July 19, 201510 yr Author And that's it! Thanks again to all who voted, not just in this one, but in all the 80s rates. It's been a pleasure. Next up, the 70s...
July 19, 201510 yr Thanks to you too for running all of this... a surprisingly but definitely not unwelcome winner. A-ha are so underrated, they have quite a few decent tracks and albums in their back catalogue.
July 19, 201510 yr thanks AH, the top 2 1 point apart, coulda gone anyways with one more voter all round really! Well done on the compiling, appreciated! a-ha are back with a lush ballad this very week, see my charts, and they are very under-rated thanks to Take On Me, really, being poppy and all, but they have some magnificent substantial epics in their repertoire and a singer that can do those notes...
July 20, 201510 yr Wow, surprised to see A-Ha taking the top spot, actually surprised that most hits held their positions relatively closely - just shows that the chart positions were probably always a good gauge of popularity. Shame that Bigmouth Strikes Again is the lowest Smiths track and that De La Soul had a big drop. But ah, well - great rundown and thanks AH Gold for running this feature. Looking forward to starting the 70s now (although fully ready for Wuthering Heights to be practically unstoppable even against Bohemian Rhapsody and an Abba overload in general!)
July 21, 201510 yr Great work running this. A decent winner but not my favourite a-ha track. That said, it should have been a number 1 back in the day so I'm more than happy with that result. I WILL be doing the 70s one as soon as I canlock the kids in a cupboard and find the time to get on here Looking back at the voting, I was the final voter and gave Take On Me 25 pts and Like A Prayer 24. On any other day I could easily have switched those two. Small margins eh? Edited July 21, 201510 yr by Severin
