Sunday at 16:062 days Author 5th November 1995It's another week on top for Gangsta's Paradise, nothing able to shift it, seemingly, most likely contender Madonna up to 3 with You'll See, while lower down Saint Etienne, and Ace Of Base make inroads and Oasis still seem sluggish as release date gets nearer. The highest new netry is another D:Ream track I've forgotten - I'm not sure if Brian Cox was still touring with them at this time, his PhD must have been taking up his time! The Power is new at 32, which is a bit flattering, it's decent but not memorable. M People cover The Small Faces' Itchycoo Park at 35, one I didn't see coming as a choice of dance song, but it was a step up on D:Ream, though obv not as great as the quirky original which went top 10 in early 1976 for me. Behind M People, Disco 2000 is a surprisngly low entry for Pulp - it was instantly catchy, but for some reason didn't click entirely 5 years early. Second best new entry of the week, though! Enya's back in at a suitably higher spot, 27, and Robson & Jerome grab a chart slot with thier least bad cover, Up On The Roof had never charted for me at this point, but I loved the Carole King & Gerry Goffin song, and this was the closest I had come to an excuse to chart it.Bjork goes more obscure for her whimsical cover, It's Oh So Quiet going all 1940's big band, albeit in her own unique way, new at 45. The best new entry is Blur going melodic ballad again, The Universal at 53 is excellent and not as well-known as it should be. Whitney meanwhile drops a resonable effort in Exhale, in at 55, and then we get to the lesser-recalled as Bonnie Raitt & Bryan Adams rock-boogie Rock Steady, MN8 following up a chart-topper to lesser effect at 60, Indie Echobelly popping in for some Kerb crawling, Elvis barrel-scraping on his version of Twelfth Of Never, U2 having a diversion as The Passengers commentary of the Bosnian war brings in Brian Eno and Luciano Pavarotti. Hands up who had that combo getting together? Me, neither. Finally, Squeeze ride an Electric Train into my chart some 17 years after Take Me I'm Yours, and around the time I first saw them in concert I think.1 ( 1 ) GANGSTA’S PARADISE Coolio featuring LV 2 ( 2 ) WHEN LOVE AND HATE COLLIDE Def Leppard3 ( 12 ) YOU’LL SEE Madonna4 ( 4 ) EVERYBODY SAY EVERYBODY DO Let Loose5 ( 7 ) HAND IN MY POCKET Alanis Morissette6 ( 3 ) A CHANGE IS GONNA COME/A KIND OF CHRISTMAS CARD Morten Harket7 ( 6 ) MISSING (REMIX) Everything But The Girl8 ( 10 ) THEME FROM “PEOPLE’S CENTURY” Zbignieuw Preisner9 ( 8 ) I’D LIE FOR YOU (AND THAT’S THE TRUTH) Meat Loaf10 ( 9 ) FAIRGROUND Simply Red11 ( 25 ) HE’S ON THE PHONE Saint Etienne12 ( 11 ) FANTASY Mariah Carey13 ( 5 ) SORTED FOR E’S AND WHIZZ/MISSHAPES Pulp14 ( 31 ) LUCKY LOVE Ace Of Base15 ( 26 ) WONDERWALL Oasis16 ( 27 ) DIGGIN’ ON YOU TLC17 ( 17 ) GOLDENEYE Tina Turner18 ( 20 ) UNTIL MY DYING DAY UB4019 ( 18 ) WALKING IN MEMPHIS Cher20 ( 13 ) KID (ACOUSTIC) The Pretenders21 ( 16 ) STAYIN’ ALIVE N’Trance22 ( 22 ) LUCKY YOU The Lightning Seeds23 ( 15 ) LIGHT OF MY LIFE Louise24 ( 14 ) WHERE THE WILD ROSES GROW Nick Cave & Kylie Minogue25 ( 29 ) MISUNDERSTOOD MAN Cliff Richard26 ( 47 ) BLESSED Elton John27 ( 50 ) WHEN YOU SAY NOTHING AT ALL Alison Krauss28 ( 19 ) ALRIGHT Cast29 ( 23 ) WATERFALLS TLC30 ( 34 ) HEAVEN FOR EVERYONE Queen31 ( 30 ) WHEN YOU WALK IN THE ROOM Status Quo32 ( NEW ) THE POWER (OF ALL THE LOVE IN THE WORLD) D:Ream33 ( 21 ) RUNAWAY/WHEN I THINK OF YOU (REMIX) Janet Jackson34 ( 45 ) LIKE A ROLLING STONE The Rolling Stones35 ( NEW ) ITCHYCOO PARK M People36 ( NEW ) DISCO 2000 Pulp37 ( RE ) ANYWHERE IS Enya38 ( 24 ) U KRAZY KATS PJ & Duncan39 ( 28 ) CAN I TOUCH YOU...THERE Michael Bolton40 ( 61 ) AIN’T NOBODY Diana King41 ( 32 ) CAMDEN TOWN Suggs42 ( 42 ) 74 - ’75 The Connells43 ( NEW ) UP ON THE ROOF Robson Jerome44 ( 33 ) I CARE (SOUL TO SOUL) Soul II Soul45 ( NEW ) IT’S OH SO QUIET Bjork46 ( 35 ) SAME THING IN REVERSE Boy George47 ( 37 ) UNION CITY BLUE (REMIX) Blondie48 ( 38 ) DON’T YOU WANT ME (REMIX) Human League49 ( 40 ) YOU DO McAlmont Butler50 ( 36 ) BIG RIVER Jimmy Nail51 ( 46 ) I FEEL LOVE ’95 Donna Summer52 ( 43 ) FIND ME Jam & Spoon featuring Plavka53 ( NEW ) THE UNIVERSAL Blur54 ( 39 ) SUGAR FREE Pauline Henry55 ( NEW ) EXHALE (SHOOP SHOOP) Whitney Houston56 ( 48 ) HAPPY JUST TO BE WITH YOU Michelle Gayle57 ( 41 ) HIDEAWAY De’Lacy58 ( NEW ) ROCK STEADY Bonnie Raitt & Bryan Adams59 ( 70 ) THUNDER East 1760 ( NEW ) BABY IT’S YOU MN861 ( 49 ) BABY NOW THAT I’VE FOUND YOU Alison Krauss62 ( 62 ) BACK FOR GOOD Take That63 ( 63 ) DANCING QUEEN/EAGLE Abba64 ( 55 ) POWER OF A WOMAN Eternal65 ( 58 ) BY YOUR SIDE Jimmy Somerville66 ( NEW ) KING OF THE KERB Echobelly67 ( 59 ) WHEN I THINK OF YOU Kenny Thomas68 ( 68 ) YOU’VE LOST THAT LOVING FEELING The Righteous Brothers69 ( 56 ) LOVE EVICTION Quartzlock featuring Lonnie Gordon70 ( 65 ) A GIRL LIKE YOU Edwyn Collins71 ( NEW ) THE TWELFTH OF NEVER Elvis Presley72 ( 72 ) NO MORE ‘I LOVE YOU’S Annie Lennox73 ( NEW ) MISS SARAJEVO The Passengers74 ( NEW ) ELECTRIC TRAIN Squeeze75 ( 64 ) ON THE BIBLE Deuceplaylist oldies1 BABY I KNOW The Rubettes2 YOU’RE THE REASON WHY The Rubettes3 THEME FROM “THE MUNSTERS” Original Soundtrack4 THEME FROM THE BATMAN AND ROBIN ADVENTURES Original Soundtrack
Sunday at 16:302 days Author 12th November 1995It's a new entry at 1 in an otherwise quite chart week, as Michael Jackson bangs in with the epic Earth Song, spear-headed by the stunning Environmental promo video, underlining how humans are decimating the planet. Yes, it's overtly emotional and political - but it's entirely right, and it had my instant approval, and love. I have no time for anyone slagging it off for trying to make a point while they stand by and do nothing. Put up or shut up. By this time I'd already had 25 years of politicians ignoring environmentalists, and now there's another 30 years more on top and things get worse by the year. It seems at least a million UK people agreed with me by the new year, as sales of the single went through the roof, where the over-priced new album/hits album combo didn't. Michael Jackson's instant 12th solo number one, plus another 3 with the Jacksons. This all bad news for Oasis who are denied getting a second number one with Wonderwall up to 2, future anthem of many a karaoke bar. Whatever was the first, but Saint Etienne grab another top 10, and UB40 an unexpected 15th year of top 10's with Until My Dying Day. Back in at 14 15 years later, Hungry Heart out-peaks its original run for Bruce Springsteen, but not by much, and Definition Of Sound had a good new entry with Pass The Vibes at 47, one ahead a Sentimental Deborah Cox, smooth r'n'b, but behind a New Age song at 26 from Sacred Spirit, Wishes Of Happiness And Prosperity, devoted to getting legal rights redress to Native Americans, and using traditional music sounds. I liked it. That just leaves The Original having a follow-up dance banger at 65. 1 ( NEW ) EARTH SONG Michael Jackson2 ( 15 ) WONDERWALL Oasis3 ( 7 ) MISSING (TODD TERRY REMIX) Everything But The Girl4 ( 8 ) THEME FROM “PEOPLE’S CENTURY” Zbignieuw Preisner5 ( 3 ) YOU’LL SEE Madonna6 ( 1 ) GANGSTA’S PARADISE Coolio featuring LV7 ( 4 ) EVERYBODY SAY EVERYBODY DO Let Loose8 ( 11 ) HE’S ON THE PHONE Saint Etienne9 ( 18 ) UNTIL MY DYING DAY UB4010 ( 2 ) WHEN LOVE AND HATE COLLIDE Def Leppard11 ( 9 ) I’D LIE FOR YOU (AND THAT’S THE TRUTH) Meat Loaf12 ( 5 ) HAND IN MY POCKET Alanis Morissette13 ( 14 ) LUCKY LOVE Ace Of Base14 ( NEW ) HUNGRY HEART Bruce Springsteen15 ( 16 ) DIGGIN’ ON YOU TLC16 ( 12 ) FANTASY Mariah Carey17 ( 17 ) GOLDENEYE Tina Turner18 ( 10 ) FAIRGROUND Simply Red19 ( 32 ) THE POWER (OF ALL THE LOVE IN THE WORLD) D:Ream20 ( 30 ) HEAVEN FOR EVERYONE Queen21 ( 6 ) A CHANGE IS GONNA COME/A KIND OF CHRISTMAS CARD Morten Harket22 ( 53 ) THE UNIVERSAL Blur23 ( 43 ) UP ON THE ROOF Robson Jerome24 ( 36 ) DISCO 2000 Pulp25 ( 13 ) SORTED FOR E’S AND WHIZZ/MISSHAPES Pulp26 ( NEW ) WISHES OF HAPPINESS AND PROSPERITY Sacred Spirit27 ( 19 ) WALKING IN MEMPHIS Cher28 ( 21 ) STAYIN’ ALIVE N’Trance29 ( 45 ) IT’S OH SO QUIET Bjork30 ( 34 ) LIKE A ROLLING STONE The Rolling Stones31 ( 20 ) KID (ACOUSTIC) The Pretenders32 ( 28 ) ALRIGHT Cast33 ( 37 ) ANYWHERE IS Enya34 ( 33 ) RUNAWAY/WHEN I THINK OF YOU (REMIX) Janet Jackson35 ( 35 ) ITCHYCOO PARK M People36 ( 22 ) LUCKY YOU The Lightning Seeds37 ( 24 ) WHERE THE WILD ROSES GROW Nick Cave & Kylie Minogue38 ( 29 ) WATERFALLS TLC39 ( 26 ) BLESSED Elton John40 ( 55 ) EXHALE (SHOOP SHOOP) Whitney Houston41 ( 23 ) LIGHT OF MY LIFE Louise42 ( 39 ) CAN I TOUCH YOU...THERE Michael Bolton43 ( 42 ) 74 - ’75 The Connells44 ( 38 ) U KRAZY KATS PJ & Duncan45 ( 27 ) WHEN YOU SAY NOTHING AT ALL Alison Krauss46 ( 25 ) MISUNDERSTOOD MAN Cliff Richard47 ( NEW ) PASS THE VIBES Definition Of Sound48 ( NEW ) SENTIMENTAL Deborah Cox49 ( 41 ) CAMDEN TOWN Suggs50 ( 71 ) THE TWELFTH OF NEVER Elvis Presley51 ( 31 ) WHEN YOU WALK IN THE ROOM Status Quo52 ( 51 ) I FEEL LOVE ’95 Donna Summer53 ( 73 ) MISS SARAJEVO The Passengers54 ( 47 ) UNION CITY BLUE (REMIX) Blondie55 ( 48 ) DON’T YOU WANT ME (REMIX) Human League56 ( 66 ) KING OF THE KERB Echobelly57 ( 52 ) FIND ME Jam & Spoon featuring Plavka58 ( 58 ) ROCK STEADY Bonnie Raitt & Bryan Adams59 ( 59 ) THUNDER East 1760 ( 56 ) HAPPY JUST TO BE WITH YOU Michelle Gayle61 ( 63 ) DANCING QUEEN/EAGLE Abba62 ( 62 ) BACK FOR GOOD Take That63 ( 46 ) SAME THING IN REVERSE Boy George64 ( 54 ) SUGAR FREE Pauline Henry65 ( NEW ) B 2 GETHER The Original66 ( 68 ) YOU’VE LOST THAT LOVING FEELING The Righteous Brothers67 ( 74 ) ELECTRIC TRAIN Squeeze68 ( 61 ) BABY NOW THAT I’VE FOUND YOU Alison Krauss69 ( 72 ) NO MORE ‘I LOVE YOU’S Annie Lennox70 ( 70 ) A GIRL LIKE YOU Edwyn Collins71 ( RE ) BOOMBASTIC Shaggy72 ( 57 ) HIDEAWAY De’Lacy73 ( 40 ) AIN’T NOBODY Diana King74 ( 64 ) POWER OF A WOMAN Eternal75 ( 75 ) ON THE BIBLE Deuceplaylist of the week1 PANINARO ’95/ INTO THE NIGHT Pet Shop Boys2 CHIQUITITA ABBA3 THEME FROM “THE MUNSTERS” Original Soundtrack
Sunday at 16:492 days Author 19th November 1995It's 2 weeks on top for Earth Song, as Everything But The Girl get a late surge to 2 with their classic remix of Missing, for a pretty powerful top 4. Ace Of Base are back on top 10 form, meanwhile, as Lucky Love clicks properly and up to 5 for a 3rd top 10, just ahead of the charity Native American track at 6, and Enya also grabbing her 3rd solo top 10 with Anywhere Is. Tina Turner meanwhile takes her Bond theme to 8 for a top 10 run of 22 years since Nutbush City Limits became her one and only chart-topper, with the Ex. Bjork, meanwhile, in a very hectic top 10, grabs a quiet 3rd top 10 in the same week she grabs a 4th top 10 30 years later.Highest new entry is an acoustic version of The Pretenders 1983 Christmas goodie 2000 Miles, at 27, Prince has a Gold record out at 32, and one of his better efforts of late, while Skee-Lo debuts with a catchy, quirky goodie I Wish at 38. Still fun that one. Norman Cook is second only to Jonathan King in the number of aliases he has charted with, this time it's Pizzaman, having a slice of Happiness at 41. Annie Lennox does Something So Right at 45 - she's covered Paul Simon! Ant & Dec havent yet switched to their real names, but keep the surprsingly long run of hits coming with Perfect at 50, for them a real slowdown in tempo, and quite nice. I think if anyone ever played their hits (as if!) they might be surprised at the variety. That and the light vocals. Down lower end, Crystal Waters is Relax-ing, not Frankie Goes To Hollywood, at 56, Oleta Adams is resorting to a remix for Rhythm Of Life, and Frankie Knuckles is housing it up with Adeva on What Do You Want From Me at 65. Others: Happy Clappers, I Believe are at 67, Therapy think about Diane, 68, neither of which I recall, Bon Jovi Lie To Me at 71, and ditto, while Sean MaGuire covers The Real Thing needlessly at 75. The Beautiful South and Erasure both pop up with new tracks that aren't generally remembered these days, Pretenders To The Throne, and Fingers And Thumbs. I will play them again if they get near the top end of my chart - at this point I don't know! 1 ( 1 ) EARTH SONG Michael Jackson2 ( 3 ) MISSING (TODD TERRY REMIX) Everything But The Girl3 ( 2 ) WONDERWALL Oasis4 ( 4 ) THEME FROM “PEOPLE’S CENTURY” Zbignieuw Preisner5 ( 13 ) LUCKY LOVE Ace Of Base6 ( 26 ) WISHES OF HAPPINESS AND PROSPERITY Sacred Spirit7 ( 33 ) ANYWHERE IS Enya8 ( 17 ) GOLDENEYE Tina Turner9 ( 29 ) IT’S OH SO QUIET Bjork10 ( 5 ) YOU’LL SEE Madonna11 ( 6 ) GANGSTA’S PARADISE Coolio featuring LV12 ( 22 ) THE UNIVERSAL Blur13 ( 11 ) I’D LIE FOR YOU (AND THAT’S THE TRUTH) Meat Loaf14 ( 15 ) DIGGIN’ ON YOU TLC15 ( 8 ) HE’S ON THE PHONE Saint Etienne16 ( 14 ) HUNGRY HEART Bruce Springsteen17 ( 9 ) UNTIL MY DYING DAY UB4018 ( 10 ) WHEN LOVE AND HATE COLLIDE Def Leppard19 ( 12 ) HAND IN MY POCKET Alanis Morissette20 ( 7 ) EVERYBODY SAY EVERYBODY DO Let Loose21 ( 32 ) ALRIGHT Cast22 ( 16 ) FANTASY Mariah Carey23 ( 23 ) UP ON THE ROOF Robson Jerome24 ( 24 ) DISCO 2000 Pulp25 ( 18 ) FAIRGROUND Simply Red26 ( 20 ) HEAVEN FOR EVERYONE Queen27 ( NEW ) 2000 MILES (ACOUSTIC) The Pretenders28 ( 28 ) STAYIN’ ALIVE N’Trance29 ( 47 ) PASS THE VIBES Definition Of Sound30 ( 19 ) THE POWER (OF ALL THE LOVE IN THE WORLD) D:Ream31 ( 27 ) WALKING IN MEMPHIS Cher32 ( NEW ) GOLD Prince33 ( 21 ) A CHANGE IS GONNA COME/A KIND OF CHRISTMAS CARD Morten Harket34 ( 35 ) ITCHYCOO PARK M People35 ( 48 ) SENTIMENTAL Deborah Cox36 ( 34 ) RUNAWAY/WHEN I THINK OF YOU (REMIX) Janet Jackson37 ( 40 ) EXHALE (SHOOP SHOOP) Whitney Houston38 ( NEW ) I WISH Skee-Lo39 ( 36 ) LUCKY YOU The Lightning Seeds40 ( 25 ) SORTED FOR E’S AND WHIZZ/MISSHAPES Pulp41 ( NEW ) HAPPINESS Pizzaman featuring Norman Cook42 ( 38 ) WATERFALLS TLC43 ( 37 ) WHERE THE WILD ROSES GROW Nick Cave & Kylie Minogue44 ( 31 ) KID (ACOUSTIC) The Pretenders45 ( NEW ) SOMETHING SO RIGHT Annie Lennox46 ( 43 ) 74 - ’75 The Connells47 ( 30 ) LIKE A ROLLING STONE The Rolling Stones48 ( 42 ) CAN I TOUCH YOU...THERE Michael Bolton49 ( 41 ) LIGHT OF MY LIFE Louise50 ( NEW ) PERFECT PJ & Duncan51 ( 65 ) B 2 GETHER The Original52 ( 52 ) I FEEL LOVE ’95 Donna Summer53 ( 53 ) MISS SARAJEVO The Passengers54 ( 49 ) CAMDEN TOWN Suggs55 ( 55 ) DON’T YOU WANT ME (REMIX) Human League56 ( NEW ) RELAX Crystal Waters57 ( 73 ) AIN’T NOBODY Diana King58 ( 45 ) WHEN YOU SAY NOTHING AT ALL Alison Krauss59 ( 71 ) BOOMBASTIC Shaggy60 ( 44 ) U KRAZY KATS PJ & Duncan61 ( 61 ) DANCING QUEEN/EAGLE Abba62 ( 62 ) BACK FOR GOOD Take That63 ( 60 ) HAPPY JUST TO BE WITH YOU Michelle Gayle64 ( NEW ) RHYTHM OF LIFE (REMIX) Oleta Adams65 ( NEW ) WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME Frankie Knuckles & Adeva66 ( 66 ) YOU’VE LOST THAT LOVING FEELING The Righteous Brothers67 ( NEW ) I BELIEVE The Happy Clappers68 ( NEW ) DIANE Therapy69 ( 69 ) NO MORE ‘I LOVE YOU’S Annie Lennox70 ( 70 ) A GIRL LIKE YOU Edwyn Collins71 ( NEW ) LIE TO ME Bon Jovi72 ( NEW ) PRETENDERS TO THE THRONE The Beautiful South73 ( NEW ) FINGERS AND THUMBS (COLD SUMMER’S DAY) Erasure74 ( 54 ) UNION CITY BLUE (REMIX) Blondie75 ( NEW ) YOU TO ME ARE EVERYTHING Sean MaGuireplaylist1 GOD ONLY KNOWS The Beach Boys2 HONEY I’M LOST The Dooleys3 HOW TO FALL IN LOVE PART 1 The Bee Gees
Sunday at 17:102 days Author 26th November 1995It's hectic at the top end as Earth Song gets 3 weeks on top and holds off an event - the first official Beatles single in 25 years. Free As A Bird was a cassette demo Yoko Ono gave to the fabs, along with Real Love and Now And Then, songs of John Lennon that weren't developed by the time of his murder in 1980, and together with mate Jeff Lynne they came up with 3 minor gems (eventually). The first two to appear on editions of double album Anthology series of 3 album releases featuring rare and alternative takes on catalogue Beatles stuff tarted up a bit. Free As A Bird had a nostalgic video, state of the art, and was promo'd to radio ahead of Anthology 1, with no single release to boost album sales week one. This was a bad mistake as it must have lost a lot of sales to the single when it came out week 2 or 3 and peaked at 2 in the chart instead of 1. That annoyed me, even if it was held off here by Earth Song as well! Real Love meanwhile pops in unofficially at 76 months ahead of its release on Anthology 2. Anthology 4 will be out in 2025 soon, with the revamped AI versions of John's vocal on these two tracks, and their 2023 chart-topper which has already been AI'd for crisper vocals. Blur are up to 5, unlucky to get blocked with big releases, and Definition Of Sound also slot into the top 10 nicely. Lower down, Tina Arena covers Maria McKee, Roxette remix 1989's The Look, and fellow Scandi-pop The Wannadies return with Might Be Stars at 38. Jam & Spoon follow-up their top 10 with Angel for a spot of dance. at 40. Celine Dion is Misled at 47 - or as I pronounced it before I knew how to pronounce it in the early 70's: Myzulled. On the Country Music video channel Emmylou Harris' new album (which is great) Wrecking Ball debuts the title track (a Neil Young song) at 51 - Daniel Lanois of U2 fame produced, and as it wasnt available as a single I bought the album eventually, in Florida. Simply Red are Remembering The First Time at 58, but I can only vaguely remember this song, no doubt pleasant as usual, Black Grape reference a 60's movie, Kelly's Heroes, Diana Ross claims she's gone, but she isn't, Boom Shake The Room gets a belated remix for no reason, and The Beatles take over my playlist. Quite right too. 1 ( 1 ) EARTH SONG Michael Jackson2 ( NEW ) FREE AS A BIRD The Beatles3 ( 3 ) WONDERWALL Oasis4 ( 2 ) MISSING (TODD TERRY REMIX) Everything But The Girl5 ( 12 ) THE UNIVERSAL Blur6 ( 4 ) THEME FROM “PEOPLE’S CENTURY” Zbignieuw Preisner7 ( 7 ) ANYWHERE IS Enya8 ( 29 ) PASS THE VIBES Definition Of Sound9 ( 5 ) LUCKY LOVE Ace Of Base10 ( 8 ) GOLDENEYE Tina Turner11 ( 9 ) IT’S OH SO QUIET Bjork12 ( 32 ) GOLD Prince13 ( 10 ) YOU’LL SEE Madonna14 ( 11 ) GANGSTA’S PARADISE Coolio featuring LV15 ( 6 ) WISHES OF HAPPINESS AND PROSPERITY Sacred Spirit16 ( 17 ) UNTIL MY DYING DAY UB4017 ( 14 ) DIGGIN’ ON YOU TLC18 ( 15 ) HE’S ON THE PHONE Saint Etienne19 ( 41 ) HAPPINESS Pizzaman featuring Norman Cook20 ( 50 ) PERFECT PJ & Duncan21 ( 24 ) DISCO 2000 Pulp22 ( 16 ) HUNGRY HEART Bruce Springsteen23 ( 13 ) I’D LIE FOR YOU (AND THAT’S THE TRUTH) Meat Loaf24 ( 45 ) SOMETHING SO RIGHT Annie Lennox25 ( 21 ) ALRIGHT Cast26 ( 19 ) HAND IN MY POCKET Alanis Morissette27 ( 18 ) WHEN LOVE AND HATE COLLIDE Def Leppard28 ( NEW ) SHOW ME HEAVEN Tina Arena29 ( 25 ) FAIRGROUND Simply Red30 ( 22 ) FANTASY Mariah Carey31 ( 20 ) EVERYBODY SAY EVERYBODY DO Let Loose32 ( 34 ) ITCHYCOO PARK M People33 ( 23 ) UP ON THE ROOF/ I BELIEVE Robson Jerome34 ( 28 ) STAYIN’ ALIVE N’Trance35 ( NEW ) THE LOOK ’95 Roxette36 ( 38 ) I WISH Skee-Lo37 ( 27 ) 2000 MILES (ACOUSTIC) The Pretenders38 ( NEW ) MIGHT BE STARS The Wannadies39 ( 26 ) HEAVEN FOR EVERYONE Queen40 ( NEW ) ANGEL Jam & Spoon41 ( 33 ) A CHANGE IS GONNA COME/A KIND OF CHRISTMAS CARD Morten Harket42 ( 37 ) EXHALE (SHOOP SHOOP) Whitney Houston43 ( 53 ) MISS SARAJEVO The Passengers44 ( 36 ) RUNAWAY/WHEN I THINK OF YOU (REMIX) Janet Jackson45 ( 31 ) WALKING IN MEMPHIS Cher46 ( 40 ) SORTED FOR E’S AND WHIZZ/MISSHAPES Pulp47 ( NEW ) MISLED Celine Dion48 ( 42 ) WATERFALLS TLC49 ( 39 ) LUCKY YOU The Lightning Seeds50 ( 72 ) PRETENDERS TO THE THRONE The Beautiful South51 ( NEW ) WRECKING BALL Emmylou Harris52 ( 65 ) WHADDYA YOU WANT FROM ME Frankie Knuckles & Adeva53 ( 30 ) THE POWER (OF ALL THE LOVE IN THE WORLD) D:Ream54 ( 43 ) WHERE THE WILD ROSES GROW Nick Cave & Kylie Minogue55 ( 46 ) 74 - ’75 The Connells56 ( 52 ) I FEEL LOVE ’95 Donna Summer57 ( 35 ) SENTIMENTAL Deborah Cox58 ( NEW ) REMEMBERING THE FIRST TIME Simply Red59 ( 48 ) CAN I TOUCH YOU...THERE Michael Bolton60 ( 64 ) RHYTHM OF LIFE (REMIX) Oleta Adams61 ( 44 ) KID (ACOUSTIC) The Pretenders62 ( 61 ) DANCING QUEEN/EAGLE Abba63 ( 71 ) LIE TO ME Bon Jovi64 ( 62 ) BACK FOR GOOD Take That65 ( 73 ) FINGERS AND THUMBS (COLD SUMMER’S DAY) Erasure66 ( 66 ) YOU’VE LOST THAT LOVING FEELING The Righteous Brothers67 ( 63 ) HAPPY JUST TO BE WITH YOU Michelle Gayle68 ( 56 ) RELAX Crystal Waters69 ( NEW ) KELLY’S HEROES Black Grape70 ( 69 ) NO MORE ‘I LOVE YOU’S Annie Lennox71 ( 70 ) A GIRL LIKE YOU Edwyn Collins72 ( 55 ) DON’T YOU WANT ME (REMIX) Human League73 ( 60 ) U KRAZY KATS PJ & Duncan74 ( NEW ) I’M GONE Diana Ross75 ( NEW ) BOOM SHAKE THE ROOM ’95 DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince76 ( NEW ) REAL LOVE The Beatlesplaylist1 REAL LOVE The Beatles2 THE RUNNER The Three Degrees3 TICKET TO RIDE The Beatles4 NOWHERE MAN The Beatles
Sunday at 18:131 day Late 1995 charts always will remind me about one lady, who had both Oasis and Robson & Jerome at # 1 for five weeks (three weeks for Wonderful, two weeks for I Believe). She had very interesting music taste, loved oldies (Elvis, Cliff, Engelbert), but also Oasis, Divine Comedy and some boybands Westlife, Boyzone, Take That.Earth Song is the best MJ single.
