Commentary

Pep & Rash brought a brilliant tune to the table with 'Rumors', which blew my mind with that drop. It's an undeniable banger of a tune and deservedly became the duo's breakout tune. It also became the first top 10 hit I got in BJSC so yay for that. It really was a twist on future house and with a hook so catchy and a drop so good it was something I could instantly get behind. Absolutely amazing of course but there was basically no competition for the #1, it was always going to be Avicii.

Commentary

Well this is basically perfection in song form, yet it's still only my 3rd favourite Avicii song of all time, which says a lot about him. My mind's blank on commentary for this right now because I've already said so much about Avicii throughout the course of this thread, but wow this was properly amazing. When I heard the leaked demo I knew this had the potential to be seriously good, and I was proven right by the time it came out in studio quality, and broke chart records for spending 12 consecutive weeks at #1, which would have been 15 had KSHMR not released 'JAMMU'.

 

Why do I love it so much? Well it's a ready-made Thermo-chart smash. It's got all the great Avicii sounds, a seriously catchy chorus and banging drops (especially love the 2nd drop when Avicii really increases the energy). It also acted of the song of my summer and I expect it will now always remind me of the great times I had on my holiday.

Love Cheerleader but for a massive dance #1 of the year it kind of flopped in my chart :blush: Good to see Pep and Rash's best song here. Very catchy :music: Of course WFL won't be my #1 this year but I was quite surprised where it ended when I calculated the top 100 :o :thinking:

No surprise at your winner there but Rumors makes at least one great song in the top 3 :P I love a good robot vocal and the drop is nice and energetic, shame it didn't stick around for longer officially.

 

Yay at HDIYL making the top 10 too, I do like a good old formulaic Calvin track but it was a nice change of sound which made it feel really fresh for ages, overplay has killed it off a bit for me but I still do like it a lot even though it isn't in my top 5 of his tracks or anything.

I'm kinda tired of How Deep Is Your Love, but it is a lot better than Blame. That really wasn't nearly as good as the two of them could have done.

 

Rumors is listenable enough, but it's not something I would listen to willingly. Haven't heard Red Roses or Jammu.

 

Why is it that the song you rank as the worst of 2015 is infinitely better than the song you rank as the best?

Blame was quite alright but he can do so much better as How Deep proves. Red Roses is a bit different from Rumors but still recognisably Pep & Rash. Jammu I really recommend to anyone :wub: And nonono at this WFL hate :nono:

Hey Dan, sorry for the slightly late comment but I've been reading along! I never got into Waiting For Love unfortunately, but the rest of the top 10 is largely great! Rumours grew on me a lot throughout the year, and Make Me Feel Better, Cool, How Deep Is Your Love & Sweet Lovin' are all great. JAMMU is definitely your best BJSC entry this year, dunno why I didn't give it points at the time, it's really clicked with me now.

 

I also see Eric Prydz/CHVRCHES - Tether here :wub: Wish that had been more successful, such a tune </3
