3 Lucie Silvas (album: Breathe In // song: What You're Made Of)

4 The Saturdays (album: On Your Radar // song: Notorious)

5 Lily Allen (album: It's Not Me, It's You // song: Hard Out Here)

I was a fan of Lily Allen right from the moment I heard Smile back in 2006, and really wanted her album. My dad was a little restrictive on it at first because of the swearing, and I ended up telling a couple of white lies so I could still listen to said songs  I definitely didn't want to give that album up, as I love the majority of Alright, Still. Lily always brings it when it comes to albums, her second album being the best to date. Sheezus was a slight step down in quality but I expected that really, It's Not Me, It's You was always going to be hard to top. Sheezus isn't quite as bad as many make out though IMO, it's classic Lily but perhaps a little more grown up, now she's married and has kids, which is quite nice to hear. I saw her live last December and I'd probably say it's the second best concert I've seen, after Katy Perry's Prismatic tour. There wasn't any real concept, or choreography, it was just Lily singing her songs to the audience and having a bit of a chat, which made for a really enjoyable evening and I had the time of my life. Lily's comeback totally got me back into her music after I hadn't listened much for a few years, but she's totally worthy of her place in the top 5 here.

Huge Buzzjack faves The Saturdays are at #4. I never really liked The Saturdays at first, I saw them as like a cheap Girls Aloud knock-off, it wasn't until ~February 2011 when I started getting into them, as I borrowed my sister's copy of Wordshaker, totally spontaneously, and gave it a listen. I absolutely loved it and never looked back. I went back and bought the other albums and certainly made up for lost time! On Your Radar came later that year and OH MY GOD. What a flawless pop album it is! From singles Notorious and All Fired Up, ie. their best two tracks, to the absolutely STUNNING Last Call, written by none other than Lucie Silvas, funnily enough! The Saturdays always bring the pop jams no matter what you can say about them. Such a shame that they seem to be at the end of their success now but they've lasted longer than I expected so hats off to them. And at least they got that long-awaited #1!!

Just missing the top 2 is Lucie Silvas, my old favourite artist. Have I gone off Lucie? No, not at all! It's a similar situation to Delta actually, I kinda got bored of the waiting and I moved on from her. I first heard of Lucie with her breakthrough hit What You're Made Of in 2004 (not her first single - she had a #62 smash with It's Too Late in 2000, from an album that never surfaced as she was dropped right after it oops). Debut album Breathe In is still an absolute delight to listen to and I wouldn't skip a single track on it. Follow-up album The Same Side is almost as good, it develops the sound of Breathe In a tad more. However, it didn't match Breathe In's #11 peak or platinum certification, it spent one week top 100 at #62. :( Other than demos Lucie has posted since The Same Side's release in 2007, we got NOTHING until 2011 where she released Roots as a free download, then Reset in 2012 on Bandcamp. Then finally, Letters To Ghosts the song last year, before her self-titled EP this year. It's been a LONG ROAD, but we're finally getting somewhere!!

GIRLS ALOUD vs. ONE DIRECTION

WHO WILL WIN???

 she really is phenomenal! The three I'd skip are Dear John, Last Kiss and Long Live, but I don't dislike any of them as such, they just kinda drag on a little too long. Which one would you skip?

Innocent

I used to skip LK and LL but I now adore both, especially last kiss

Yay for Lily :cheer: She is amazing and INMIY is one of the best albums of all time :cheer:

The Saturdays are also amazing and I am so glad I have finally discovered Lucie Silvas. It took me about 7 years to realise the song on the now quiz and now I do, I love the song so much. The EP is also amazing

GA for the win :cheer:

So we now know the winner! But first, let's discuss the runner-up. One Direction came third on The X Factor in 2010, having been formed from five rejected soloists. I quite clearly remember Liam, Harry and Niall's auditions (the only three televised), Harry's especially cause let's face it, it was love at first sight. I was excited at a new boyband being formed, despite not being a big boyband fan at this point. I was totally sold from their performance of Torn onwards though. Skip forward to a year later and their debut single What Makes You Beautiful had premiered, and I was HOOKED. I downloaded it whilst on holiday in Devon and couldn't stop listening to it, I was all over it. I was beyond excited for the Up All Night album and bought it on release day alongside The Saturdays' On Your Radar. Naturally, I got the Harry slipcase :kink: Up All Night was a really good debut album though and I was hooked on it, and then they bettered it with second album Take Me Home. Midnight Memories was a step back for me in terms of quality despite a step forward in musical direction. It worked as a transition between Take Me Home and FOUR but overall, as much as I do still like it, it's my least favourite album by them. That sounds like I dislike it more than I do, I think it's great still, but just the least good of a brilliant bunch. FOUR really hit the spot though, more mature pop which you could tell they were happy to be releasing. I am finally getting the chance to see them live in September this year, having wanted to do so for a long time, so I'm really excited. Long live One Direction!

However, that was not enough to steal the crown from pop queens Girls Aloud. GA were the second group I ever liked, having bought their album on a whim as a 5 year old, having known NONE of their songs by this point  Although I found out I'd heard Sound of the Underground on the radio without knowing who it was. I turned down a soft toy so I could get an album by a group I didn't know if I'd like. I must've been mad. It's things like this that make me think destiny might actually be real, as cringy as that sounds  but it really was meant to be. Girls Aloud brought the pop jams for 7 years before a 3 year hiatus, which felt like it dragged for AGES. The return, however, was incredible. Something New is a contender for my all-time favourite song, never even got SLIGHTLY old and is a moment each and every time I listen to it. Sooooo much love. Beautiful 'Cause You Love Me, as much as I like it, was a bit of a shoddy finishing single, especially when they had the chance to start on the underground and finish on the metro!!! It will forever kill me that they never did that, it would've made me cry probably lmao. Each and every GA single holds a special place in my heart though, as do so many album tracks of theirs. None of the singles sound dated to me and I enjoy them all just as much now as I ever did, which really is remarkable considering they're up to 12 years old now. They may have split up but I still listen to them all the time and I will never ever stop loving Girls Aloud

Girls Aloud will always mean so much to me too. So strange that it's 2 years since they split already.
