Are we supposed to reply over here or is it just for articles

No, you can reply as much as you like Nicky. The same as before. We've just organised everything a bit better. It's not quite finished yet but we're getting there.

School cashes in on Robbie

AN ENTERPRISING school raked in £5,000 when Robbie Williams fans flooded into Leeds last weekend.

Bosses at Roundhay School decided to turn their grounds into a giant car park for some of the 180,000 who watched the record-breaking gigs on Friday and Saturday.

And while shops, hotels and restaurants shared a £10m windfall, Roundhay staff and parents were busy collecting their share of the cash.

"In total, we raised about £5,000 for school funds," said deputy head teacher Jean Clennell. "The money will be spent on financing a residential for some of our disadvantaged or disabled children."

Roundhay was one of 11 secondary and primary schools that closed on the day of the first concert last Friday because of health and safety fears caused by the massive crowds.

Leeds City Council leader Mark Harris has since apologized for the way the concert was handled following a barrage of complaints from both parents who had to arrange childcare at the last moment, and from residents affected by street closures.

At Roundhay, all pupils apart from sixth formers were given the day off, although staff turned in for a training day. They were allowed to head home at lunchtime to avoid the expected long traffic queues.

"The PTA had already planned to open the car park for both the Friday and the Saturday concerts," said Mrs Clennell. "There were about 50 staff who stayed at school and they worked past midnight on the Friday and on the Saturday. We did the same sort of thing when Genesis played at Roundhay Park (in 1992). We think it was certainly well worth it."

Roundhay School was not alone in cashing in on the two sell-out gigs. Hotels were reportedly charging £450 for £50 rooms, while some taxi drivers were asking for up to £40 for a five-mile trip from the city centre.

The concerts were part of a worldwide tour by the former Take That member which broke the Guinness World Record by selling more than 1.6 million tickets in one day. Ticket revenue from the Leeds shows alone was approaching £10m. :o

Bad news.

There is a snippet on Music Week to say that EMI have pulled a track from promotional copies of Robbie's new album because of a threat of legal action.

I can't access any further to find out what track this is. Maybe Mikey can let us know tomorrow.

I'm assuming it's either the She's Madonna one ( because of that Ashley Hamilton story a few weeks ago) or the 90's one (because of the NMS story).

Bugger. I hate feckin lawyers.

Wonder if the CDs are already pressed for mass distribution? If so we may not be looking at a 23rd October release here.

New Robbie album in chaos

September 14, 2006

ROBBIE WILLIAMS could be forced to remove a track from his new album – plunging the CD into chaos just weeks before it is due to hit shops.

The release of Rudebox is in jeopardy because of a bitter legal battle between Robbie and his former manager over the song called The 90s.

The track charts Robbie’s years in TAKE THAT and he appears to make serious allegations about ex-boss NIGEL MARTIN-SMITH.

The pair have been feuding for years and Robbie quite clearly still hates him. Now Nigel is demanding the singer axe the track from the new album — otherwise he will take Robbie to court.

It is thought to be the first time an artist could be forced to pull a track for potential libel reasons.

Robbie’s record label EMI/Chrysalis face being forced to pulp any copies of the CD they have already printed for promotional use — and it could delay its October 23 release.

That would be a major headache since millions of pounds has already been spent on an advertising and marketing campaign.

A source said: “Nigel is getting really heavy with his lawyers over these allegations. He is taking it very seriously.

“He was furious when he found out about some of the lyrics in the song and wants it deleted from Robbie’s album.

“Robbie’s lawyers are now dealing with it and have agreed that no copies of the song will be distributed until the legal issues have been resolved. They have also agreed not to release the lyrics anywhere until it is all cleared up.â€

Robbie and Nigel have been at loggerheads ever since the singer left Take That.

Nigel sued him for breach of contract after he skived off to go to Glastonbury in 1995, leading to his exit from the band.

Robbie went on to hit back at his ex-boss in his song Karma Killer. In it he sings, “I hope you choke on your Bacardi and Cokeâ€. The tipple is Nigel’s favourite drink.

A source close to Nigel said: “Robbie has been having a go at Nigel for years and he’s finally had enough.†It would be a terrible shame if The 90s was scrapped — as one of the few people to have heard it, I can reveal it’s fantastic.

The track is part of a pair of songs on the album, along with one called The 80s which is about

Robbie’s school days when he passed the audition to be in a boy band.

The only alternative I can see is for Robbie to bleep out the offending lyrics and keep it on the album. He could maximise the controversy by adding in a line saying, “These lyrics were removed for legal reasons.â€

Last night a spokesman for the star refused to comment on the row.

But knowing Robbie, he’s already working on a clever way to get round it.

I'm actually glad it's that one and not the Madonna one.

From 3am in The Mirror. Hope to God they aren't talking about Our Man. :o

WILLIAMS IN DISCUSSIONS TO PULL 'LIBELOUS' TRACK

LATEST: British pop star ROBBIE WILLIAMS is reportedly being forced to rework his upcoming album RUDEBOX, after former TAKE THAT manager NIGEL MARTIN-SMITH initiated legal action over the track THE NINETIES. In the outspoken song, Williams details how he has fantasised about gouging the pop mogul's eyes out during his time with the chart-topping boy band. He sings, "Either you're a thief or you're s**t, which one will you admit to? Such an evil man, I used to fantasise about taking a Stanley knife and playing around with your eyes." After years of being publicly criticised by the ANGELS singer, Martin-Smith has snapped, and has allegedly hired top libel and defamation lawyer QC ANDREW CALDECOTT to take care of matters. British newspaper the Daily Mirror reports Martin-Smith is demanding The Nineties is removed from Rudebox, which is scheduled for a 23 October (06) release in the UK, or else he will take Williams to court. A source says, "Nigel is getting really heavy with his lawyers over these allegations. He is taking it very seriously. "Robbie's lawyers are now dealing with it and have agreed that no copies of the song will be distributed until the legal issues have been resolved." In the past, Williams has claimed Martin-Smith forced him to change his name, lose weight and even refused to pay him for a successful European tour with Take That.

:arrr:

I think Robbie should just let NMS take him to court. Sod him. :arrr:

All this is making me very

From all reports this is an excellent track and I will be gutted if we don't get to hear it, and if the album is delayed I will go insane  .

I am wondering if NMS would have found out about this if VN hadn't opened her big mouth and written that article about the track.

Hopefully we will get some official news soon. I wish NMS would just go and choke on his bicardi and coke already....oops....don't want him running off crying to his lawyers again :arrr: :arrr:   :puke: :banghead:

They could be. It is probably true that the launch party has been cancelled but not because of the reasons they suggest. I'm sure it is because of the legal problems with Nigel.

Yip. I really want to hear this song as well.

Wonder if he actually mentions NMS by name in the lyrics? If not, how can anyone prove who it's about? It could be about an imaginery figure. ( Ok, we all know but would that stand up in a Court?)

Oh God, no. Rob is not really lucky these days, is he...

So much is going wrong with this album, sometimes I think it's not meant to be. :(

As for Nigel, I don't even want to comment on that b****y b*****d. Besides, I think I have already done so in another thread when the news first came up. :puke2:

Wonder where NMS is getting all the money to hire these mega-expensive lawyers? I didn't think he was a multi-millionaire or anything but I could be wrong.

This could get quite messy though. If Robbie decides not to remove the 'offending' lyrics, NMS's lawyers would I guess need to obtain an injunction of some sort to stop the CD being released. But that injunction would only apply in England/Wales if obtained in an English Court. There's no way injunctions could be obtained in all countries in the world ( at least not before Oct 23  ).

So would the CD be released everywhere but England/Wales?

Or does any injunction affect the worldwide distribution?

And it's a civil matter, not a criminal matter so I've no idea what court action leads to. In fact, I've no idea why I'm waffling on here as I don't have a clue what I'm talking about.

All we need now is Ashley Hamilton's lawyers.

Track pulled from promotional Robbie albums

Source: Music week

EMI has pulled a track from promotional copies of Robbie Williams’ forthcoming studio album following the threat of legal action.

Nigel Martin-Smith, William’s former manager in Take That, threatened legal action against Williams and EMI should the song, titled The 90s, be released.

Although a statement issued today says, "The track has been removed from the album Rudebox and should not be reviewed," a spokesperson tells Music Week that a "final decision" has not yet been made. In today's statement, EMI asked reviewers not to copy, distribute or re-publish details of the content.

The 90s was the sequel to an autobiographical track called The 80s, which is also on the album's original track-listing. EMI will release the second single from Rudebox, a cover of the Lewis Taylor track Lovelight on November 13. Rudebox is released on October 23
