October 23, 20159 yr Bitterly disappointing result. Number 18 at the start of week and finishing in at number 56 is awful
October 23, 20159 yr Streaming has killed them. If the chart was based on sales alone they would have been #30 this week. They didn't make the top #100 in the streaming chart
October 24, 20159 yr I had a feeling streaming would heavily damage them. Hey Boy is number 66 on itunes now. A 2nd week top 100 would be nice but its looking very unlikely.
October 26, 20159 yr I think it has likely departed the top 100 already largely in part to the effects of streaming.
October 26, 20159 yr Well in Scotland it was top 40 at #31 just not for the whole of the UK combined. They may not release the video I seem to remember though can't recall which song them doing a video and ultimately not releasing it during their second era. I could be thinking of another group though. Edited October 26, 20159 yr by nirvanamusic
October 26, 20159 yr It doesn't help that the song is not available on you tube with the exception of a live performance video of poor quality.
October 26, 20159 yr The midweeks are out and no major surprise to learn Hey Boy is not top 100
October 26, 20159 yr I'd be amazed if they didn't release the video, especially after the pick up from the media on its 70s style. Maybe they'll just wait until the week of the re release
October 27, 20159 yr In the current climate of access to music, it is simply crazy now to have a video available. The thinking behind the campaign opens up many questions.
October 27, 20159 yr Everything should be lined up to maximise first week sales. Frustrating that it never seems to happen bar the first single release.
October 28, 20159 yr True, but i cant figure out why they are so lacksy daisy about the singles, singles are what sells the albums. The big singles they have had such as Patience, Shine, Rule the World, Greatest Day all helped hugely to sell the albums. I know each album has managed a big hit, but the follow ups have been handled worse and worse on each release since the Circus.
October 28, 20159 yr I cant remember how Id Wait for Life was handled. Apart from the fact it was a totally wrong choice of single did it under perform due to lack of promotion and bad handling of the release? or was just purely based on bad selection of single combined with it came from an album that had sold in large quantities.
October 28, 20159 yr I must be the only one who adored I'd Wait for Life. That's one single I regret not making the top 10.
October 28, 20159 yr I liked the single as well. I think it sold badly for all the reasons mentioned above. Whilst I liked it there were stronger songs off the album. As for Hey Boy, not releasing the video is crazy. Given it's poor showing in the charts I wonder if they'll actually bother to promo the video now?
October 28, 20159 yr Id Wait For Life belonged as an album track only. Considering the quality of material that was on the album i thought the decision to release this as third single was mind blowingly stupid. It is a good song but not single material. As an album track it is a 7 out of 10 as a single it is a 3 out of 10.
October 28, 20159 yr However, I'd wait for life as the third single from BW comfortably achieved another top 20 hit. I think the video to IWFL is beautiful. So meaningful and understated.
October 29, 20159 yr I wouldnt say Id Wait For Life was comfortably top 20, number 17, and if i remember correctly it was dropping all week in the mid weeks and i was hoping it would hang on to a top 20 position. It flew out of the charts rapidly. It should have never been a single, probably one of the weakest songs on the album, Reach out was screaming for release and i will feel it would have done so much better as a single and may have added more sales to the album.
October 29, 20159 yr Yeah, sorry, by comfortably I meant not #20 or #19 by 10 sales or something. If I recall, they decided against promoting it to take a break before/after the tour dates. Reach Out was released in Europe as the fourth single, but in the UK and in Ire they went for the newly written Rule The World.
