May 13, 20169 yr Salute got fewer plays than Word Up?!!! I know Word Up was a charity single but seriously!!! Tbh I feel like the Salute era as a whole was a massive missed opportunity Move: OK this went very right Little Me: not universally popular (although I love it) and a shocking decision on the release date Salute (single): could've been a massive global single Salute (album): seriously, who came up with the idea of releasing the album in the same week as the lead single? Salute was actually played before every match at the FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada last year. That's 51 times the song was played to a stadium of football fans. That gives you an idea of how much potential the song had
May 13, 20169 yr Author Salute got fewer plays than Word Up?!!! I know Word Up was a charity single but seriously!!! Tbh I feel like the Salute era as a whole was a massive missed opportunity Radio 1 were weird with Salute, the removed it the week of its impact week, which is a lot earlier than usual, most songs are removed the week after, at least. Had they kept it a week later, it would have coincided with the massive leap to #6 in the chart, which would probably have lead to them keeping on the playlist a couple more weeks (possibly even moving it to A), which would have given the single loads more longevity. Despite luke-warm support from R1, Salute remains one of their biggest and most remembered hits though. I wouldn't be surprised if it went Gold in the next year or two.
May 13, 20169 yr Little Me went Silver nearly 2 and a half years after it was released so you never know. It would be good to know more up to date sales figures for non Get Weird era singles. I'm only guessing but I wouldn't be at all surprised if Wings isn't that far away from going Platinum
May 13, 20169 yr I doubt 'Wings' is anywhere near Platinum. I believe it was only on 532k in late March, so still a long way to go yet. I'm sure it'll get there eventually though :D

October 25, 20168 yr Author Updated this. Since LM3 ended, Black Magic and Hair have been Radio 1 staples with constant plays.
