This party is dangerous. Channel 4 won't be the only media censored if they get their way. This is a plan to turn all public voices and all aspects of law into Conservative mouthpieces.

I just see the words 'look at' - you seem to read them as 'abolish' somehow?

It's just the vague nature of the words "look at". The Lib Dems have made various promises on these subjects over many decades. However, they have always been clear about what they propose. This Tory promise can be interpreted to mean pretty much anything.

That's the problem - it can be interpreted to mean anything, from benign to sinister, depending on the poster's proclivities.

The Tories are evil authoritarians. If they get in, kiss bye bye to democracy.

They've been in gov't many times before without that happening, what makes you think anything will be different?

Because they have filled their ranks with far righters and hard right nutjobs, are threatening to censor any news or channel that goes against them, having their billionaire chums buy up all media - sky already went and the I was snapped up today!!! - they now control the BBTory and have their very own Goebbels, Cummings.the majority jn BBTory are tories and they have maassively right people like Robinson and Neil, but it's unthinkable to have anyone massively left on it. How can you not see the danger?

We can only hope that the takeover of the i is blocked. The thought of it being part of the Daily Mail stable is too awful to contemplate.

It would be very easy for future Conservative governments to now mess with and dismantle vital parts of our country's democratic apparatus. They have reason, they have motive, the checks and balances recently humiliated them, and it's entirely within their nature to want to trim them down so the government 'can have an easier time passing legislation'. The chances that such a vague line, clearly purposefully so, is benign is miniscule.

I do not trust them to not be authoritarian and autocratic if given the opportunity.

+1 to the i takeover being horrendous.

DELETED, MULTIPLE POSTS.

I know they want to get rid of the Supreme Court. They put Boris's back up by finding against him so he's going to get rid of it if he wins.

How many previous party leaders have banned a national newspaper from their campaign bus?

How many previous PMs have threatened to close down a television channel?

How many previous PMs have unlawfully prorogued parliament?

Boris Johnson is a very dangerous man. We just have to hope people realise that before they suffer the consequences.

And how many other previous PMs have weaseled out of interviews, sent their dads, think they shouldn't have any oversight, refuse to see the commons committee, and believe they should be as unaccountable as the queen? Hitler also believed he was thr head of state - and he quickly became it. This is how dictatorships happen. Do not roll your eyes. This is not normal.

It’s called taking small steps to push the boundaries and acceptance of what is considered ‘normal’

The same with privitasing the NHS. Of course they won’t do it in one fell swoop, they’re doing it CURRENTLY ans doing it slowly and slowly so it can be seen as normal

Well no, he doesn’t want to get rid of the Court. You’re always going to have a highest court in the land...

Ge wants to remove the power for checks and balances aka the rule of law that ensures each part of the law making powers (which includes the court) is accountabke. The fact that doesn’t concern you is just mindblowing.

Anyone know when Boris is on Marr? Has to be tomorrow or next Sunday. Wonder if he'll be live or ask for a pre-record.
We still don't know. Was on Marr yesterday and Marr asked him when he'd appear with Neil and Borissaid he'd be happy to talk to "Anyone at the BBC called Andrew"
So the BBC let him on without the guarantee he would do the Neill interview obviously!
