Posted July 13, 201510 yr Hi everyone! It's been a while since I've posted here, and I can't seem to find anything about it. So, with the introduction of Apple Music in the UK - I'm wondering if we're seeing any increase in streaming points in the charts? If it all, because I'm unsure if this information is collected? - It's an exciting time for music with our Chart moving to Friday to coincide with World Release Day and Apple Music is a world service, so I'm wondering if it's being reported. Apple have an investors call later this month, and I'm sure Tim Cook and the gang might announce a few details about it all.. It wouldn't surprise me if it's fast becoming the most popular streaming service in the UK/World.. so I'm wondering what the affect is on the UK Chart? (Providing we have this data) ((I'm thinking that because we're all in the midst of a free trial, that it might not be reported)). Thanks! Edited July 13, 201510 yr by JamieGilder
July 13, 201510 yr I haven't read much on this new service (all I know is that it convinced Miss Swift to make her music streamable :kink:) But it seems to be getting popularity so anyhow it's going to increase streams per week and therefore decrease sales by people who have avoided Spotify for whatever reason and moved on from buying to streaming on AM. And yes it should be counted towards the chart, even though it's more streaming in the chart which means more Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith :drama: Edited July 13, 201510 yr by Spinning Dev ಠ_ಠ
July 13, 201510 yr Author And yes it should be counted towards the chart, even though it's more streaming in the chart which means more Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith :drama: I've just found this link from the OCC website.. It mentions that streaming is on the up in 2015. But doesn't specifically mention if/or if not its counted.
July 13, 201510 yr It was confirmed in Music Week's sales report on Friday that Apple Music is fully integrated now! It's hard to measure the effect though but it seems quite minimal - Spotify data was missing entirely from the chart last week so the chart was almost identical to the Sales chart. That suggests Apple Music doesn't contribute much so far!

July 13, 201510 yr Missing? As in, wasn't included in the chart - or just didn't specify what the contribution was? Missing - it appears as if Spotify had significant problems last week so were unable to supply the usual data.
July 13, 201510 yr Well if the difference in the AM inclusion is small then it will probably increase as AM gets more popular (if it's any good and people like or even prefer it to Spotify, Taylor Swift certainly did :kink: )
July 13, 201510 yr In the week Apple music was introduced streaming percentage actually fell down by 1.5-2 percent points. Last week without Spotify there were only about 500k "chart sales", which made the share of all non-Spotify services as 20%. So for now Apple music share is not more than 10% at very very most.

July 13, 201510 yr It was: Apple exclusive Pharrell that week had some streaming points Also Taylor Swift had already some streaming percentages, that proves that Apple Music was included in its first week.
July 13, 201510 yr James Masterton mentioned that Apple Music data was just missing for one day I think
July 14, 201510 yr Author It was: Apple exclusive Pharrell that week had some streaming points Very good point! It was an AM Exclusive wasn't it! I'm going to go take a look now at how many he got.. it'll be interesting just how many it was. Especially with Zane Lowe playing it 3-4 times an hour on Beats 1. EDIT: Just took a look at last weeks sales, "#36 Pharrell Williams 4,830 sales". - So, if this was streaming only last week.. that's 483,000 streams on just this track. Interesting considering 'House Every Weekend' had a total of 1,706 streaming points (170,600 streams). Edited July 14, 201510 yr by JamieGilder
July 14, 201510 yr 'Freedom' was made available on iTunes at the same time as Apple Music just so you know!
July 14, 201510 yr EDIT: Nvm, dumb question easily answered with a Google. Edited July 14, 201510 yr by BillyH
