and his belief that 12ft blood-drinking lizards control the earth. Remember, Robbie was wearing a light blue jumpsuit, a garment not dissimilar to one constantly worn by a certain former sportscaster. Read into that what you will.

Sources close to the star (the guy he sat next to on the grass outside) tell a different story, insisting he slipped out so he could have a fag without disturbing the people next to him. Whose truth do you believe?

Let Me Simulate You

We've all seen those sci-fi movies where a bunch of supposedly obedient robots suddenly turn evil and vow to destroy mankind, haven't we? Well, would anyone feel any better about it if those robots looked and acted like Robbie Williams?

Not that we're aware of any plot like that, but according to the Daily Star, Rob's donated a large amount of cash to the Institute of Intelligent Systems for Information so that they can do more research into lifelike robots. Not just any robots, mind - Robbie Robots (Rob-bots? Hmm, maybe we should trademark that before he thinks of it).

It sounds a little crazy, right? But frankly it's Robbie, and we wouldn't rule anything out where he's concerned, because we know how he loves to surprise us all with the unexpected. The robots are even rumoured to include replicas of Robbie's tattoos.

Still, as long as they're all entirely willing to support their human overlords, we should all be fine, right? Otherwise - WE INTERRUPT THIS NEWS REPORT. THIS WRITER HAS BEEN ELIMINATED. YOU WILL SURRENDER TO US AND LET US ENTERTAIN YOU...

ROBBIE'S NOT TAKING THAT

Eva Simpson & Caroline Hedley

IF Robbie Williams is planning on joining Take That's tour then he'd better hurry up.

Their last date is in Milton Keynes tonight and the last we heard Robbie, 32, arrived in Amsterdam on Thursday and he is playing at the Arena until Sunday. Boo hoo...

Guess we're not getting a reunion then.......

( I think it's probably for the best)

Madonna tour snubs Aussies

By NUI TE KOHA

25jun06

MADONNA has dumped Australia from her world tour plans.

The snub, confirmed yesterday, is despite Madonna's promise to include Australia if her tour reached Asia.

"If I go to Japan, I'll go to Australia. I promise!" she said in October -- now just hollow words used while touting for album sales.

Madonna's Australian tour promoter, Michael Gudinski, said yesterday Australia was "not under consideration for a Madonna tour".

Gudinski added: "I am sure she will come back here one day.

"She likes Australia. It'll be worth the wait."

But the rebuff has a bright side. Madonna's production team is available to do U2's Australian tour in November.

The crew, used by most superstar acts, would not commit to U2 until Madonna decided.

Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams and U2 headline a summer of rock.

Williams will earn a record $70 million for his Australian shows. U2 will take $59 million and Minogue has sold $22.5 million in tickets.

Robbie made it after all, his tour is the biggest selling and most succesful EVER in Australia. Keep making and breaking records Robbie. :cheer:

Fantastic news, I knew it would be around half a million tickets sold. I was semi calculating as the dates were being added and added and added :cheer: Who is a clever bunny then

This bit of news reads fabby too.

Williams, performing to 500,000 fans nationally, will earn a record-breaking $70 million for his Australian shows. "This is the biggest grossing tour Australia has seen – ever," said his tour promoter Michael Chugg.
