Posted September 24, 200618 yr ... why, when Condoleezza Rice wants action and the West wants an end to the violence, is the UN silent? Western leaders vowed this weekend to stop the violence in the Darfur region of Sudan as they left New York after the annual United Nations opening conclave. But once again they were unable to summon any agreement on how exactly they mean to do it. Who should be responsible to stop this. What is the UN for if not this.
September 25, 200618 yr The US all of a sudden saying that something has to be done about it is really fukkin' laughable to be honest, the US hasn't given a sh!t about Sudan since this whole thing kicked off, being more concerned with grabbing as much Iraqi oil as it can get its greedy paws on instead of actually doing something positive to divert what has gone beyond a humanitarian crisis... It's probably too late to actually for the UN do anything that's gonna stop this thing quickly, the time for that would've been about two or three years ago when something could have been done, but of course the political will of the West was entirely lacking; the situation now is just so out of control....
