September 16, 200618 yr Author B). EXACTLY. Even though that weird thing Supernanny does about locking a kid in a room for a bit isn't good either. I swear my Maw did that to me once and I wasn't tall enough to open the door and I cried weeeelll tonnes. I just told you on msn! Why ask!? B), but yeah it's because the "screaming and demonstrating how to look and act like a fool achieves want you want" jazz. I hate Supernanny, I bet she doesn't have kids of her own. I remember falling down a hole in a park? That was painful. Because I wrote this before you said on msn. That's ok then. =]

That's like when I was riding my bike in the park and didn't brake in time and crashed into some random log, haha. Same difference though. It would've been okay anywayz obv =/.

I think I read she's like 35 and lives with her dad? About 7, PAIN. It was well scary. :o Once I was riding my bike down a hill and holding Pokemon cards at the same time and swerved in the road and went round and round like a coin and just fell off the bike infront of a car. Haha. Let's not go over old ground, we've just said all this on msn!
September 16, 200618 yr What are your thoughts on the topic then? Tbh, I agree with Ozzy to an extent. I know what he means when he says punshiing a child in a supermarket for making nosie and going ahead IS accpetable, because no matter what Lucy says giving into the child is sending the wrong message. I was smacked as a child, though not often, and I honestly believe it made a few things hit home to me that me and my sister still carry today - if it wasn't for smacking I'd hate to think what I would be like now. Saying that, some parents do go too far and teachers should NEVER be permitted to smack - so it's a difficult situation to resolve ^_^ Why do you ask?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH BEST EVER!! That's like the day Imran & Craig fought over a chairleg that was Imran's, but that Craig had found and Craig hit him over the head with the leg, lawlz. And when Ehsan was riding a bike down the hill and started speeding up and it ramooly just collapsed and he fell funnily. Morelike No Man's Land!
September 16, 200618 yr Do you think most parents would smack their kids in the shop in front of everyone though? I think they should, even if it's only a light tap, and I've seen many parents do it too. It never gives off a bad impression in the situations I've seen, everyone else just seems happy that the kid has stopped wailing. The look on some people's faces when the mother gives into the child and buys him/her some sweets is much worse, and makes the parents look a lot worse for it.

Won't it make the kid cry more though lol? Generally when you hit a child they cry.
September 16, 200618 yr Won't it make the kid cry more though lol? Generally when you hit a child they cry. But it depends if the child is really crying, or just whining to get his/her own way. If it's crying then obviously something else needs to be done, if it's whining to get it's own way a smack usually shuts them up from what I've seen ^_^

September 16, 200618 yr There must be other ways though, hitting them isn't the only solution. Oh no, i'm not saying there isn't another way, this way just seems to work and I don't see a problem with it. More severe smacking I am strongly against because sometimes you wonder what damage it's doing to the child -_-

More severe smacking I am strongly against because sometimes you wonder what damage it's doing to the child -_- Ok. ^_^ Yeah, sometimes when I see parents hit their kids, it's a bit too hard. And if that's in the street you wonder what goes on at home... There's one woman who really hits the kids hard, she's got about 4, the younger ones are seeing the older boy get smacked, and she held him down on the floor once, they are so small, and she's really big. They aren't even naughty, it's the slightest thing like they're not walking fast enough. She really swears at them too. My mum considered following her and reporting her to social services.

Well that's what I meant when I said some parents take it too far. You should never hit your child when you're angry imo, because no doubt you'll end up hitting them harder than you would if you were calm - and that's when things really do go too far. And you shouldn't swear at them either, that just proves to everyone else that you're lashing out because you're angry, which doesn't make you look good at all. -_-
September 16, 200618 yr cant be arsed to read everything put... no time :) as a parent i have never had to resort to hiting my kids... ive always had a 'three warnings' rule . they then had the choice and all decided that they wouldnt want to be hurt so behaved!

September 16, 200618 yr its all very well everyone jumping on the no smacking bandwagon, but unless you have been a parent, you haven't got a clue. There is an important difference between a gentle smack and a beating. I see no problem at all in a gentle smack for discipline purposes, but I totally abhore punching, hitting with fists etc which is gbh to be honest. But removing the rights of parents to discipline their children can lead to unruly kids who literally get away with murder. Getting the belt(strap) at school was the norm when I was at school, but at least you respected your teachers more. Today kids verbally abuse and physically abuse teachers and there is nothing teachers can do about it. This is not acceptable.

I don't know whether brining back the cain or belt would work in schools nowadays though. I'm still at school and I couldn't imagine what it would be like if it came back but the teachers would certainly be treated with a lot more respect. I mean i've been on Work Exp this week but supposivley a year 8 at my school was arrested on friday for threataning a teacher with a knife. :o

Society has moved on and violence is worse now than in the past, especially in schools, I somehow can't see this being a good deterant nowadays.

And plus I've always babysitted my littlest sister for a long time so, SAME THING moreorless! So I hate the whole "Oh, you don't know unless you're a parent" theory, it doesn't cut the mustard I'm afraid. 2nd paragraph's good yeah, but as we've been saying throughout like, 6 odd pages, there are other ways of disciplining kiddies without having to touch them and potentially harm them. All it takes is one swift move! And everyone should so stop bringing the "I WAS CANED!" jazz up, like, srsly it's the 21st Century now not the Iron Ages, lawlz. And that's because the teacher's hired nowadays are just sh*t usually because they're 50 odd usually, and asif they're in the know of anything. SENILE.
