Is it any good Linz? Worth the dosh?

Yeah, it's a nice phone. I have mine on a contract so it didn't cost me anything.

I'm not sure how much exclusive stuff you'll get with it, i'm certainly not holding my breath, but it has some nice wallpapers and screensavers.

He still hasn't phoned me to arrange a meeting at that hotel yet though, can't understand that

He's probably a bit nervous. He'll call. I'm sure of it. -_-

EMI enthuses over its releases

hemscott.com

Music group EMI took time off from its bid battle with Warner Music to assure shareholders at the AGM that trading is going well.

The reassurance was needed after a European Court ruling regarding Sony dampened hopes of industry consolidation.

Chairman Eric Nicoli told the AGM of his confidence that the global music industry has excellent long term prospects driven by the rapidly expanding demand for digital music.

He enthused: ‘We are enjoying impressive creative momentum, have exciting release schedules for both divisions, are generating very high growth in digital sales, and are on track to deliver the cost savings from our latest restructuring plan.’

He described the planned release schedule for the remainder of the financial year as broadly based, comprising a healthy mix of global and local artists and encompassing both long-established and newly emerging superstars.

The highlights include albums from The Beatles, Norah Jones, Robbie Williams, Janet Jackson, KT Tunstall, Joss Stone, Chingy, Stacie Orrico, Keith Urban, Trace Adkins, Dierks Bentley, RBD, Relient K and Renaud.

Nicoli repeated the company line that the most recent offer from Warner, 320p a share, was ‘wholly unacceptable in the light of EMI's prospects, the potential synergy benefits of a combination of the two companies and the range of strategic options available to EMI’.

He said EMI’s own offer of $31 a share for Warner ‘could be very attractive to the shareholders of both companies’. The stand-off continues.

Nicoli took a cautious view of a European Court decision this morning to block a Sony BMG joint venture. This overruled the European Commission, which had given the go-ahead..

‘It will require detailed study before any wider conclusions can be reached,’ he said.

Concerns that further consolidation in the industry, including a tie-up between EMI and Warner, would be clocked sent EMI shares sharply lower. Towards the close of trading they were down 26p to 280p.

Robbie Williams' sex book

Friday, 14th July 2006, 12:03

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LIFE STYLE EXTRA (UK) - Robbie Williams keeps a written list of all the women he has had sex with during his tour - so he doesn't lose count.

The 'Let Me Entertain You' singer - who reportedly bedded four women last week - jots down each conquest in a 'little black book' so he doesn't forget about them.

A source was quoted in Britain's Daily Star newspaper as saying: "Robbie has so many one-night stands he can't keep track of who he has slept with.

"So he decided to start a book detailing his conquests so he can cherish his memories."

The list reportedly contains details of the woen's names, ages, contact details and ratings of their sexual performance.

The detailed accounts of the romps are also said to help Robbie, 32, keep track of beauties he might want to bed again in the future.

The source said: "He wants to keep in touch with some of the girls and hook up with them next time he is in town.

"So the notebook helps him remember which ones he might want to meet in the future, and what they were like in the bedroom."

ENTERTAINMENT CONCERT BY NEW 'KING OF POP'

Robbie to play in Bangkok

Robbie Williams, who has declared himself the new King of Pop, is bringing his record-breaking 'Close Encounters' world tour to Bangkok. He will play a concert on Nov 14 at Aktiv Square, Impact Muang Thong Thani.

Organiser BEC-Tero believes it will be Thailand's biggest concert since Michael Jackson's 'Dangerous' tour in 1996.

Williams has performed in Thailand before, in 2001, when 15,000 tickets sold out quickly.

For the November date, the outdoor venue is expected to host around 30,000 revellers.

This tour has put Williams into the Guinness Book of World Records, as over 1.6 million tickets were sold in one day. The organisers said the show will incorporate a six-storey high stage, 25 tonnes of pyrotechnics, lights and video walls, and a roof specially brought in from Australia, along with 400 crew members to handle the production.

After the Bangkok show, Williams will perform in Singapore and finish off with four more shows in Australia.

Beginning his career as a heart-throb in the band Take That, Williams embarked on a successful solo career in 1997.

He is currently one of the highest grossing pop stars in the world.

Tickets priced at 3,000, 1,800, 1,200 and 600 baht will go on sale on Wednesday at all Thaiticketmaster kiosks and at www.thaiticketmaster.com

A snippet from a very long article in the Daily Mail about the Ashley Cole/Cheryl Tweedy tacky wedding

But four celebrities Cheryl can rely on are her bandmates from Girls Aloud. Despite reports of ructions within the group (Cheryl has, it is widely agreed, a 'loud mouth') the girls are expected to make a starring appearance as her glamorous bridesmaids.

The wedding cake, meanwhile, is being provided by royal baker Eric Lanlard. The musical entertainment, however, will not be quite as spectacular as Ashley had hoped. The Mail understands he approached Robbie Williams at the Beckhams' party, but the singer did not take him seriously and simply giggled.

Instead, Ashley has asked his considerably less famous friend DJ Masterstepz to play tunes by Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley and Alexander O'Neal.

A PARTY piece from Robbie Williams has been slammed by parents worried about their children's exam results.

Williams was the star turn at the pre-World Cup party in June thrown by England captain David Beckham at his Hertfordshire home.

Now four families have complained to East Hertfordshire Council that the £500,000 bash kept their children awake the night before GCSEs.

One parent said: "I wish the party had not taken place on a Sunday night. We all woke at 2am to hear Robbie Williams

I really dont know what all the fuss is about, ;) I would be very happy to hear robbie at 2am

'Bedroom touts' want right to sell tickets on net

By David Derbyshire, Consumer Affairs Editor

Nine out of 10 people want the right to buy and sell tickets to pop concerts, cricket matches and rock festivals on the open market, according to a new poll.

The survey found widespread support for "bedroom touting", in which people buy more tickets than they need and then sell the spares at inflated prices over the internet.

The poll, carried out by the internet auction site eBay, comes amid growing pressure from the entertainment industry for a crack down on online touts.

At a summit meeting on Monday at the Department for Culture Media and Sport, concert promoters are expected to argue that internet touts make it harder for genuine fans to get sensibly priced tickets.

They say that tickets for the most popular sports events and concerts now appear online at inflated prices within minutes of them being sold out.

Four tickets for Madonna's sold-out concert at Wembley on Aug 1, for instance, were being advertised on eBay last week for £700. Their face value is £175.

A pair of tickets to the Rolling Stones' gig in Sheffield in August are being offered for £346, while a pair of tickets to see Robbie Williams at Milton Keynes in September are on sale for £335.

Buying and selling second-hand tickets is not illegal, accept for football games in England and Wales.

However, re-selling tickets is usually in breach of the terms and conditions laid down by the event organiser.

Venues can refuse admission to someone they know has bought a ticket second-hand.

EBay claims that most fans want to buy and sell tickets on the open market and has accused venues and concert promoters of making too few tickets available.

The company also argues that most of the people selling tickets on its website are genuine fans who have bought too many tickets.

In a survey of 1,000 people, carried out by ICM, 87 per cent of people said they should be able to re-sell tickets.

Nearly half of people surveyed who said they had tried to secure a refund had found it "impossible".

Eighty-four per cent believed that a ticket was their private property and that they should have the right to buy and sell it.

Charles Coney, a spokesman for eBay, said: "People clearly believe sport, theatre, music or concert tickets should be treated like any other consumer good.

"If you have bought and paid for it, you should be allowed to re-sell it.

"The solution to making sure tickets end up in the hands of people that really want them is not to blame markets like eBay, which actually help music fans get to the gigs they want to.

"It is also important to realise that the vast majority of sellers on the site are individuals with duplicate tickets - not touts.

"The answer to making sure tickets are more easily available to fans may lie in looking more closely at how they are distributed in the first place through agencies, corporate sponsors and loyalty schemes.

"Very often only a very small proportion of tickets are actually made available to the public."

However, a spokesman for the Concert Promoters' Association said eBay posed a threat to music fans.

"The trend is for people to buy four tickets, keep two and then sell the others on eBay for an inflated price. They are bedroom opportunists," she said.

"The shows are selling out quicker than ever before and fans are finding it harder to get tickets."

The meeting on Monday - which will be chaired by Tessa Jowell, the Culture Secretary - will discuss drawing up a code of conduct for the events and resale industries

We will survive, says EMI over merger fears

Alain Levy, head of recorded music, insists that even if the deal with Warner fails to come off, the group is now strong enough to thrive on its own. John Arlidge reports

DON’T tell anyone about this, said Alain Levy, boss of EMI’s recorded-music division, as he unlocked a black Hermès briefcase and took out an unmixed, copy-protected CD of Robbie Williams’s new album, Rudebox 1974, which will be released this autumn.

The 59-year-old Frenchman cranked up the volume and grinned like a proud father. “This track’s mixed by William Orbit, who did Ray of Light with Madonna,†he boasted. “Robbie sings in French at the end of this one, y’know.†Levy and Williams are not related, but they do have a lot in common. A few years ago each was confronting disaster.

Williams was battling drug addiction. Levy was struggling to save a firm that was so badly run it was nicknamed “Every Mistake Imaginableâ€.

What a difference a few years make. Robbie Williams is “clean†and Rudebox 1974, which marks a Madonna-style conversion from rock to electronica, looks a sure-fire No 1.

Levy, too, has his eye on the top spot, in the business charts. EMI’s bid to take over Warner Music is designed to create a company with the best new artists and the best back catalogue. “It’s a fantastic way to build a future . . . and become the best music company in the world,†he said.

The proposed Anglo- American outfit would boast Madonna, Coldplay, Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, Norah Jones, Green Day and the Pet Shop Boys. The back catalogue would include the collected works of the Beatles and the Eagles.

The only problem is that ever since Levy and EMI chairman Eric Nicoli unveiled the bid, it has created enough angst to inspire a Coldplay box-set. Last week’s unexpected ruling by the European Court of First Instance that annulled the decision by the European Commission, Europe’s competition regulator, to approve the creation of Sony BMG two years ago is just the latest in a long line of setbacks.

Almost immediately after EMI launched its bid, Warner responded by making a counter offer of its own for EMI, which rejected the bid and raised its offer. Warner rejected the revised bid and raised its offer.

As the transatlantic bidding war intensified, rumours began to spread that Warner boss Edgar Bronfman had offered EMI’s chairman, Eric Nicoli, a job in any combined company but had frozen out Levy. The two men had fallen out almost a decade ago when Bronfman led the acquisition of PolyGram, Levy’s former firm.

But however bad it gets — Levy conceded that the European ruling could make it impossible to convince the European Commission to approve a deal — he refuses to give up. In his Kensington office last week, only minutes after the European court ruling was published, he set about trying to smooth relations between EMI and Warner.

He dismissed as “utter nonsense†reports that Nicoli would stay on after any US takeover, while he would be forced to quit. “There has been no discussion like that,†he said. When he first heard the rumours he thought they were so funny that he e-mailed Nicoli to tell him he’d heard that he, Nicoli, had got a job as Bronfman’s chauffeur.

Levy pooh-poohed claims that he and Bronfman could not work together after the latter’s 1998 purchase of PolyGram. “To see it as a big fight of two egos, that’s total nonsense.â€

He conceded that the personal chemistry between the pair had “not been right†after the PolyGram sale. They had “hours of discussions†after the deal was signed and Bronfman offered him a job, as the head of music in the new joint company. “But I felt that I would be miserable and he probably would be miserable and it would end in tears.â€

Levy quit instead and joined EMI’s recorded-music division in 2001.

He insisted that his relationship with Bronfman was amicable. “He might have changed since. I might have changed since. I see Edgar socially at functions and we talk, absolutely. Have we ever said anything bad about each other? No.â€

Far from quitting, Levy hinted that he would like to be head of music in any new Anglo-American outfit.

“Would I like to be here for the next five years continuing to build what I have built out of something that was in pretty bad shape? I have a total passion for my job.â€

Although EMI made the first move in the transatlantic takeover battle, tabling a bid for Warner at $28.50 a share, later revised upward to $31, valuing the company at £2.5 billion, Levy said that if a Warner takeover of EMI created greater shareholder value than an EMI takeover of Warner, he would support it.

“I am paid to create shareholder value, but the price has to be right. What Warner can’t do is try to buy us on the cheap.â€

EMI directors are said to have dismissed Warner’s offers of 310p and 315p a share, that value EMI at £2.6 billion, as laughable. “We certainly would not write that word but it might have been said,†Levy said with a smile.

Five years ago EMI looked like it might have to merge with the likes of Warner to stave off bankruptcy. In common with the music industry as a whole, it was struggling to cope with illegal digital downloads, CD piracy and falling CD and singles sales. It was overstaffed, and budgets were, by Levy’s own admission, bloated. Between January 2000 and September 2001 the company lost 65% of its market value.

After firing 1,800 staff and 400 artists, slashing £150m off the company’s annualised fixed costs and cracking down on illegal downloading while embracing new legal digital distribution systems — notably Itunes and Napster, ringtones for mobile phones and soundtracks for computer games — EMI’s revenues returned to growth last year for the first time since 2000.

Like the music industry in general, EMI is now, Levy said, out of the woods. “We have taken the lesson that you cannot ignore the consumer. There is a business model. People want more music. But they want the music in different ways. We have to find ways to monetise it.â€

A Warner/EMI deal would speed the company’s recovery by cutting £200m of back- office costs from the new business and expanding the artist repertoire, particularly in the US where EMI has been weak until recently. But even if the deal with its new dance partner does fall through, Levy insists that EMI will still thrive.

“A deal would create value but, if it doesn’t happen, we’ll create value in a different way to become the best music company in the world. There’s nothing structurally wrong. We have a 14% market share, so we are sitting at the top table.â€

And EMI can bring some of the world’s best talent to that table. Last month Levy took Kylie to Elton John’s White Tie and Tiara Ball to celebrate the Australian singer’s comeback after successfully battling breast cancer.

“She is back in the studio recording and is starting her tour where she left it. I told her I might go, but her manager said he might not be able to get me tickets.†Does he have a secret CD of Kylie’s he can play, like that of Robbie Williams? “It’s too early,†he said. “She’s gone through a hell of an experience but she is at the top of her form, I can tell you.â€

Whatever happens in the transatlantic takeover saga that has already had more comebacks than The Who, you get the feeling that Levy will still be sitting in his Kensington office playing his Robbie and Kylie CDs and grinning like a doting dad.

Oh VERY interesting. So i guess that is the first bit of official info we have got. So it's called "Rudebox 1974"

Robbie’s tribute pleases Madonna

Geschrieben von Entertain_Me

London, July 15:

British singer Robbie Williams was apparently worried that the tribute he penned to the queen of pop Madonna along with the Pet Shop Boys would leave the songstress thinking that he was stalking her.

Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys revealed that Williams was relieved when Madonna liked the song, because the ‘Slow’ singer had been extremely worried that the song would give Madge the idea that Robbie was obsessed with her.

“Apparently she likes it. Rob feared she’d think he was stalking her,†The Sun quoted the singer, as saying.

ROBBIE'S ICELAND MAIDEN

New blonde conquest on world tour

Debbie Manley & Alice Walker

ROBBIE WILLIAMS has spent the night with a second stunning blonde - this time a cool Icelandic beauty.

The pop superstar, 32, met up with SNAEDIS GUDNADOTTIR after his sell-out gig in the Danish capital of Copenhagen.

Just last week we revealed his night of passion with Swedish doctor MARIE ANNERSTEDT, 25, on his Close Encounters world tour as well as romps with FOUR other girls.

Now Snaedis - dubbed Robbie's Little Red Riding Hood - has confirmed her close encounter at the swanky Skt Petri hotel.

But the financial analyst was coy about the details.

She told ViP: "What went on with me and Robbie, that's between me and him, just how it should be. As always what happens between a man and woman is a private thing."

Sources close to Snaedis believe the singer will be more than just a one-night stand.

A pal said: "She is a very discreet girl and is giving little away about her night of passion. But she is under the impression he will return."

However, earlier this week it was rumoured that Rob has started a little black book to keep track of his conquests.

He joked: "It's a running joke how hard it is for me to pull. But my luck seems to have finally changed."

Next stop on the tour is Budapest on Wednesday. Will a Hungarian beauty end up in rhapsody?

Snaedis? What a swinging name that is.

Today (17th of July) in 1995 was the day Robbie left Take That.

Happy Solo Career Anniversary Bob.

Yep and it will be his official 10 Year Anniversary as far as releasing music on July 29 :cheer:
I know. And Bongo Bong could have been included. What a wasted opportunity. -_-

Here is a typicle Newton story which i am sure is nothing but bull$h!te and her just stiring things up as usual but she sounds positive about the new album anyway.

Robbie: After you, Justin

ROBBIE WILLIAMS has bottled out of a chart showdown with man of the moment JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE.

The Prince Of Pop has delayed his new album release — called 1974 — so it won’t go head-to-head with Justin’s latest, FutureSex: LoveSounds.

Both CDs were due out on September 11 but now Robbie has held his back until the beginning of October.

It’s a surprise move by Robbie. I hear he has his best and most experimental album to date up his sleeve.

And the delay could now mean a chart battle with THE KILLERS.

A source said: “Taking on Timberlake would have been madness but The Killers will still provide some serious competition.â€

I get the feeling Robbie’s on autopilot on his Close Encounters tour.

But his fans shouldn’t be too disheartened.

I’ve got my hands on details of 1974, named after the year Robbie was born, and it sounds like a return to form.

The first single, Rudebox, comes out in September, followed by Lovelight — which I hear is Robbie at his best — in December.

He has also recorded two rap-style tracks called The 80s and The 90s, about his days in TAKE THAT.

One shocking lyric describes how he’d like to cut former manager Nigel Martin-Smith’s eyes with a Stanley knife, says a record label source.

Two more amazing songs are The Actor, inspired by his hero DAVID BOWIE and She’s Madonna — which I told you on Saturday the Queen Of Pop loves.

Robbie has also recorded a tribute to NEIL TENNANT and CHRIS LOWE called We’re The Pet Shop Boys, written by US synth guru MY ROBOT FRIEND.

There are two cover versions on the album: Kiss Me, a hit for Robbie’s right-hand man STEPHEN DUFFY and THE HUMAN LEAGUE’s Louise, which Robbie has said is one of his favourite songs.

LILY ALLEN sings backing vocals on two tracks.

With PET SHOP BOYS production and great tracks, I think it’s a shame Robbie’s not squaring up to Timberlake.
