Watching the finale live right now but this feels so dragged out and predictable... I may skip next season a miss to give it all a rest. I'm all dragged out!

 

Decided to spoiler myself without watching the finale. It's not like they will be showing their genuine reactions or anything.

 

Disappointed with Bob winning. Kim Chi was new and exciting. Bob is another Bianca. Boring.

 

Cynthia winning Miss Congeniality though... She was great but really...

 

Good season overall but very predictable and boring winner.

 

It was expected but I'm still disappointed. I feel like Kim Chi would have been a winner like no other whereas I feel like we've seen it all before with Bob. Not a terrible winner by any means though, he's no Tyra.

My favourite hasn't won since Jinkx Monsoon, who I saw last night and she was FABULOUS.

Violet slayed everyone though when she came out :drama:

 

Also Stacey filming during Naomi's performance killed me!!! :rofl:

 

 

Thrilled Cynthia won MC!!! Definitely the most deserving :wub:

 

As for the winner. It feels correct for Bob to win. She excelled at the most challenges, and imo was the strongest competitor throughout the whole season. SO happy she's won!! My fav actually wins!! Only Bianca of my favs from other seasons won, so very happy!

see i've seen so much about bob being the 'correct' winner, but like is correct really a word you associate with a superstar?? in terms of having someone who really represents something special and in need of representation, i think they defo picked the wrong person.

 

i also feel like rupaul really was trying to push kim chi into coming out to her mother before the finale which is totally not within her rights to do, and the fact kim didn't had a big effect on her decision.

100% agree with this. Bob wasn't really bad at anything, which is why she won. But she didn't really hugely excel in anything in a way no other queen has. Kim Chi brought something entirely new and innovative to drag race, I genuinely can't say I've seen another queen bring it on the runway the way she did. And she had so much charm and humility outside of that.

Either way there's no doubt Kim will be the star of this season now it's over, much like Adore in S6 or Alaska in S5, because she does have that unique it thing, and I don't anyone can really say she isn't a star, and not a fan of her, she's phenominal. However I still feel, taking into account it was a competition, in that element Bob excelled the most, and therefore deserved to win

On the topic of Kim Chi, how funny was it when she shaded the pit crew?

The finale was kind of underwhelming. They tried to do too much and a lot of it didn't work. I kinda wish Kim could have won but at least we will potentially see her in All Stars 3, as oddly All Stars 2 was filmed after season 7...

Thorgy looked offensively bad, I would have asked her to leave, she had so many good looks over the seasons too.

Derrick looked the best I've ever seen her, but clearly had not done her own makeup.

Also I wasn't loving Naomi's hair when she first came out, you could see her wig trying to escape.

Omg! I had forgotten about that, that was hilarious!!

 

I was personally taken with Acid's look the most of the season 8 girls at the reunion. Dax also looked great considering she was joint last

Exactly. Jinkx, Alaska, Bianca, Katya all have their unique 'style' of comedy which I can pinpoint whereas Bob's comedy is all over the place. I don't really remember her making me laugh much outside of the performances and challenges. Granted, the presidential campaign and RuCo's empire challenges she did excel at, there's no doubt about it. I'm ALL for a comedy queen winning every season but there was something missing with bob and Kim Chi's humor was much more on fleek.

Here be my winners' rank:

 

1) Jinkx Monsoon - Loved her humour, Snatch Game and that Day of the Dead runway. I also really fell for Jinkx's out of drag personality.

2) Sharon Needles - I need to re-watch this season but I certainly wanted her to win when i first watched, even if I have gone off her style of humour since the show.

3) Bianca Del Rio - I wanted to Adore to win by the end of the season, but there is no denying Bianca's incredible characerisation and unique sense of humour. I do, however, find some of the humour in her stand up a bit cold and unfunny.

4) Chad Michaels - Possibly could be higher, really polished well-rounder.

5) Raja - I really liked Raja's overall asthetic and runways, the cocky personality was just a bit offputting during the show

6) Violet Chachki - A really good, polished, allrounder (simialr to how I would have felt if Naomi won), nothing she did in her season really stood out hugely for me, even though I did like her a lot by the end of the season. It was the S8 finale runway and the song 'Betty' that happened post-show which made me love her,

7) Bob the Drag Queen - A great Drag Queen but a bit underwhelming when you think of some of the moments the queens above her have provided.

8) BeBe - I generally really like BeBe and wanted her to win when I first watched season 1, but the quality of the queens have has been raised so much since season 1, it's difficult to compare her.

9) Tyra - Awful winner. I didn't particularly like Raven either, but she gave me a lot more than Tyra. Ru was clearly in love with her from the moment she glued that dress to herself though. Jujube >>

Very happy with Bob winning. I would've preferred Naomi, but it was never going to happen.

Bob gave the best performance on the night, that choreo and the lipsync were on POINT, even Naomi couldn't touch that.

I was underwhelmed with Kim Chi's performance and looks on the night.. There's only so much armography that you can see before it becomes stale.

 

I'm sure Kim Chi will do very well for herself, though. It was definitely the tightest top 3, nobody has a bad word to say about any of them.
