Posted September 17, 200618 yr 17 September 2006 IS MATT A BUSTED FLUSH? Mirror.co.uk by Debbie Manley & Alice Walker POOR old MATT WILLIS - just weeks after coming out of rehab he's now facing the chop from his record label. The ex-Busted star's latest single Hey Kid only charted at a paltry No 28 when released earlier this month - and has since disappeared without trace. Now bosses at Universal have told Matt to do better next time or find himself another deal. A record label insider said: "Matt's single should have at least made the Top 10. To debut at 28 is just not acceptable. "He's walking a bit of a tightrope musically at the moment. It's not looking good. If his songs don't start to do better he'll lose his deal." Any Comments - eg. spot the inaccuracy of this story?
September 17, 200618 yr Looks very fake for me, for a start the single made #11, not #28. He also has a new single and debut album to be released before christmas.
September 17, 200618 yr The two singles havn't been too bad, but he is alienating his busted fan base.
September 17, 200618 yr he hasnt done too bad, but he is leaving the album very late. he should have waited a bit to release this after christmas i think.
September 17, 200618 yr I prefer his solo stuff to his Busted stuff. I bought Hey Kid so I hope he's not dropped cos he's just starting to growing on me!
September 17, 200618 yr The two singles havn't been too bad, but he is alienating his busted fan base. Imo someone going solo and sounding like their old band is the WORST thing someone could do. I was a fan of Busted and I really like his solo stuff too and considering the lack of shows for him to promote I think his chart positions have been ok. I don't think his album will do well :( At least at first...
September 17, 200618 yr He seems to be struggling a bit, but he's got another single in him, which means they'll release the album. It would be a shame if he got dropped just as I'm warming to him. His solo material has been much better than the recent Busted stuff, and he seems a lot less annoying as a person too.
September 17, 200618 yr When Robbie Williams went solo he didn't do very well either when he released his earlier stuff. It was only after Angels that made him big. These artist who come from a band and go solo are expected to do big. Their record label don't treat them like a brand new artist. It's not really fair on them. Anyway I'm not fan of him
September 17, 200618 yr To be honest I hope he is dropped, he irritates me. All of the Busted members have flopped now. -_-
September 17, 200618 yr To be honest I hope he is dropped, he irritates me. All of the Busted members have flopped now. -_- We always knew this, you've been against him from the start :smoke:  Didn't you predict he'd become a "dirty flop"?
September 17, 200618 yr We always knew this, you've been against him from the start :smoke:  Didn't you predict he'd become a "dirty flop"? I know I have. :kink: I did yes. :kink: How incredibly right of me. ^_^ I'm pleased he's flopping, he was my least favourite Busted member, and since I detested all of them with a violent passion that's saying something. -_-
September 18, 200618 yr I actually like him and think he has huge potential esp considering how good the first song was. I hope he pulls a Robbie Williams and release a great song next
September 18, 200618 yr I liked Matt Willlis' first solo single, but I do feel he is trying a little to hard at being the new Pete Doherty...don't know why it is just the stage act and the usual staring eyes that these people try to do..the second single wasnt too bad but not as grabby as the first, I prefer his stuff to the others who went solo.
September 18, 200618 yr I like him but I think overall, the appeal isn't there.People don't care that he is solo. In busted he was annoying, but he was more tamed as he was in a "band". Now its just him, focus on him. Robbie is charming, Matt Willis is just a bit annoying. And people just don't care really. Its sad though, his songs are quite cool!
September 18, 200618 yr To be honest I hope he is dropped, he irritates me. All of the Busted members have flopped now. -_- Fightstar aren't really a flop. It's not the type of music that's ever going to get chart success anyway so for their positions, it's fairly good...
September 18, 200618 yr Fightstar aren't really a flop. It's not the type of music that's ever going to get chart success anyway so for their positions, it's fairly good... exactly, they weren't out there for commerical success as such. Son Of Dork did flop though :( But they were awesomme. Like Busted, only an actual band and the music was a bit harder. Busted were a boyband, Son of Dork were the UK's answer to Blink 182 but still had the "busted appeal"

Anyway I'm not fan of him Son of Dork, were more busted than blink... And i'm afraid to say, most record companies don't give artists a chance to do a robbie - and anyway, can you think of any other male solo artist that that has worked for in the last 10 yearS?
September 18, 200618 yr Yeah I agree. They were nowhere near Blink 182. Def more of a Busted/Mcfly act
