RTE have revealed that their initial plan to reveal their plans for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest have been delayed, they are examining their performance over recent years and analysing the way they have selected songs. This news provides evidence that they are likely to change the format they have used recently to select their entries.

The Irish broadcaster has said that the “review of our performance over the last number of years” has caused the postponement of the announcement, and their is still a possibility of the decision being made in November / December, and no later than January.

ESC United

Well this looks promising as it seems like they are going to finally get rid of the Late Late Show national final. I could see them doing an internal selection although I have no idea of who! Una finally to make that Eurovision return but as lead singer?

Shane and Nadine would be so good! Not that RTE will manage anything that good I'm guessing. Maybe the effort TG4 is putting into Junior Eurovision has given RTE a wake up call anyway!
Supergroup of Nadine, Samantha Mumba and Edele from B*Witch'd plz.

Is this likely to be an internal selection?

Can The Corrs do it please? *.*

It was reported on the Irish Independent‎ before being taken down that Nicky Byrne may be stepping up from only being the spokesperson...

Definitely sounds possible, I could see him with a song along the lines of Brinck's 'Believe Again' (that springs to mind just because I listened to it earlier :kink:) and his experience may come in handy as it was the relative inexperience of Kasey and to a lesser extent Molly that harmed Ireland's chances in recent years - especially Kasey as I think Heartbeat would've qualified with a more capable and less terrified vocalist.

Hmm...interesting...the weakest singer in Westlife

I guess Duncan James made the spokesperson to performer move for the UK...

I still wish they'd sent Shane and Nadine with I Could Be, I think it is just eligible and could do well in a Calm After The Storm type way (although nowhere near as high as that of course).

The Irish entry

That's alright! Very Brinck as mentioned above, but pretty contemporary. It doesn't sound like a SMASH but I'm sure Ireland will be in the final, maybe mid-table.

My first thought was how clichéd it is and you can imagine RTE asking Nicky to "write a song perfect for Eurovision", despite the fact Eurovision has moved on a bit. It's like when you find out someone is writing something catered for Eurovision and you think "no! just write a normal song and it'll be better that way".

Anyway once I got over the lyrics, it's a very good pop song which is instant and catchy and has a reliable performer in Nicky you'd hope. Obviously very difficult to predict at this stage but I imagine it could be something that qualifies in about 8th or 9th, which is a big achievement in what will be semi-finals of 18 or 19. I really like it and the best thing is that it means we can open a rankings thread!!!!!!!!

Quite a big name for Ireland then!

It's pleasant enough, which is quite standard for the Irish entry lately. It probably would've qualified in Vienna but we'll have to see how the general standard is in about 6 weeks time to see if it will in Stockholm, it's definitely borderline.

It's verrrry DMGP 2009 and it's a bit all over the place. Or maybe it's just me? It's nice and I don't mind it, but I don't have high hopes for it.

Would not be surprised at all if that songs Danish written. Seems to have that particular mix of MOR but still catchy feel to it.

It's nice and all but unless the standard of this year is really terrible, not a standout.
