Well he's obviously legged it back to the UK to play golf and avoid both of them :) He'll probably fly straight back from Milan tonight as well to make the reception

I wonder what the wedding present was that he bought in Graffs the jewellers for Ant & Lisa???

Edited by Geraldine

He has his private jet so I guess he could make it.

Is Milan 1 or 2 hours ahead of the UK?

2 hrs ahead Jupiter, waiting for my phone call right now. :D

After a highly successful career in Take That and then as a solo artist, it turns out that Robbie Williams was just pulling the wool over our eyes - he secretly liked dance music all along. Honest.

Robbie is set to release his new single, Rudebox, on the 4th Sept. The single is taken from his forthcoming album '1974' which includes collaborations with Mark Ronson, Soul Mekanik and William Orbit. According to rumours in the UK press, he is set to promote the single in Ibiza next month with a series of live shows and radio appearances.

"They might say it's dance or electro but it's just what I like! It started off as a busman's holiday this time around, but it's become something on which I've found myself. I was just doing my YTS up till now," he claims.

The record company say it is "intimate and explorative" and that Rudebox is "already blazing a trail across dancefloors all over the world". If you happen to stumble across one of these places then let us know, as we're yet to hear it played out anywhere.

Rudebox is released by EMI on the September 4. Look out for a full review on Sound Generator soon.

I had to laugh at this snippet from today's Sunday People

Geldof cancels Italian tour after only 45 fans turn up for Milan gig

· Activist musician refuses to go on stage

· Press points to ticket prices and unsexy image

Barbara McMahon in Rome

Monday July 24, 2006

The Guardian

Millions of people like to hear Bob Geldof talk about causes as diverse as debt relief and the rights of fathers but it seems not so many, at least in Italy, are as keen to hear him sing.

The Irish rock musician and political activist beat a retreat back to London at the weekend after cancelling concerts in Milan and Rome because too few fans had bought tickets.

Only 45 people turned up on Friday at Milan's Civic Arena for a performance by the 51-year-old singer and songwriter. The venue has a capacity of 12,000.

Geldof refused to go on stage once he realised the dismally small number of people waiting to hear him perform. Before taking a taxi back to his hotel to pack his bags, he stopped to placate those who had turned up by signing autographs and having his photograph taken.

"There aren't the right conditions for a concert, it's not our fault," Geldof is reported to have told the small but angry crowd gathered outside.

After a meeting with the Italian promoter of the tour, another concert due to take place in Rome the following evening, which was also showing poor ticket sales, was cancelled. Two gigs scheduled to take place in Sicily had already been called off. Ticket money has been refunded.

The promoter, Francesco Iacovone, said the apathy of Italians had taken him by surprise. "I don't understand how an artist who has fans all over the world has failed to raise the interest of people in Rome and Milan," he said.

He claimed gossip on the internet had wrongly indicated that the Geldof shows were sold out and further claimed something had gone wrong with the issue of tickets. "I reimbursed someone for a ticket with the number 240 but less than 50 were sold in Milan," he said. The promoter said he would take legal action if he found out that there had been any 'strange manoeuvres' to sabotage the concerts. "I feel we have been boycotted," he added.

Italian newspapers were sceptical about the promoter's claims and suggested the poor turnout for "Sir Bob" was because people now knew him mainly for his philanthropic activities. Corriere della Sera called it "Il flop", and unkindly pointed out that Robbie Williams had also played in Milan at the weekend and had attracted 73,000 adoring fans in "scenes of collective hysteria".

Il Messaggero suggested that the €40 (£27) price of a ticket contributed to the poor attendance and was "excessive for an artist whose music is not closely followed in Italy".

Geldof is admired in Italy as a figurehead for humanitarian causes but his scruffy appearance and doleful brand of rock music is not a natural fit in a country where fans like their rock stars to be sexy and upbeat.

This is not the first time Geldof has cancelled a concert in Italy. In 1999 he refused to go on stage in Rome, pleading a sore throat, but poor attendances were also reported at the time.

The former lead singer of the Boomtown Rats has always been self-deprecating about his musical popularity. He once said his obituary would note that he was "mediocre rock star who composed I Don't Like Mondays and who organised Live Aid and Live 8".

Italian newspapers quoted Geldof after the cancelled concert as saying: "Your country doesn't like me when I sing but at my age I want to be free to do what I want." He has said he will return to Italy in September to play a free concert.

Robbie Williams to cover classic Human League track

UK popstar Robbie Williams is to cover the classic Human League track "Louise" for a forthcoming album entitled "1974". The album itself would be produced by the Pet Shop Boys, William Orbit and Mark Ronson and a host of others. It will include both new original compositions and covers of some of his favourite tracks including a cover of Stephen Duffy's solo hit "Kiss Me" as well as homages to Madonna and David Bowie. A first single "Rudebox" will be released on September 4th via EMI. More news as we get it.

Wow! She has 'Split the Nation' :o This woman has such power.....

It's Bizarre Vicky again

UK split over rude Rob

IT SEEMS I’ve split the nation by declaring ROBBIE WILLIAMS’ new single Rudebox is the worst record that I’ve ever heard.

Radio One gave the track its first play — and DJ JK agreed with me.

He said: “It sounds like Do The Bartman. Someone else compared it with Gazza’s Fog On The Tyne. Ooof!â€

Virgin Radio’s BEN JONES told listeners: “The Sun’s Victoria Newton says Robbie’s new song is the worst ever — and if it’s that bad I don’t know if we’ll be playing it.â€

And Manchester’s Key 103FM DJ SPENCER MacDONALD will air the track — but for laughs.

He said: “I’ll play it on the Sunday comedy slot.â€

While many Sun readers emailed to back my damning verdict — quite a few Robster die-hards kept the faith.

Robbie fan Deborah Whitehurst said: “This is rap with a c! It’s complete toilet waste.â€

But Dee said: “I didn’t think it was that bad.â€

And Caroline McKenzie said: “I don’t like Robbie normally — but the new song is brilliant!â€

If you have heard Rudebox, let me know what YOU think.

Robbie Williams' New Madonna Song Is No Tribute

It's about her husband's ex-lover...

By: Chris Taylor on 7/24/2006

Robbie Williams’ new song ‘She’s Madonna’ may not be the fawning tribute he’s made out it to be – it’s apparently about her husband Guy Ritchie’s ex-lover Tania Strecker.

Williams had claimed the track – a duet with Pet Shop Boys singer Neil Tennant – was praising the veteran star, and even gave her a personal playback earlier this summer to reassure her he wasn’t “stalking herâ€.

Madonna gave her approval to the track, but according to a report in the Daily Mirror today, the song actually refers to her husband Guy Ritchie’s parting words to TV presenter Strecker when he told her he couldn’t see her anymore because of his new relationship with Madonna.

According to Strecker, Guy explained to her, “Look, you know really I love you, but she’s Madonna.â€

To make matters even more complicated, Strecker – who has previously hinted she enjoyed liaisons with the film director when he was with Madonna – went on to date Williams after breaking up with Ritchie, although they only lasted four months as a couple.

A source from the song’s recording says, “It seems Robbie always had this conversation in the back of his mind for a song.

“Probably without releasing the subject matter behind the number, Madge gave the song the thumbs up when Robbie played it to her.

“Guy’s not going to be happy that all this is being dredged up again. Although everyone concerned has moved on, it’s a bit out of order that Robbie has used it as the basis for one of his songs.â€

The song is off Williams’ upcoming electro-pop album ‘Rudebox74’, and has been pencilled in for a dingle release early next year

And the same story from 3am page of today's Mirror

EXCLUSIVE:BITCHY ROBBIE

Eva Simpson & Caroline Hedley

ROBBIE Williams is either a very brave or a very foolish man.

The singer is risking the wrath of Madonna's husband Guy Ritchie by raking over the past on a track on his controversial new album.

Both dated leggy TV presenter Tania Strecker - Ritchie before he met Madonna and the Robster after the film director ditched her.

Now Robbie has plundered his own relationship with Tania for material on his experimental album Rudebox74, to be released later this year - but then he seems to have gone further.

Music industry insiders tell us the track She's Madonna is based on an alleged conversation Guy had with Tania when he left her.

According to her version of events, the man behind hit movies Lock, Stock and Snatch ended their romance with the words: "Look, you know I really love you, but she's Madonna."

Our man behind the mixing desk reveals: "It seems Robbie always had this conversation in the back of his mind for a song.

"Probably without realising the subject matter behind the song, Madge gave She's Madonna the thumbs-up when Robbie personally played it to her at her London home earlier this summer.

"No doubt he'll be keeping his fingers crossed that she'll agree to appear in the video when it's a single early next year." The track - a duet with Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys - is already being described as a pop masterpiece.

When unlucky-in-love Robbie, 32, dated Tania back in 2000 it looked as if he'd finally found someone he wanted to settle down with. But he ended the romance after four months because of the stress that it was causing him.

When Ritchie dated the 6ft blonde earlier she described him as the "love of her life" and was devastated when he ditched her for the Queen of Pop.

She said at the time: "Guy knew the best of me and the worst of me, and we still ended up becoming lovers. And then, it didn't work out.

"I always knew I wasn't as important to Guy as his career. He is great, but he needs a very strong woman to get through to him. But it's not so much he's Madonna's match as she's his."

A source adds: "Guy's not going to be happy that all this is being dredged up again. Although everyone concerned has moved on, it's a bit out of order that Robbie has used it as the basis for one of his songs. Surely he has enough stuff to write about."

Robbie's electro-pop album, due for release at the end of September, is his most experimental to date. Rudebox had its first official airplay today, although Radio 1's Scott Mills broke the embargo and played it on Friday.

The track - being released on September 4 - has been given the thumbs-up by fans who have heard it.

As with a lot of Robbie's material, it has references to sex and drugs. But somehow we doubt if Mr Ritchie will be dashing out to buy a copy.

Robbie Williams' Swear Box

Date : 24.07.2006

“HE was really tender. But I wanted to get dirty and he wasn’t comfortable with a lot of my ideas.â€

The words of Blonde Slag, a woman who claims to have met Robbie Williams in Gothenburg and stayed behind for an after-show performance, as reported by the Star.

Blonde Slag may or may not be a real name, but if her testimony is true, then Robbie might not be all that adventurous in bed. Fembot, another woman who says she slept with the singer on his current tour, replies to Ms Slag: “You’re right, he wasn’t that imaginative but was good at the basics.â€

Robbie, who is reportedly keeping a log of his sexual conquests on tour, might see his love making technique as a comment on his singing career. Robbie gives you what you expect but is neither satisfying nor daring. He fills a gap.

Take his new record Rudebox, not only has the tune a terrible title, but it is, as the Sun’s Victoria Newton says, the “worst record†she has ever heard. And as the Sun’s “showbiz writer of the yearâ€, Victoria has heard lots of bad records.

Robbie might agree, or he might not. It’s hard to know what he means by his comment on the song and the album that contains it: “Rudebox is loads of different things, sometimes it could be a vibe delivered in a spaceship direct to the studio, sometimes it's a really nasty girl dancing scantily clad, or sometimes it's a giant soundsystem...Sometimes it's actually just a box that tells you to f*** off too."

While we thrill to Robbie’s swear box, the more promising news is that British pop’s biggest star has not run utterly dry of ideas. The Mirror says that his album draws on his life to date and features a track called She’s Madonna.

Robbie once dated a certain blonde called Tania Strecker, a TV presenter who had been dating Guy Ritchie. According to rumour, the Mockney director ended his affair with Strecker with the line: “Look, you know I really love you, but she’s Madonna.â€

It’s a neat line. And forms the basis of Robbie’s song. Now if he can just get Blonde Slag to rap all over it, it cannot fail to be a hit...

Like A Prayer tops video poll

Madonna's Like A Prayer video has been voted the most groundbreaking of all time.

The controversial 1989 promo prompted a huge public outcry and was condemned as blasphemous by the Vatican.

Like A Prayer topped an MTV poll to find the top 100 videos that broke the rules.

Madonna features three times in the top five.

Her Ray Of Light video is fourth in the list, with Vogue in fifth place.

Britney Spears is second with her 1999 debut Baby One More Time.

The video of Spears performing a raunchy dance routine dressed in school uniform made her a pop superstar.

Michael Jackson is third with Thriller.

The release of the zombie horror in 1983 was a global news event. Thriller still holds the record for the longest music video ever made.

Jacko`s duet with sister Janet on Scream, 12 years later - said to be the most expensive music promo in history - is sixth.

MTV commissioned the poll of more than 10,000 viewers to mark the channel`s 25th anniversary.

Robbie Williams` Rock DJ, seventh in the list, featured the pop star peeling off his own skin and was deemed so shocking that MTV could only broadcast it in its entirety after the 9pm watershed.

The leotard-wearing ladies working out in Eric Prydz video Call On Me were eighth. :puke2:

Jamiroquai was ninth with Virtual Insanity, which appeared to show singer Jay Kay dancing in a room with moving walls.

The Spice Girls complete the top 10 with their debut hit Wannabe, unique in video history because it was filmed in one continuous take.

"25 years on from the birth of MTV, we can say that, contrary to all fears at the time, video definitely did not kill the radio star," said Mardi Caught, vice president of talent and music for MTV UK and Ireland.

"In fact, video has helped make music stars more vibrant, creative and impactful. Videos like Thriller and Like A Prayer aren`t just great promos - they`re pieces of pop history that broke new ground and are irrevocably wrapped up in how we perceive the artists themselves.

"And it`s great to see that the legacy of great video-making is very much alive and kicking with newer, more cheeky videos like Call On Me and Rock DJ being recognised too."

:: The full list will be unveiled in The Top 100 Videos That Broke The Rules which airs on MTV from 3.30pm on August 1.

Top 10 Videos That Broke The Rules

1. Madonna - Like A Prayer (1989)
