September 21, 200618 yr Can't see it beating The Arctics first week sales but think it'll sell more than them this year.
September 21, 200618 yr I'm gay and they're my least favourite act on the charts. Have been since their debut single. A lot of straight people like them and are buying the album - it's not just gay men, gay women or hags. That article annoyed me. Edited September 21, 200618 yr by Tim
September 21, 200618 yr Can't see it beating The Arctics first week sales but think it'll sell more than them this year. I agree on both counts
September 21, 200618 yr It's awesome, I guess people are not just buying 1 copy of it, probably also the Limited Edition X2, one to keep wrapped and one to open.
September 21, 200618 yr i like the siser sisters but i would never buy their album unless i had loads of money and had already got the other ablums in my trolley
September 21, 200618 yr Ta-Dah is a great Pop album & an improvement on their debut IMHO. In many ways it is as retro as the Feeling, and like the Feeling's debut album is littered with strong pop songs full of classic pop hooks. Musically, there are echoes of Elton John, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Bee Gees, Roxy Music, Duran Duran, Wham! as well as New York's Studio54 era Disco. I predict this album will sell over a million copies in the UK, long before the New Year.
September 21, 200618 yr Well, it's not very pleasant. Lyrically it's about as creative as a Britney Spears song, and the entire style is beyond flamboyant and nauseating. And it's certainly not original at all, with the only reason it doing well being that it's the only song of its kind out. I'm sure if I released a bushman tribal anthem that would also be a hit, doesn't mean it's good. It's music for middle aged women, who think it's both "hip" and "cool" to boogie to retro-styled beats, and for all those GAP-wearing college preps who find it majestic (you know, the type that wear scarfs around their necks 24/7). The band look like something out of Cirque du Soleil (more like Cirque de la Merde) and the lead singer looks possessed with sinful thoughts. And before you jump the "homophobic" bandwagon, that's not the case at all, and I actually imagine many gays and lesbians find the Scissor Sisters are unrepresentative of their kind. I'll end my rant by thanking God that they're not British, so that the Brits 2007 don't get royally f**ked up the arse. Come on, you´re just pissed off that in 7 days they will have sold more then Oral Fixation sold in months....
September 21, 200618 yr I find it incredible how open minded people in UK seem to be (I don´t live there). In many other countries, a band like this would never be sucessful because homophobia. Maybe that explains why they aren´t sucessful in their own country (USA), and even tough their last album was huge in UK, it didn´t have such sucess in any other country of the world. But I think it´s sutpid that some morons always say "this band only sells records to gay people", "these artist only sells to 30-something women", THAT`S STUPID, because they usually say that about huge selling artists, so it must be exactly the contrary: to sell millions of records you need a wider public, acts who only sell to 1 small public would sell in less quantities.
September 21, 200618 yr To be fair, you'd have been hard pressed to find a straight guy at their gig last Saturday!
September 21, 200618 yr Come on, you´re just pissed off that in 7 days they will have sold more then Oral Fixation sold in months.... I'm only called "Oral Fixation" because on another board I had the same screen name, and some of the people on that board are on this one. It's just to keep it simple, and I chose the name "Oral Fixation" before the albums came out. And I think Oral Fixation Volumes 1 and 2 are average at best. But just to throw a spanner in the works, Shakira's had three Top 3 UK hits and four Top 10 UK hits, and was globally the biggest selling artist of 2001/2002, and is biggest selling artist of 2005/2006 (so far, in the UK and around the world). I'm not pissed off at anything. In actual fact, I don't think HDL deserves all the attention it's had, I thought it was "Meh" at first. Edited September 21, 200618 yr by Oral Fixation
September 21, 200618 yr Im not gay or camp but I still brought the album, am I not aloud to do that or something? Anyway, ignore that b**ch, IT'S A BRILLIANT ALBUM!

True. But boy bands sell million of records and are marketed towards a smaller group of the public: young girls Some emo and nu-metal acts have done very well but are most popular with teenagers. Corinne Bailey Rae and Jack Johnson have sold loads of albums this year but are geared towards older people. The Scissor Sisters have a huge gay fanbase. So does Kylie Minogue. It's not homophobic to say some acts are more popular with gay people than others. The problem with the article is that implies you have to be gay to like the Scissor Sisters and that's not true. September 21, 200618 yr Even Shakira has a gay fanbase, there are tonnes of gays on some of the forums I go to, so it doesn't mean jack $h!t. SS's audience is gays, preppy college kids and older women. I've yet to find anyone from the urbs dancing the night away to psychedelic electro-pop.
September 21, 200618 yr I've got loads of straight friends who like the scissor sisters, i hate this whole stereotyping thing, why must a type of music be classed as "gay", how can your sexuality have anything to do with your taste in music, you either like something in your personal opinion or you don't, f*** all to do with being gay/straight, black/white, male/female

September 21, 200618 yr It's not fair to judge music like 50 Cent as "for blacks" music either, doesn't mean it's not got some truth in it.
September 21, 200618 yr  Sorry Oral Fixation but Shakira's albums (Fixations) are not average... they're great albums but anyway... I don't like SS and I wouldn't buy any of their albums but I think "I don't feel like Dancing" is a catchy song... I really like it... (I hate the video though :puke2: ) And I'm pretty sure you don't have to be gay to enjoy a gay song... I'm not gay but I like Unwritten and Something About You... and they're both really girly songs IMO... Edited September 21, 200618 yr by $kToFi
