Scotty isn't it defeating the object if loads of European fans went to see Robbie in America. It is the American audiences he wants. That is the only way to 'make' it in the US is to WOW the American public. We already know!

guess I am talking double standards here. I would be over there like a shot if he did a gig in New York or LA :yahoo: :yahoo:

Spread the love and all that

I suppose it would maybe make a lot of Americans (well New Yorkers anyway) take a bit of notice.

' Unknown English pop singer sells out Madison in 2 minutes record' would look good in the papers.

Although we'd probably get ' Mrs Doubtfire star still as popular as ever'..... ;)

Music and brand partnerships welcomed by consumers

by Daniel Farey-Jones Brand Republic 19 Jul 2006

McDonald's: Timberland link-up not popular

LONDON - Around half of consumers welcome brands using music to promote their products, but many rejected McDonald's tie-up with Justin Timberlake, according to new research.

Brands sponsoring or partnering with music was regarded as a great or good idea by 51% of consumers, but as a very bad or bad idea by 12%. The remaining 37% had no strong feelings either way, according to the survey by Entertainment Music Research for Music Week's Music and Brands conference being held today.

However, they were selective about the kind of brands they thought should get involved with, and the fast food and banking sectors were at the bottom of the list.

Only 17% thought McDonald's 2003 tie-up with global star Justin Timberlake was a good fit and 44% thought it was a bad fit.

The five sectors that topped the list were clothing brands, sporting goods, soft drinks, mobile phone networks and mobile phone handsets.

Clothing chain Gap's association with Madonna was seen as a good fit by 62% and as a bad fit by only 10%, while Apple's association with U2 was seen as a good fit by 66% and as a bad fit by only 6%.

Also scoring well were Reebok and The Streets' Mike Skinner and T-Mobile and Robbie Williams.

Teenagers are the most positive of any age group about brands' involvement, with 59% of them seeing it as a great or good idea.

In its study, Entertainment Media Research recommends a checklist of five key points to help brands and artists get it right: awareness; appropriateness; fit; emotional connection; and optimised content.

Steve Evans, research director at Entertainment Media Research, said: "This study demonstrates that you can research your target audience and predict the effectiveness of a brand's involvement in music for optimum impact."

EMI signs mobile download deal with Vodafone

LONDON (AFX) - EMI Group has cut a deal with Vodafone Group, making 200,000 of the music label's songs available to the mobile giant's 3G subscribers.

The agreement will allow subscribers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa to download tracks from the likes of Robbie Williams and Coldplay onto their phones, in addition to EMI-licensed ringtones and realtones.

I'm a bit pissed off that none of the live streamed concerts are going to be available in the UK, not even MK.

You'd think i'd be able to get it on my super new Robbie Williams special edition w300i but nope.

Not Happy

The 'Live' stream mobile will be available in the UK next month. This is for 'Pay as you Go' not sure about contract.

that is if the T-Mobile rep got it right. I would be pissed off too if I bought it today and found out there was no Live stream.

Edited by Jackie

I hope you're right, that's not what the announcement says though.

I would have thought if the MK gig was going to be available here they'd say that to push sales

I hope the T-Mobile sales person is right :)

I would be very disappointed in being given the wrong info and very cheesed off if the countries that have the concert can get the 'live' stream and us here in the UK don't get the Live stream for MK. Sounds abit onesided to me

But why have the adverts for it and put a big splash in the Independent promoting it if they are not going to be giving us the full service as the rest of Europe.

They had better give us the full service LOL

I thought this was a wind up last year. Looks like it is no joke. Unbelievable!!

ROBBIE Williams’s reported romp with a groupie is to be immortalised — as a PORN FILM.

A woman called Noeemi, who claims she had a marathon romp with the 31-year-old singer last year, will star in One Night With Robbie. It is due to be released in October.

Noeemi, from Basle, Swizterland, said: “It’s fantastic. I have no problems with erotic scenes.â€

As much as I love Robbie and daydream about him all day long, I don't know if I would be able to handle watching him actually bone a chick. I may get a little jealous and/or disapointed, lol!!

Rude Robbie turns tech

http://i5.tinypic.com/20iia2u.jpg

IT sounds like ROBBIE WILLIAMS is ready to ditch ballads like Angels in favour of techno.

The Rock DJ says he “found himself†on a new dance album.

I told you back in April that Rob would work with the PET SHOP BOYS, WILLIAM ORBIT and MARK RONSON on a new album.

The first single, Rudebox, is like nothing you have heard from Robbie before.

He calls the collection “a nasty, dirty, bass-infused electro-funk-pop monster.â€

Rudebox is out September 4. And be sure to keep reading Bizarre for the first review.

Rob wants Ibiza da action

ROBBIE WILLIAMS is heading to the dance capital of the world to launch his new album.

The Rock DJ is set to unleash 1974, his new techno album, on unsuspecting ravers in Ibiza.

I hear Radio 1 want Robbie to be a surprise guest on their week-long broadcast from there that starts on August 6.

A source told me: “They desperately want to get Robbie to launch his new album as a guest on PETE TONG’s show. But it looks like he will be heading out to Ibiza on Saturday 12 instead for the daytime shows with VERNON KAY or COLIN & EDITH. Rudebox — the first single — is out on September 4 so it would be ideal timing.â€

If Robbie sticks to his plans, he will follow in the footsteps of P DIDDY.

The blingin’ rapper launched his dance album at the rave nation in 2003.

But Let’s Get Ill made people sick of his new musical direction and after flop sales he soon reverted back to R&B.

Robbie describes 1974 — which he wrote with Stoke-on- Trent pals SOUL MEKANIK aka DANNY SPENCER and KELVIN ANDREWS, as: “A nasty, dirty, bass-infused electro-funk-pop monster.â€

He added: “They might say its ‘dance’ or it’s ‘electro’ but it’s just what I like!

“It started off as a busman’s holiday this time around, but it’s become something in which I’ve found myself.â€

I just hope Robbie has better luck than P Diddy did in Ibiza.

thanks people this is good reading

T-Mobile’s use of Robbie slammed

Source: mad.co.uk | Author: Branwell Johnson | Published: 21 July 2006 16:30

The much publicised partnership between Robbie Williams and T-Mobile has been slammed as a bad decision and poorly executed by a music industry insider.

Niamh Byrne, who runs her own marketing and music consultancy called The Engine Room and is a former manager of Gorillaz, hit out at the Music Week/Ricall Music & Brands Conference this week.

T-Mobile has an 18 month deal with Robbie Williams that has given the mobile network operator exclusive concert footage for mobile content and has also seen Williams appear in T-Mobile advertisements.

However, Byrne criticised the deal as a “typical example of how music companies just put an artist blindly to a brand without creating something original.â€

She said that T-Mobile had failed to capitalise on Robbie’s “cheekiness†and could have done more with the partnership than just a “formulaic approach.â€

Byrne added that just repurposing made-for-TV content for mobiles lacked imagination and engagement and pointed to the O2/Nokia “Get close to…†Sugababes campaign as a “fantastic way of originating content for mobilesâ€

She cited the Gorillaz/Motorola campaign, with which she was involved, as another well executed partnership.

Motorola sponsored five nights of concerts in New York and developed a short animation piece featuring band character Murdoc talking on a cellphone. This was bluetoothed to fans at the venue and appeared online where it was picked up on Youtube and widely distributed.

“It was a great way to create a profitable merger with the brand and develop what the Gorillaz are about. The key is to create quality content that does not water the artist down.â€

Matthias Immel, vice president consumer marketing for T-Mobile, said that Robbie Williams’ two biggest markets, UK and Germany, were also the biggest markets for the company.

He added that generating exclusive content helped lure customers to try new mobile services such as the Robbie Williams mobile TV channel.

Looking at the digital landscape Tim Clark of IE Music Group, the company representing Williams, pointed out that in 2002 to accompany the artist's Escapology album 25 pieces of content were created from the album. For the 2005 Intensive Care album 300 pieces including wallpaper, pictures, blogs and a WAP site were created.

He said: “The days when righteous artists could say they will not ‘sell out’ are gone. Otherwise we are not looking after our artists properly and they are not going to make any money.â€

Robbie single worst EVER

ROBBIE WILLIAMS’ new track Rudebox is not only the worst song by him I’ve heard, it’s the worst record I’ve EVER heard (and believe me, I’ve had to listen to some sh*te in the past).

I’m not allowed to put the track on a phone line for legal reasons, but to give you an idea of what it’s like, try to imagine you and your mates messing around in your bedroom with a drum machine while comedy “rapping†over the top.

The only difference is Robbie is actually allowed to release this rubbish because he has a record deal. It shouldn’t be allowed on grounds of taste.

Whereas Madonna and Kylie came up with brilliant tracks such as Music and Slow when they branched out from pop to dance, Robbie’s attempt is a tuneless electro dirge that sounds like someone randomly slapping all the presets on a cheap Casio keyboard.

When he’s rapped on records in the past, Robbie has got away with it because he’s then sung a rousing or catchy chorus which is the climax of the song.

But I’m afraid Rudebox has him “rapping†all the way through. Frankly it’s a load of, um, ’rap.

Don’t get me wrong — I’m a huge fan of Robbie’s music. Angels, Come Undone, Rock DJ, No Regrets, Millennium and the genius Feel are all modern classics which will stand the test of time.

And I thought his performances at Knebworth and Live 8 were world-class — he’s a sensational showman.

But I’m sorry — this record is probably one of the worst in history. Actually, it is THE worst in history.

No doubt Robbie will be so incensed at this review that he will slap a ban on me being sent the rest of the album ahead of its release. I’ll let you know if he does.

In the past he’s not taken kindly to criticism.

Rudebox is taken from his new dance album, 1974, which I’ve heard has some great material on it.

He’s worked with the PET SHOP BOYS, DJ MARK RONSON and brilliant producer WILLIAM ORBIT on it and I hope the CD’s other tracks make up for this truly awful single.

Rudebox? Rudeb****x more like.

At least Foxy likes him

Fox says Lily is all hype

By NADIA BROOKS

Sun Online

LILY Allen will be forgotten in two years’ time, according to Neil Fox.

The DJ reckons the number one artist is "all hype".

Lily, daughter of comedian Keith, is at the top of the charts with Smile.

But Fox said: "I do think it’s all just hype with her. In two years’ time are we still going to be talking about her? No."

He added: "Smile is a good summer tune, and very appropriate for the weather we’re having, but I think she’ll pretty much be a one-hit wonder."

Fox said few artists today had the longevity factor of say Robbie Williams.

He said: "He’s still fantastic."

Fox will host this year’s Great Ormond Street Hospital’s Peter Pan Awards in September.

Children from six to 16 can still enter their creative work into writing, art and photography categories.

Children should send their stories, pictures or photos to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity by July 28.

Twosomes turn worrisome for Robbie Williams!

Saturday July 22 2006 12:36 IST

ANI

LONDON: While most men fantasize about playing around with two sexy women at the same time, singer Robbie Williams is finding out juggling two girls is not such a good thing after all.

The British singer hooked up with an American model named Jessica and a Slovakia blonde named Michaela while on his The One tour.

While Williams managed to keep the two women apart by spending time with Michaela in Amsterdam and Copenhagen, while spending time with Jessica in Germany and Budapest. Now his camp is a bit worried about the two women coming head to head in Milan, Italy where the blonde Slovakian babe is set to land just as Robbie’s American squeeze leaves.

“In Amsterdam and Copenhagen, he was with Michaela and in Germany and Budapest he was with Jessica. So far he’s got away with it But he’s pushing his luck having them in the same city, same day. The road crew are worried the pair will bump into each other in Italy if Robbie doesn’t get his timings exactly right,†The Sun quoted an insider, as saying.

“If they find out about each other it will be like a cat fight with no holds barred,†the insider added.

Robbie Robbie Robbie

EXTRAVAG-ANT!

EXCLUSIVE HE SPLASHES OUT THOUSANDS ON WEDDING VENUE AND PLAYS GOLF WITH ROBBIE WILLIAMS TO EASE HIS JITTERS

Eva Simpson & Caroline Hedley

ANT McPartlin decided to swing when you're wedding - he spent his last day as a bachelor playing golf with Robbie Williams.

The TV star marries his long-term love, make-up artist Lisa Armstrong, this afternoon, followed by a reception at swanky Cliveden House, Berks.

But instead of using his last day of freedom to get sozzled or visit a strip club, Ant spent it on the golf course with Robbie, his best man and showbiz partner Declan Donnelly and friend Jonathan Wilkes.

Wearing shades, 30-year-old Ant looked nervous when his chauffeurdriven car arrived at the magnificent stately home yesterday afternoon.

He told his mates that he'd got pre-wedding day jitters. But they made sure he wouldn't scream: "I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Altar Here!" by taking him to play golf.

Wilkes was overheard saying: "Relax, mate, we'll hit the course and that will calm you down."

Our spy reveals: "Ant was really smiley but very nervous. It was Jonathan who suggested they play golf to ease his nerves."

Lisa, 29, also chilled out - by having a pampering session at Cliveden's luxurious spa room. Maybe Ant's jitters are to do with what the sumptuous wedding is costing.

He's splashed out £30,000 a night to hire Cliveden for the celebrations. The actual ceremony is taking place at St Nicholas church in Taplow, presided over by the Rev Alan Dibden.

And he won't be raking it back from celebrity mags - they shunned offers to cover their big day, insisting it was all about friends and family.

The only celebs expected at their nuptials are Phillip Scofield and Cat Deeley. Not even Robbie will be there - he'll be performing at the San Siro stadium in Milan instead.

But he made sure the happy couple have something nice to remember him by.

Before turning up for golf yesterday, he popped into Bond Street jewellers Graff and spent thousands of pounds on a wedding gift.

Robbie's pal tells us: "We tried to work out if he could fly back after the gig, but he wouldn't get there until 3am. But with him anything's possible. We wouldn't be surprised if he popped out of the wedding cake."

Now that would be the icing on the cake for Ant and Lisa's big day!

The venue for the ceremony is the picturesque St Nicholas parish church, which dates back to 1273 and is steeped in history. It houses the tombs of the original Cliveden House owner, Sir Robert Manfeld, and family.

lets hope neither of them can read
