I see Bozo is trying to save his own sorry skin by comparing Brexit (the only reason he is Prime Minister) with Putin's invasion of Ukraine. He's sort of right. Both were orchestrated under Putin's propaganda, both were intended to cause chaos from the far right amongst the Western alliance and attack democracy, and Johnson used both of them to promote his lying, useless arse.

Just a suggestion: The only violence in Brexit was the murder of a Labour MP - not by the hated EU, by a right-wing nutjob - Ukraine wants to join the EU, not leave it, because they know how shitty life standing on your own is if no-one's got your back, and surely the nearest analogy to a washed-up former imperial power with nuclear weapons hanging onto land it feels it owns would be Northern Island, on the grounds that the people living there on balance support England rather than Ireland (See Ukraine and the Eastern territories).

Not that Johnson has any inkling of terrible analogies as long as he thinks it'll bring back the faithful to not vote for booting him out when the Police fine him for breaking his own law.

So are we all worse or better off from the budget?

Feel sorry for those not in work as there's no help for them. Really do feel this is the end of them no matter how much Rishi can try and attempt to fool everyone he's given them tax cuts, I think most people will feel the pinch too much.

Haven't followed it in detail but lots of people unsurprisingly saying that Sunak is helping the most well off by not doing anything about wealth, raising NI on working people but lowering income tax which can be claimed on things like rent, thus enriching his landowners.

But they won't have to pay VAT on solar panels. As we all know, people on benefits buy solar panels two or three times per month, so they will be quids in.

Plus, irrespective of whether it's a good win or not, the VAT exemption is NOT as FALSELY claimed by our LYING Chancellor (who said we had a very cold winter a few months ago when it wasn't) a Brexit bonus as that happened in the EU last year.

Sunak is getting a roasting on Twitter for talking about how his family all eat different breads while other families struggle to buy a single basic loaf.

This Tory Pafty would LOVE to be an out and out dictatorship, hence why they follow the 1984 playbook on lying. Believe only what rhe party wants you to believe, regardless of the truth, such as the fact that we all know that the winer was incredibly mild and maudlin.

"Am overwhelmed with a heady sense of nostalgia as we now face the prospect of petrol prices coming down to where they were last Thursday."

Priceless....!

...and if you want a comprehensive review of the entirety of Tory lies and corruption over the last week this makers a fab read - just take a deep breath before diving in.

No wonder Bozo stood shambling on his own at a leaders conference, having been disinvited to one. It's like being the thicko supply worker that the rest of the staff know blagged his way into something he's not capable of in any way os his dad knows somebody, so the only solution is to do something more useful, like sweep roads for a living, or get promoted to the very top so nobody has to work with the moron except the other morons also promoted to the top thanks to daddy's wads of cash.

His weekly tweets are well worth reading.

So the media has completely ripped apart Sunak's budget including the right wing. That should be good but part of me is thinking that the powers that be want Johnson to stay on or Truss to replace him as Sunak was getting a bit too big for his boots. Cynical? Maybe? I just don't trust them one little bit. The Telegraph, Mail, Sun, Express - all of them are just plain f***ing evil and they don't give a monkeys about the poorest in society.
The Tories were ripped to shreds on Question Time tonight. A lot of very angry voters about the spring statement and lack of help. I honestly hope they get slaughtered at the next election as they are just a bunch of incompetent and completely out of touch MPs 🙂

I don't think it's cynical, everyone is feeling the pinch (or will be feeling the pinch), even those on higher incomes. When you're used to a £500 yearly energy bill and now it's £1200 - that's a massive jump. So even if you have social beliefs, everyone is going to be feeling the pinch.

even the right-wing press have to pander to the people that buy their papers, and Sun readers aren't on the whole millionaires, so it's complete self-interest at play here. Slag off the budget or lose readers for not stating the bleeding obvious. It can't be sugar-coated when everybody knows that their standard of living is dropping. The Telegraph, Express and Mail could probably attempt a try to blame immigrants or the EU but as we don't have immigrants coming in (except rich Oligarchs) and the EU are also having price rises that wouldnt be convincing. So they will try for a new leader before the next election and start praising the wonderful 1% VAT cut in the weeks before the election as a tremendous development after the years-of-pain has worked and the economy is in safe hands.

Meanwhile those who voted Tory for the first-time ever will find that they are actually worse off and the promises never materialised, so they will be looking to give Tories a good-vote-kicking to whoever looks placed to get rid of them. As they basically voted for Johnson and Brexit, they will have no need to vote Tory again. Probably...

Johnson blaming P&O hire and fire on the EU. It's a UK policy, not an EU policy. Lying to Parliament again about the nasty Tory legislation they are responsible for. He really can't change a lifetime habit of being lazy, stupid and deceitful, it just comes so naturally to him, like breathing.

But it’s the poorest who will be hit worst as usual, if your on 90 grand a year the energy increase is a pain but won’t stop your life in its tracks, if your on UC your basically on the poverty line!

I know several wealthy people who aren’t at all bothered with the rises at all or it is a minor inconvenience. Certainly not in it together.
Oh, I'm sure many many rich people are struggling, probably down to their last 400 cases of caviar, having to use the deluxe 4x4 instead of the Jag to Fortnum & Masons, and having to give the servants a rise of 1 or 2% to stop them buggering off to Tesco checkouts :teresa:
