The not-yet-titled fifth studio album by English-Irish boy band One Direction is expected to be released sometime this year via Syco and Columbia.

This album arrives preceded by the lead single “Drag Me Down“, the first proper release of the band without Zayn Malik, who left the group early this year.

The group is set to disband in March next year. The guys have mutually agreed to do an extended hiatus of at least a year to pursue solo projects, and therefore will not do a tour to promote their new album.

According Walmart costumer service, the band plans to release the album by surprise this Friday September 11th. Below you can watch a fan (Tumblr: zaynwontletmelive) calling and asking about the release date, and gets this shocking reply.

Wouldn't surprise me if they Beyoncé'd the album after the single.

I've seen these rumours too and apparently if you asked Siri, she said it was coming today. It'll definitely be interesting if they did!

Hmm I suppose it's very possible after how tell the single went down. I mean within the next 1-2 weeks is when you would expect we'd hear something.

 

I guess with them disbanding, they probably want to release 3 proper singles to promote the album - could see them sending another single to radio end of the month, then a final one nearer Christmas time (or January).

What week is the new Bieber album out? I think it's Nov 16th (that week anyway). Can probably assume they won't go head to head with him.
