Coming out soon is the Queen and world trade centre.

so as a film detailing a very shocking moment in history. do you think the WTC film will come off top, or if you believe the press at venice do you think it will pompous soppy, emotional very American, channel five in the afternoon type filmmaking.

will United 93 be the only film of 9/11 worth watching? your opinions?

I think The Queen is gonna be good

The Queen is out on Friday, along with Ricky Bobby and DOA (if you fancy a contrasting double feature   )

Oliver Stone has gone out of his way to say that "World Trade Centre" is not going to be the political film about 9/11 (apparently he's gonna follow it up with a film about the aftermath that will have a more political slant to it, so expect the "JFK"-type conspiracies here...), so I think that WTC is gonna be Ollie in more 'reflective' (ie, soppy and sentimental) mode...

"The Queen" actually looks kinda good (and this is coming from someone who is a committed anti-Monarchist), given that it's Steven Frears directing I dont think it's gonna exactly be Pro-Windsor PR.....

it was good, though not really my kind of film (it slotted in to the day better before DOA than the Black D.). think i must have been the youngest there by about 50 years. thought they might have started a new rating not an over 18s but and over 80s   it was like xmas with a blanket of white teacosy old lady hairdos

they loved it as i heard them talking thru the film esp. Michael Sheen's Tony Blair  . and when you think that last time i saw him act was in that Kenneth Williams thing (on BBC4 next week again i think)

Just came back from seeing it. It's solid, perfectly good film-making and the script is at times pretty razor sharp and extremely well acted all round (Michael Sheen, James Cromwell and Helen Mirren I single out for particular praise..). But, there was just something missing.... It didn't really seem to have the EDGE that it should have....

Or maybe I made the mistake of seeing this just after Alfredo Cuaron's SUPERB "Children of Men".....
