Radio 1 have announced Fearne Cotton will leave Radio 1 in May due to second Pregnancy, Clara Amfo will take over with the 10-1 slot. However she will leave her weekend Breakfast 1xtra slot. That will be taken over by Ace.

 

BBC Radio 1 today announced that Clara Amfo will join the daytime roster of DJs on Radio 1, becoming the new host of Radio 1’s Live Lounge, presenting the weekday 10am - 1pm show on the network from Monday 25 May. It was also announced that Fearne Cotton, who joined Radio 1 in 2005, will be leaving the station.

I for one will miss Fearne Cotton she is a natrual Radio presener, she knows her music, she loves her indie/alternative music and she is great at interviewing people. She will be missed by me for sure. She always manages to make me laugh and most of her new music picks I have got behind and liked. If I become a radio presenter I would like to be like her, crossed with Sara Cox and Zane Lowe as this three are who I look up to a lot. Congrulations though on the pregnancy. I will give Clara Amfo a listen but I hope when it comes to playing new music she plays a variety of genres not just urban music as we have 1xtra for that.

Fearne is one of my favourites too so I was gutted to read she was leaving. As mentioned, she's everything a presenter should be: friendly, up for a laugh and actually interested in music. Surprised Claro Amfo is taking over since she does the chart show too.

For those who think the length of today's TotD is long enough, well for whatever reason they've left Gregor Salto out of the remix credit for the single release, so it really should be a bit longer: :magic:

Gutted, I'd say Fearne and Zane were my two favourite presenters, hoping Huw Stephens doesn't leave any time soon!

 

Interesting that Clara is taking over during the week though, guess it does make a bit of sense given the new 'music release' date of a Friday, so perhaps she'll do the chart show on a Friday and then the midweeks on Monday/Tuesday.

That's a pretty big show for Clara considering she's just come on board. It's a proper daytime show and one of the main ones on the station, fair play to her.

 

Although I've been critical of her in the past I will miss Fearne she wasn't bad just more of a presenter rather than a passionate music person but that just my personal opinion.

 

Good luck to her I'm sure she will be presenting many a big bbc event in the future!!

I'm not sure how I feel about this as I have a love/hate thing with Fearne. Though having said that I only really listen to hers and Scott's shows anyway

Love Again - Rae Morris

Been listening to this a few times this morning and it's fantastic, love the way it builds throughout. Hope R1 continue their support for Rae.

That's a good single choice from Rae, easily one of the highlights of the album.
