June 25, 201511 yr and this is why Lost Frequencies should have released last week. Would have easily made #1 as it's already sold more than Jason Derulo did last week in just 4 days, plus it wouldn't have lost sales to the fake versions. When will record companies learn? :banghead: The top 2s sales figures should just reach 100k for both if they're lucky and I imagine just counting download sales will show them a lot under the 100k mark, surely the record companies can also realise that holdingn songs back 6 weeks with a pre order stifles sales massively?? I don't want to even think what it'll be like when Apple launches it's streaming service. Just release songs much sooner and see them sell decent numbers for weeks in the build up of decent airplay and stop with this pre order nonsense just to get a decent chart position it drives people AWAY from downloading songs!!!

June 26, 201511 yr Wonderful to see ED Sheeran, Top 15 with photograph :cheer: keep moving higher and higher.
June 26, 201511 yr This is the calm before the storm with the album chart, as its all going to change by the end of the weekend. Going to have a terrible time on Monday ripping sales out for the albums. Wolf Alice had a secret set last night, hopefully they stay top 3 at least.
June 26, 201511 yr Shame Selena & A$AP are out. Hope Rixton, Ellie and Hozier are out but Ellie and Hozier will probably still be in

In the case of Lost Frequencies they were struggling to get any airplay and was looking like it was going to bomb. If they'd released it earlier on it would have entered really low and chances are it would have died it off and Radio 1 would never have got on board. I agree it should've been released last week though.
June 26, 201511 yr I predicted Flo would fall to #5 bit not this quickly! :o it may even end at #7 or #8.
June 26, 201511 yr Can someone please explain how Robin Thicke is getting chart relevance again???

Its hard to say though, major hits like Lean On by Major Lazer were released on the 3rd March and did ok on release (top 40 on itunes for a few days) but reallyt took of when the promo started. Dance songs like LF will always have a good chance of getting airplay from radio 1/capital etc due to the type of music and even plays in holiday resorts at this time of year. Im def of the opinion songs sell much more with earlier releases(not necessarily OAOS). The top 2 this week seem to have been popular for weeks now and their decent if not brillant first week totals have shown they should have had an earlier release imo. they will most certainly decline week on week in sales even with increasing streaming sales. June 26, 201511 yr Can someone please explain how Robin Thicke is getting chart relevance again??? it may have something to do with being featured on a Flo Rida song :P Right now Flo is still at the stage where just about everything he releases is a hit so it's no surprise this song is doing well.

There's always exceptions, but I can totally understand why labels do it. I follow a couple of guys from AATW/3beat on Twitter and I've seen them moaning both about lack of airplay for Lost Frequencies, and how important it is to have a good first week to have any chance of getting commercial radio on board, so they have no choice but to hold singles back. They know they probably lose some sales by holding back, but holding back also creates sales because of the increased likelihood that radio and TV will support you.
