Yeah the minor comps Murray is a beast in, when it comes to the Slams he collapses against the big names (at the moment of course, he can still pull off a 2012 if he has his day) but not showing any signs of it in the Opens this year...

Konta is now in the fourth round after beating Andrea Petkovic 7-6 6-3 to set up a last 16 match against Petra Kvitova on Monday. If she wins she will become the first British woman to reach round 4 of a grand slam since Jo Durie at Wimbledon in 1984. This will now be Jo Konta's biggest prize money by far, and she will be challenging Heather Watson for British number 1. She has now won 16 matches in a row, do we think she can win another 4 and go all the way?

Who knows? Konta is easily in the best form of her life and I think she'll definitely give Kvitova a run for her money on Monday.

Nadal out of the US Open following being two sets up against Fognini and losing in 5 sets. First time this has ever happened to Nadal in a Grand Slam match.

Serena and Venus Quarter Final is official.

Will Venus want to win more, or allow her sister to get closer to a calendar grand slam.

It's a tough one. Even if Venus wanted to win then she needs to play her A game, but I don't know how long she can keep vintage Venus up for the match. I'd say Venus will give lil sis a practice round match for the semi-finale, Serena is about to make history.

I usually root for Venus before anyone, but it can't go wrong here.

If Venus is on her A game then it could go to 3 sets but I think there will be no problems for Serena in the match.

Kevin Anderson beating Andy Murray in 4 sets. First time since 2010 that Murray has been knocked out before the quarter-finals in a Grand Slam event.

Konta's run at the US Open has ended to a 7-5 6-2 defeat to Kvitova. A brilliant run for Konta now it's hope she can maintain that form throughout the upcoming months.

I hope Konta can do what Robson and Watson have failed to do and capitalise on this surprise success. It's a shame her good run is getting overlooked as Murray has crashed out.

Poor Andy. He'll bounce back fast enough (and I'd rather Roger got the best shot possible at winning so it's kind of a blessing...) but still.

I reckon Serena will come through 6-4 6-3 tomorrow.

Went to three sets between the Williams sisters. But Serena prevailed and will play Vinci in the semi-finals.

Djokovic and Cilic both through to the semis as well.

IIRC, Djokovic and Cilic play each other in the semis....

Stan vs Roger should be great. Both blasted through their QFs in about 90 minutes. Seriously praying Roger keeps his head and comes through.

Really looking forward to both men's semi-finals and the women's also.

Expecting a Serena v Halep final in the women's.

So backing Halep to win a slam I love her playing style, she would need to pull off an incredible performance to beat Serena!

Expecting a Serena v Halep final in the women's.

And the unexpected happened: Pennetta vs Vinci in the final.

I think it was a bit understandable the Halep lost, she had injury, she had a very busy US Open build-up (also there with some injuries) and Pennetta played some marvellous tennis.

As for Serena, I think she and the Media put too much pressure on her for winning the grand slam, and even such a strong player like her, couldn't handle it. But Vinci played also very well, all credit to her too.

I will cheer a bit more for Pennetta, I always loved her playing style :D

Pennetta is much more likeable than Vinci so hopefully she can pull off a win. Gutted for Serena though.

Roger made easy work of Stan so I'm feeling pretty good about his chances.

Wow. The final was pretty great in itself, but that ceremony was so emotional! Proper moment of shock when Pennetta announced her retirement. She literally achieved her dream and chose to go out there and then. What a woman.

I was cheering for Serena, but I was pretty happy that 2 such a nice girls played the final and it was also quite a good match. I always liked Pennetta, one of my favourite tennis players, and I'm so happy that she won and I will miss her game in the women's field. It was so emotional...

Also to see Vinci is not disappointed but joking with Flavia and smiling all the way, it was really really good to see. We need more of such attitude in Tennis (and not the Kyrgios style...).

A 10th Grand Slam title for Djokovic. Could he go on to match Federer's record of Grand Slam titles?
