January 20, 20169 yr Author #03 - Shirley Bassey - Diamonds Are Forever - 128 Points - Average 9.14 (Same 10's, Less 9's) QFSAWiTJsjc So DSB loses one of her 2 shots at the top with Diamonds Are Forever losing out on second place on a tie, but to what? This is pretty much undeniable, it was the only song in the top 3 not to get any 7's, however it loses out as fewer people gave it top marks too. Slightly less iconic that Goldfinger to be sure, Diamonds Are Forever is a stronger, more accomplished vocal performance and a more complex song. It has multiple hooks and a killer chorus and remains among the most instantly recognisable of the Bond themes.
January 20, 20169 yr Author So, it's between Goldfinger and McCuntney for #1? Which one will it be? All shall be revealed this evening.
January 21, 20169 yr Author #02 - Shirley Bassey - Goldfinger - 128 Points - Average 9.14 (Same 10's, More 9's) Fy_PJODH3p0 Missing out on the top spot by ONE SINGLE f***ING POINT is the clear moral winner, Goldfinger. It set the standard for what makes a Bond theme and remains iconic over 50 years on. In many ways the song and film set the tone for the entire series going forward, ramping up what worked best about the previous entries to 11. DSB is, of course, known as the first lady of Bond thanks, in no small part, to this song. It's easy to see why, her vocal is commanding and instantly recognisable and she manages to sell the hell out of every syllable. Only Nelly S gave this less than an 8, yet Buzzjack saw fit not to crown this our winner.... #01 - Paul McCuntney & Wings - Live & Let Die - 129 Points - Average 9.21 A7wSQ0rvdig Yeah
