It’s been a big week for Aussie pop favourite Delta Goodrem.

Not only has she been widely publicised throughout the past few days for her shade-throwing in the way of fellow ‘The Voice’ coach Jessie J, but she’s also been confirmed to play the part Grizabella in the Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart seasons of the new adaptation of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s acclaimed musical ‘Cats’.

But now there’s new music waiting in the wings, with the confirmation a short time ago from her label Sony that her new single will be called ‘Wings’.

Though further information about the new single is expected within the next week, it has just appeared on this week’s Sony release schedule and is slated for release on Friday July 24.

It's not clear whether this will be another one-off single or the lead for the fifth album, but either way, I'm very excited for this! :yahoo:

The song was co-written with Anthony Egizii and David Musumeci, aka DNA Songs.

I haven't liked her last 3 singles, so I hope this one makes up for them. I want her to come back with something fun like In This Life or Sitting on Top of the World.

Jessie basically made this guy pick the Madden brothers on The Voice when Delta was desperate for him, she seemed really rude as if she thought Delta was incapable. Delta said she felt like she was thrown under the bus, which is fair enough. Jessie gets wayyyy too competitive and acts quite superior as if she's a "better" coach because she has experience on both the UK and now Aussie versions of the show. She seems to care more about getting herself attention than finding talent etc.

I can barely watch because of Jessie, her personality is just awful. I don't blame Delta for clashing with :drama:

Anyway that can be discussed just here :kink: I look forward to this, Only Human was nice but a bit limp for me and I don't go back to it now.

The Cheryl song of the same name is of course much superior and one of her best :o

Delta should then have pointed out that J's recent album was a big flop. :P

Australian songstress Delta Goodrem returns with her anticipated new single, 'Wings!'

Written by Delta, with Australian co-writers/producers DNA, 'Wings' is a beautifully conceived song that harnesses Delta's natural instrumental ability with her soaring powerful vocals to create a positively charged pop single.

"I wanted to make sure I had a song that incorporated all the things that make me feel like a powerful woman... you always want a song to represent where you are now," explains Delta. "I feel like the most important thing is, 'Wings' just feels fresh. The meaning of the song is about looking for new horizons, everybody is looking for a second chance."

"I wanted 'Wings' to convey that liberated feeling: with a bit of wildness meets a bit of letting go... That's been a big theme, where I've kind of let a lot go. These 'wings' are made to fly!"

Ooh, the signature font is gone.

An uptempo with the theme 'these wings are made to fly' makes me think of Little Mix...

The storming dance track, with live piano and strings, was inspired by Goodrem listening to Calvin Harris and Haim’s Pray to God and London Grammar.

@DeltaGoodrem fans will lose their minds when they hear Wings. Sounds like a sassier, older but wiser cousin of Believe Again gone clubbing
