1970s Top 40 Rate

Number 6s

Here we go again. We've done the 80s where A-Ha's Take On Me was declared the Ultimate 80s Top 40 hit. Now we move on to the 70s - a decade which, arguably, saw the most eclectic range of musical styles gracing the charts. The 70s had it all - glam, disco, punk, new wave, country, funk, rock, pop, soul, electric, novelty, MOR, eurotrash and future Yewtree disgraced stars.

Hopefully, you should know the drill by now, but if not - Below is a chronological list of all the singles which peaked at No.6 in the UK during the 1970s. Rate your faves, and the winner will go through to the final Ultimate Top 40 (where it will join the best No.1, No.2 etc).

I actually want to rate them all. This is impossible for me :(

First sweep and I was REALLY tough got me down to 50. Next sweep 37 vital tracks. Doh! So - I voted for Imagine in the 80's, so that's out. There's a lot of ELO hits that peaked at 6, so chuck a couple out. 2 Manfred's so out goes one of em. No room for fab cheese so out goes Starship Troopers :(

+30 Abba - S.O.S

+29 Hot Chocolate - Love Is Life

+2 Wizzard - Rock N' Roll Winter (Looney's Tune)

+1 Billy Swan - I Can Help

Pretty difficult, Starship Trooper also just missed the list for me but there is PLENTY room for cheese with me including one of David Bowie's finest moments.

Ah I didn't have the room to vote for em but glad to see disco duck and gimme dat ding with points. Honest! Big chart hits with me:)
At one point Gimme Dat Ding looked like it might be getting 30 from me but the second half of the 70s was too strong!
