They've taken all the bite out of Bros - the new version is complete rubbish compared the original release.

Yes, a little disappointing - I'll stick with the original thanks.

I was never a big fan of Bros originally, it was what put me off them for a bit (although I should probably relisten to the original one of these days). That new version doesn't sound particularly great either. Disappointing after Giant Peach.

Any thoughts on the album? I reckon it's underwhelming, might grow on me if I can give it enough listens.
I'm half way in and enjoying it. They're not really holding themselves to one specific, I like it.
I like it quite a bit. Turn To Dust & Fluffy in particular seemed to stick out a lot on opposite ends of the spectrum. Would take out Swallowtail though, really kills the momentum.

I thought Spotify had jumped to another artist when that one came on. It gets pretty frantic towards the end though and more in keeping with their normal sound.

Going to give the whole LP another go this morning!

I haven't bought the album yet, still will though, but had a listen on youtube last night after getting in from the pub.

So glad I have found someone who thinks the same.

The original was punchy and lively, jump around your room like a 5 year old-esque but they've covered it in fx and subdued it. Very disappointed.

The same can be said for My Loves Whore.

Maybe I have been O.D.ing on their studio recording stuff on YT and their EP's too much.

Yeah they shouldn't have blanded out “Bros” : ( I'll stick with the 2013 original! Weird that they decided to change it as the original was getting used on some promo - and they've left off “Blush” and “Moaning Lisa Smile” (both Top 10 hits on my personal chart) which is a little annoying but I suppose it is good to have more new material on the LP.

Still interested in the album though “Giant Peach” is/was a tune.

The countdown (or count up?) on You're A Germ is a real moment. Listened to this a few times now. In some places it's a bit Pixies, in some places it's a bit xx, in some places it's a bit Nirvana. I love it.
I keep thinking the chorus of 'You're a Germ' ends with "you're going to Tunbridge Wells".

Right, bought album and had a bit of time with it.

I am warming to the new versions of Bros and Your Loves Whore, despite the lesser edge. Think maybe it's better they played about with the tunes for the album as it would be a bit of a cheat to just chuck them on without a tweak here and there.

(Still not used to the sound engineer playing with his iphone sound effects app while the band were recording :P)

But the album is definitely a grower, not a shower.

Out of the new tunes...

Loving You're a Germ, Freazy (whatever that means), Lisbon,

Adjusting to Silk - it builds in sounding like something out of the Drive soundtrack. It's an odd one, very poppy and playfully disjointed, but feels deeper and darker than it lets on. Can say the same for Soapy Water and The WonderWhy, both not my personal faves but we'll see if they grow or not.

Swallowtail - Love the fact they got the drummer to do a song. Reminds me a lot of The Subways. It does feel like it should be at the very end of the album though, mainly from the burst at the end which would make you just start the album again.

Turn to Dust feels a bit odd as an opener but enjoyable enough.

Maybe the album build is perplexing me? I don't know?!

I was under the impression if a singer hasn't got a great voice you turn the echo up on the mic to mask it. Now I know WA's singer has a good voice. So why so much echo in the god damn mic studio man? why!?

Anyway. deep breath.

Yeah, Swallowtail is growing on me and it definitely does sound like an album closer.

i love it !!

I am looking forward to the performance in Japan.

Saw their set at Glasto on iplayer the other day and have to say The Wonderwhy sounded much better live, heavier.

Off to Calling Festival tomorrow so can't wait to see them headlining stage 2, more excited seeing them player than Noel. Are my priorities mixed up???

Still I just can't get over some of the missing songs they could have thrown on to the album. Like 'Destroy Me'. (I don't think there is an EP for it.) Cool video too.

Bros sounds so much like The Cranberries - Dreams it just makes me switch to that every time I listen.

Freazy is my other favourite off the album.
