dam it why cant they come to australia
Well I'm going! :cheer: And I have indeed seen them before, twas amazing. <3

I saw them at Hammersmith Apollo in November 2003, I was very much looking forward to it. Firstly, I had to put up with a turgid bunch of Canadians called FingerEleven - AWFUL!!! Like Pearl Jam without the decent tunes.... Me and my mates wondered if Evanescence just went out and found the worst band possible to support them on purpose.....

Then Evanescence (finally) came on after making us wait a hell of a long time. Cant say it was earth-shattering to be honest. There was nothing technically wrong with what they did, but I was rather insulted at being charged £25 for a set that lasted barely an hour, and the fact that they played "Fallen" all the way through pretty much in track order kinda left the whole sponteneity thing that I like about concerts pretty much null and void, just to compound this, they only played ONE non-"Fallen" era track. And a pretty good cover of Smashing Pumpkins' "Zero" which I actually thought was the best thing they did all night, they certainly looked at their most animated and 'into it' while playing it.

I also objected to the amount of DAT playback used, now, obviously, it is impractical for a band to get a full orchestra on stage (although you probably could fit one on the Apollo's pretty massive stage...), but when it gets to the extent of using DAT for backing vocals, keyboards and second guitar parts, you just have to say "hang on...I thought this was a LIVE performance.....". I'd rather a band go on stage with several session musicians and a backing vocalist, rather than just pad out a set with backing tapes.... But hey, that's me....

All in all I got the impression that this was just another example of a big American band coming over and not playing to their full potential over in the UK, the gig certainly had a 'will this do?' mentality. I've seen similar sub-standard sets by US bands such as Korn, Deftones, Puddle of Mudd, Papa Roach and quite a few others, so please dont think I'm singling out Evanescence. I genuinely feel that some US bands dont play to their full strength when they come over the pond, because when I see these bands do live shows in the US on DVD, it's like they're a different sodding band.....

For once I agree with you

I've been watching live performances and stuff and maybe I just picked the wrong performances but they sound really rusty and Amy's voice wasn't exactly that strong or breath taking :(

But that said I watched the CMWYS acoustic versiion live for AOL and that was amazing

She hasnt got a strong range really, but she is a perfectly competent rock singer. I've seen live performances by Nightwish and Within Temptation and believe me, Tarja (who has a perfect 4-Octave voice) and Sharon are incredible in a live setting, especially outdoor venues and festivals, voices that could fill the grand canyon....

Yay! im going to see them in Manchester :D

i cant wait!

i missed the falled tour, was GUTTED.

so glad ive got tickets for this one though :D

I seen them in the Fallen concert, it was AMAZING, everything about it, it was my first concert

it was my first concert

Ah, well, you've nothing to compare it to then yet....  I felt that way too about my first concert, but then, that was Jesus and Mary Chain.......And I can honestly say that in almost 20-years of gig-going since then that I dont think I've seen anything as extreme and fukked up as that gig....

...Not even Slayer......

I've been to a few gigs and the performances I've seen leave much up to be desired

It's not long until the 21st now...I might just wet myself with excitement sometime soon. I shall be at the venue from 12pm incase I catch a glimse of Amy...
I have not been to a major concert since 1992. Hope all that are able to go have a great time. :cheer:

Why thankyou John. I feel I may be overwhelmed by the presence of Miss Lee and faint before the concert even starts though... I just cannot explain how inspirational and awesome I find her. I've tried but the words just don't come out!

I'll probably also freeze waiting for 8 hours to get front row.

You are welcome. :D

Wrap up warm Natalie. How's the counting down going?

Oh jeez it's a week today and really the hyperness is beginning. Hopefully it won't be such a cold day as unfortunately the tutu I have chosen to wear won't keep me very warm...

I just hope everything goes the way I wish for it to!

The tutu? Fashion trends for going to major concerts has changed rather radically since 1992 is all I can say. Optional forum League table updated for you and Jake. ;)

Edited by Flatcap

Yes, I love tutus. They are my favourite clothing, I normally buy them from Afflecks Palace alternative store in Manchester. The one I got for Evanescence is black/red and rather lovely indeed!

Thanks for updating the tables again, I'll have to make a forum chart run out of them. :D

No I can't dance to save my life! Rahahaha only 6 days to wait now though. *practically goes insane*

I took a look at the weather thing thankyou (changed the location to Manchester though ) and hopefully it won't rain!

Edited by NatalieMT

Misread the location for the 21st. *continues to believe signature for age despite the lapse*
