The reason I didn't send it was because it sampled "ABC" and thought that alone would have put it on the radar.

I thought 'ABC' would give it a few points but not enough for it to be considered veto-worthy. In any case 'Easy Love' was definitely not veto worthy at the time

As much as I'd love to shade Lee here, I do think Easy Love was fine to be let through. Uninspired definitely but not cheap at the time.

 

(this does, however, make him a hypocrite when he called me cheap for sending Conrad ^_^)

If a song is a "similar sounding cover version" it gets 12 points, but 'Easy Love' doesn't sound anything like the original version melodically so didn't get those points. And it only had minimal blogs coverage at the time, Lee was very lucky with his timing considering what happened in the couple of weeks afterwards but he wasn't to know at the time it was going to be anything more than a random dance track.
