Cover versions by Meghan Tonjes and Power Music Workout charted at numbers 70 and 13 respectively on the UK Singles Chart in September 2014. (Source: All About That Bass wikipedia article).

Sorry, but Power Music Workout "All About That Bass", DJ Stay The Night "Stay The Night" and The Mega Giants "Prayer In C" were all tenth-rate covers of songs that took advantage of those songs' late release in the UK, and they disappeared after the proper song was released.

Is your keyboard going crazy again? you seem to be making posts with half sentences and then re-editing them a minute later

Whooosh!

(and the Power Music Workout version was the better version anyway)

Yes it does sound better than the original

I forgot we weren't allowed to make jokes in the UK chart forum without people taking them seriously. T Boy was right :drama:

15. Foxes - Holding Onto Heaven (136)

14-24-39-52-57-x (5 weeks)

14. The Saturdays - Not Giving Up (138)

19-42-x (2 weeks)

13. Christina Perri - Human (146)

14-17-16-19-29-34-42-49-64-x (9 weeks)

12. Watermat - Bullit (148)

15-31-44-67-x (4 weeks)

11. Ellie Goulding - Goodness Gracious (153)

49-36-26-16-21-32-44-x (7 weeks)

Last year Foxes did very well in this competition with #12 smash 'Youth' going to #2. She doesn't quite repeat that success but starts the top 15 with Holding Onto Heaven, which I find average myself (don't shoot me Nelly. S) and I wasn't surprised to see this fall down the chart quickly.

Similarly to Demi Lovato earlier on, The Sats knew they couldn't make the top 20 using the normal post-album release strategy anymore so they held it back and scraped a #19 position. The next single they released did twice as bad though, only making #38. Flops.

Christina Perri, the chart queen of ballads was on course for her 3rd big smash, after the platinum selling Jar Of Hearts and A Thousand Years. It didn't do quite so well though, holding up well in the top 20 before swiftly exiting. Not a bad song though, I do like the message of it but like ATY it doesn't come close to matching the quality of Jar Of Hearts which is one of the best ballads ever in my opinion.

In the battle of the _a_ermats it is Watermat who comes out on top, deservedly too as it's PROPER AMAZING. It was great to have an instrumental like this make the chart but unfortunately like most less-commercial chart hits it made a very quick exit. Sad that this isn't top 10 here -_-

Ellie Goulding had a minor top 20 hit with Goodness Gracious which was about the right level of success for it, it was great but she's had better. A nice pop song though which is what Ellie is great at doing.

Top 10 (alphabetical order)

Ariana Grande feat. Zedd - Break Free

Avicii - Addicted To You

Ella Eyre - Comeback

Ella Eyre - If I Go

G.R.L - Ugly Heart

Hozier - Take Me To Church

Idina Menzel - Let It Go

Imagine Dragons - Demons

Indiana - Solo Dancing

Kylie Minogue - Into the Blue

A little disappointed for Foxes and The Saturdays, but I have a 60% chance of something I voted for winning! Only 4 songs I didn't vote for left! And Hozier is heading for #3 this week, so please, don't win.
Whooosh!

Please stop saying that, it's stupid.

Demons made the top 10? Oh dear...

Otherwise pretty strong! Double Ella is wonderful to see (and I'm going to pretend Hozier isn't there & that Ellie also made the top 10).

That last top 5 you posted though

Just kidding, they're AWESOMEEE!! :cheer:  :cheer:

Holding Onto Heaven is good,

And I don't know why but I really love Not Giving Up :D,

Human's vocals are powerful,

Bullit is an awesome electronic track ,

But the best 'til last is so good it was #5 on my 2014 chart until Coldplay knocked her off. Another track I don't know why I love. Maybe I should phone the producer of the track

Please stop saying that, it's stupid.

10. Avicii - Addicted To You (155)

64-36-24-14-14-15-20-23-24-28-35-42-57-x (13 weeks)

9. Ella Eyre - If I Go (157)

16-34-44-52-68-x (5 weeks)

Into the top 10 now so we'll be going down in smaller sections. Starting the top 10 funny enough is the best song in the top 10. Avicii of course had a massive era with this debut album True and whilst this was the first of the era to miss the top 10 it did very well, spending 4 weeks in the top 20. Its vocal, delivered by uncredited (obviously) vocalist Audra Mae is really good and despite the song being very short (the album version is under 2.5 minutes!) it does the job very well.

Ella Eyre came 2nd in the BBC Sound Of 2014 poll, behind Sam Smith, which makes as much sense in hindsight as it did at the time, with Sam Smith obviously doing much better than her. She did release some good songs though, like this which sounded like a potential top 5 hit but in the end underperformed. She has one more song to come, will it be #1?

Avicii, I'm Addicted To You

Love the 19something style video :D and great vocals/beat. Maybe could've pushed into the top 10 but surprised AND glad it made top 10 here :cheer:

Where has he said this before? Ed Str-

8. Indiana - Solo Dancing (158)

14-23-41-x (3 weeks)

7. Kylie Minogue - Into The Blue (165)

12-31-42-39-62-x (5 weeks)

#8 is Indiana's BRAND NEW single Solo Dancing which has somehow already been a top 20 hit. Oh. I forgot she's going for the silly album campaign strategy of re-releasing her only hit before dropping the album :hithead: That aside, it's a very good song and really should've done better. Unfortunately the re-release doesn't seem to be doing much for it anyway.

Kylie Minogue has been going in the music industry for over 25 years now and she proves she's kinda still got it with Into The Blue being a minor hit single, although the fanbase isn't large enough to get her a top 10 hit anymore. Even more embarrassing is that it got outsold by Pixie Lott when they went head to head that week. Major oops. Though she made up for it by spending more top 40 weeks, re-entering in its fourth week due to a Voice UK performance (I think)

Wow at Indiana in the top 10 :o

It's a good song but tbh it sounded like a forgotten hit  (especially seeing its chart performance)

Solo Dancing is rather underwhelming IMO. Into The Blue is actually a really strong comeback single, should have made top 10 over most of the new entries that week...

SIX of my voted songs made the top 15  :

Ariana Grande feat. Zedd - Break Free (6 pts)

G.R.L - Ugly Heart (12 pts)

Hozier - Take Me To Church (15 pts)

Idina Menzel - Let It Go (14 pts)

Imagine Dragons - Demons (13 pts)

Watermat - Bullit (3 pts)

I lost ONE in the 15-11 rundown :( :

12.Watermat - Bullit (3 pts)

FIVE of mine made the top 10  :

Ariana Grande feat. Zedd - Break Free (6 pts)

G.R.L - Ugly Heart (12 pts)

Hozier - Take Me To Church (15 pts)

Idina Menzel - Let It Go (14 pts)

Imagine Dragons - Demons (13 pts)

I lost NONE in the 10-7 rundown :w00t:

If Ella Eyre's "Comeback" is the number 6...then I have a solid FIVE in the top 5!! WHO ELSE CAN SAY THAT?? :P

6. Imagine Dragons - Demons (200)

75-x-63-52-30-19-13-19-23-26-35-45-54-66-66-60-68-x-71-53-60-x-51-x (20 weeks)

5. Ella Eyre - Comeback (205)

12-26-46-68-x (4 weeks)

Imagine Dragons miss out on a top 5 place, which is sad considering Hozier and Idina Menzel have yet to be announced. Whilst it's not my favourite of their songs, that would be Radioactive, I do love Demons for being the catchy upbeat radio friendly indie song that it is. Unsurprisingly it did very well on streams and had a respectable chart run too, but the band have still not had a top 10 hit yet.

Ella Eyre followed up If I Go with this, which peaked a few places higher but didn't exactly do a lot better or worse than it. I never really got into it but it's quite good, though If I Go is slightly better for me. It's still a shame that she never reached her potential with her solo career but at least we're getting another dance feature from her (Gravity) so yay for that.

Comeback is really good and my favourite Ella track. If I Go didn't stand out in any way so did nothing for me sadly but Comeback was very instant and I loved the feisty side of Ella.

Comeback is a good song but DEMONS :drama:

Amazing track the whole way through

Was even my #1 2014 track through last year for a while :kink:
