This will teach me not to rage quit a national final until the winner's reprise has begun, I need to see this big moment!
Lol what, wish I had watched this now  Ann Sophie was my fave from what I heard <3

Really enjoying the vibe this has going, sounding like one of the best entries this year so far.

I'd say that we can always count on Germany, but as the public didn't technically choose it

Oh my! I'm not quite sure what to think! :o

Obviously the boos are a shame (although justified considering people would have voted), but I guess they were directed to Andreas rather than Ann Sophie. I'm just glad that when Ann Sophie asked the crowd whether she should go to Vienna, they all cheered for her!

At the end of the day, this was the best song along with 'Frozen Silence' so good work from Germany in the end!

What an idiot, why enter a national final if you don't want to go to ESC  and especially why enter The Voice if you didn't want to win that either! Jesus. For all the people who have that dream to represent their country and try really hard, it must be a bit of a kick in the teeth for someone who was selected to just refuse. But we got the right winner in the end and Black Smoke is one of my faves so far, all's well that ends well I guess.

Also, Ann Sophie was born in London (and moved to Germany when she was 4) so us Brits can support her as our own if the UK entry is up to no good! :cheer:
Let's wait until AFTER our entry is revealed before we start clutching at straws!
"If", you have to love a bit of optimism :kink:

Aww, I find this whole episode quite nice actually, him discounting his televoters aside. There could be a whole number of reasons he entered it maybe not thinking he would win, there have been plenty of Melfest entrants over the years who'd I'd guess didn't enter to go to Eurovision in the slightest, albeit if they did win they couldn't exactly refuse in Sweden.

But anyway, not that I've heard either song yet, it's humbling that he gave it to someone who clearly wanted it far more than he did, and he possibly may have given Germany a better chance as well.

I certainly agree with this. Obviously it's unfortunate for the voters (and if it was the other way round I'd be very angry too), but the fact he did hand it over rather than just do Eurovision but not have his heart in it is a great thing.

escxtra are reporting he cited health reasons as another reason not to go to Vienna.

I think it's whichever got the most votes, after round 2 you were able to vote for either of the songs that had been performed. So I presume that 'Black Smoke' and 'Heart of Stone' got more votes than the round 1 songs!

By the way, 'Black Smoke' is co-written by Ella Eyre as I mentioned before - so that's something else exciting about this entry!

Andreas got 78.7% of the vote in the superfinal last night! I bet there's many pissed off Germans today.

Something even more remarkable, 'Black Smoke' was only given to Ann Sophie in the last 2 weeks as after she won the Wildcard Concert. Once she won was just given this song from the Universal demo pool - so it's amazing she's got such an amazing song that suits her so so well in such a short period of time.
