Radio 1 have properly snubbed her now and there's no sign of Capital getting on board.

^ That's a real shame, especially as it's head and shoulders (/l'oreal shade :o) above the other two singles, which got support. If only she cared enough to promote post-album singles and it'd stand a much better chance of catching on despite being snubbed. -_-

I'm still loving it anyway. :music:

If only she cared to promote the ALBUM. She did one TV performance for CSL, one TV performance for IDC, ah and one TV performance for OH, and that's it. She's lazy and I can't forgive her for that anymore. Being her fan has become such a bore.

An artist who's past two singles were record breaking number 1's shouldn't logically be snubbed though, surely?

What records did they break? I thought she broke the female artist with the most number ones but did the songs break any performance records themselves like sales, weeks in charts, etc?

Yes, that's what I meant - the two number 1s contributed to her UK female artist number 1s record, which she won't be able to keep if the radios are ignoring her now.

It's a shame considering 'Only Human' is her most Radio 1 friendly single ever.

The album kind of flopped though and the last single was released 5 months ago, everyone thought she had given up on this era. For once I'm not particularly upset against Radio 1 and I can understand why they would snub her.

What this means though, is that they're unlikely to support her ever again now.

I don't see why. This single screams "end of era" and there is no excitement at all around this release.

I don't think Radio 1 are here for female popstars' ballads anyway, but I'm sure they'll be here for a "dancey" Cheryl comeback song.

And to be realistic, a new album probably won't happen before late 2016 at best, if she ever releases an other one.

When Radio 1 don't playlist a single by an artist, it usually means they've dumped them completely. I remember this same debate happening when they didn't playlist 'Not Giving Up' by The Saturdays.

Trouble is, it's kind of Cheryl's and ours fault. She came from a band, from whom we were used to blinding singles with equally blinding albums to match - partly in thanks to their autonomy with Xenomania, it has to be said - and magnificent promo trails that stretched out 6 weeks at a time.

Naturally, we expected these standards to be maintained as she entered her solo career. Then the other stuff - malaria, divorce, autonomy with will.I.am in her material etc, that I won't dwell on - happened. The trouble is she doesn't have, because of this injunction she now has against the press, the same frenzied level of interest around her.

And that's lovely in some respects - the intrusiveness she experienced c. 2008-11 wasn't pleasant for her - but limiting herself so much she's effectively killed off any chance whatsoever of having a single beyond the first two from her latest album even reaching top 20, let alone top 5 with the hit rate Girls Aloud used to have, because she does her whole demure 'I am going to leave you second guessing-bit' that she does on chat shows and only talking to really high brow publications which, compared to the Cheryl of old who said what she thought and literally didn't care on Paul O'Grady and CD:UK, is quite frankly irritating after a while.

Point is, if the lady herself is promoting with all the enthusiasm of a chief executive who has it all and turns up for the 30 minutes they're needed, the audience - i.e fans - shouldn't be greeting that attitude with the enthusiasm of a work experience kid who toils away for little recognition.

I sadly think however, Cheryl's days of doing full promo circuits for a single or album, even if it's the best thing she's released in a while (which this single and about 80% of this album is, I feel), are over.

Like others have said, she doesn't deserve to do well with this when she can't be bothered to push her own single. There ain't a rats chance in hell she'll have a fourth single from an album that has actually got quite a few songs that could have been single material.
I wonder why her label even invested in making this a single if there's seemingly no intention of her promoting it (i.e. performing it)? It's such a waste of time, and it's a shame because the song is strong and I feel like it had great potential. :(
I know, it doesn't make sense. Why bother doing the video / release the single if no one os bothered about promoting it?

Just watched her on Graham Norton. She was lovely but seriously, no performance?

The laziness of this era is unbelievable.

There's still a couple weeks before the release for her to do some promotion. :nocheer:
her husband went on an instarant criticising radio and her management for being too lazy to promote OH. looks like it might not be Cheryls fault after all.
