TOTD for Tue 27th Oct - Justin Bieber 'Sorry'

I think this is fantastic, even better than 'What Do You Mean' - who'd have thought a year ago that he would be getting huge UK hits like this!

Edited by M4NGO

Some Ellie Goulding HR news this week I hear, would make sense for a new single soon with the album out in November and an XF performance in the coming weeks!

Justin Beiber is bringing out the tunes with his new era!

Can't believe this will be the third single in a row of his I like lol.

Hottest Record 27/10/15

Spring King "Who Are You?"

Energetic garage rock from a group picking up plenty of hype~

Brilliant Hottest Record on Monday with Grimes btw

That's a relief, I was worried that dreadful current single of hers would get a boost from it.

It seems to be getting harder to call what might get playlisted on any given week, but I think these are in with a shout today:

Justin Bieber - Sorry (gotta be a dead cert I'd have thought)

Hozier - Jackie And Wilson

Ariana Grande - Focus

Oh Wonder - Without You

Demi Lovato - Confident

PVRIS - White Noise

Shawn Mendes - Stitches (I wouldn't be surprised if they start supporting this)

Matrix & Futurebound feat. V Bozeman - Happy Alone

Lethal Bizzle & Stormzy - Dude

Charlie Puth - One Call Away

Everything Everything - No Reptiles

Would seriously love if they could add 'Confident' (seeing as they're supporting that heinous second Selena single) and 'Automatic'.

I know its time has long passed, but I'm seriously bemused that they snubbed Blonde/Karen Harding. I really don't get it, both artists' respective previous singles were huge hits and it's fantastic.

Yeah, that's definitely contender for R1 snub of the year :(

I'm sure R1 would have supported that Blonde song if it wasn't OA/OS :( silly record label and their release strategy

That's no excuse tbh. They've supported plenty of other OA/OS dance songs - MNEK and Kygo to name just two.

Well it's obvious something got messed up badly somewhere along the line with it. I do think it's probably Radio 1 saw its #76 peak and falling away as a reason not to go for it, and things may have been different had it had a different strategy. I guess there's no way of knowing for sure though.
I think because Blonde/Karen was released right at the beginning of the OA/OS period, Radio 1 still hadn't adjusted to what to expect from new releases. If it was released OA/OS now I think there's a bigger chance they would've got on board, the new Sigma track being a good example of still getting support despite minimal iTunes success so far (although I know that wasn't fully OA/OS).
