Loreen, Stormzy and Mediate so far
kool~

Shine is awful. Shut Up is awful.

Never Forget You though   So happy it smashed, amazing song!

wrong opinion there

NFY smashing was amazing to see especially given its lowish debut position.

Shine is definitely their best track IMO, although Sunlight runs it close.

Above & Beyond have been catching my eye this year, I think All Over The World is my favourite so glad that was your top 10 hit.

Shine/Sunlight are indeed brilliant but King is even better, that'll be making a later appearance.

All Over The World is indeed great, Fly To New York is just slightly better for me really but good to see another fan here.

Never got 'Never Forget You personally. It's only ever been alright for me but nothing amazing like it's been made out to be. I prefer 'Lush Life' by far!

Liking 'Shut Up' and 'Shine' from the rest of those :D

'Lush Life' is starting to impact my chart now, not sure if it'll be that big for me but it's a good song. Should be big in the new year in the official chart I think.

good to hear.

Well King is still to come so I share that opinion.

You should hear Paperlight, I think you'd like it.

Years and Years and also MNEK/ZARA *.* Both really good
definitely

thanks for the comments.

had a longer day than expected so #90-81 will be coming tomorrow instead.

Commentary

Martin Garrix has really had an amazing 2015. In some ways his best year to date, as he has three entries in this year's hot 100 (his most to date). It's been quite eventful for him too, with not long ago him leaving Spinnin' Records - a very surprising move considering how he was basically their #1 priority artist but he does have his reasons. He started the year however with a free download and change in sound, with the brilliant 'Forbidden Voices'. A very well produced "instrumental" track (there are as the title suggests, some voices, but no lyrics as such), and it was a very refreshing change in sound for him as the big room sound was starting to get tiring and predictable.

Commentary

The original Queen of Rap, Missy Elliott came BACK and the world was grateful for it. Except they weren't really because the song was a massive flop everywhere, oops. That didn't stop me from loving it though, the raps flow really well and the I love the minimalistic yet banging beats. And Pharrell's rapping is iconic too, delivering lines like "I come into this bitch like liquid, drip drip" and "lyrically I'm Optimus Prime" *___*

you don't remember the two Danaelandan BJSC entries then? That's okay I guess, I've forgotten a lot of yours :heehee: 'Shut Up' is a bigg tune though :music:

thanks for the comments

RUDE  Probably because I've only qualified twice :/ I don't at all though by name, maybe I missed those contests

Hi Dan

Was a big fan of Forbidden Voices, loved the new 'swooshy' type sound, sounded really exciting unlike the tried and tested formulaic drops in his other tracks even though they were still banging. Glad he kept the sound for Don't Look Down too which was really smooth sounding and hope he keeps it up for future tracks.

Shine was a lovely track too, definitely think they do uptempo much better but Olly's voice can make anything work really, was maybe a bit too long for my liking as well but I still like hearing it.

Shine and Never Forget You are both amazing.

I haven't heard any of the rest. Apart for Shut Up, which I wish Stormzy would do.

I'm really looking forward to Martin's debut album which is rumoured to be coming out next year, if it lives up to expectations it should be 2016's Album Of The Year! (unless Avicii is releasing again next year, which I really doubt).

I do generally prefer their uptempos but 'Shine' is done really well.

Commentary

Last year this song peaked at #4 and spent 7 weeks in the chart but it re-grew on me this year when I decided it would be my final BJSC entry of the year, and went on to re-peak at #3. It is a brilliant progressive trance song (there's not enough great songs like this in the genre sadly, or I just don't know where to find them) with a lovely breathy vocal. Also love how the first half of the song is completely instrumental so that the buildup to the 2nd drop with the vocal is more of an event, and when the drop comes it hits hard!

Commentary

Disclosure have three entries in this year's chart which starts with the brilliant 'Omen', the long-awaited second Sam Smith collab following 'Latch'. Whilst it's not half as good as that, and I wasn't expecting it to be, it's still great. It being listenable for a start instantly makes it a lot better than Smith's other efforts of 2015 so that's always a good thing, and it's also good to see they have tried making 'Latch Part 2' with this song. Good effort all-round and I was glad that this managed to get the album at least one hit.

17/07/2015 08 Michael Calfan ~ Mercy 8-8-13-16-13-20-22-38-x

Commentary

It's not often you get a country n western (or is it bluegrass? I'm not knowledgable with these genres) feel in a house song, but this one certainly has that (I can't name that instrument tbh so just listen to the song and hear for yo'self) and it works well with Calfan's usual piano chords and high energy house. It's very much of the same formula as previous tunes and definitely isn't as good as 'Treasured Soul' but it's a formula that works.

Garrix was very hit and miss this year, wasn't big on Forbidden Voices nor Don't Look Down but The Only Way Is Up was amazing :music:

Great find with Juventa, definitely one of the best entries of the last contest and I agree there aren't many as good as that in the subgenre.

I much preferred Omen to Latch partly because I never liked Latch actually! Their best for me this year was Holding On which I can see performed better for you as well.

Mercy couldn't hold a candle to Treasured Soul - that was a big favourite of mine this year.

I found Omen so instant and it still sounds great today. Perhaps Sam Smith should only be allowed to release music if Disclosure (or Naughty Boy) are the producers...

I do like Holding On too, both are equally good to my wars!

Love Forbidden Voices :music: Omen is another good song that filters out Sam Smith's usual bores. Nice track from Calfan but agree not as up to Treasured Soul. Move Into Light pretty good but I think I rank it lower than the other BJSC entries you ranked lower here. WTF is ok

everything he does seems to be amazing really (although I wasn't too big on TOWIU). Loving 'Poison' a lot at the moment (which will make a later appearance in the chart)

Juventa did a lot better than I expected, good thing I randomly got back into it then decided to send it to the contest when it was on shuffle one day.

You never liked Latch? that's one of their best!!! Holding On will be making a very high appearance here, amazing tune.

Treasured Soul will be appearing a lot higher

Well Disclosure apparently had a hand in producing Writing's On The Wall so maybe not

Holding On is a lot better for me, that'll be appearing much later on in the countdwn.

Sam Smith does seem to sound good on any song with a good beat, at least you can give him that. Yep TReasured Soul is miles better, more on that later.

Commentary

You can't get more faceless than SRTW really. There's literally no information about them on the internet. And not much more for remixer Sascha Kloeber (although this is basically the original version, I don't think an 'original mix' exists. lol). Anyway this is an excellent slice of deep house which at one point looked liked it may get pushed to become a hit single but that sadly never happened. The few lyrics in this are great though as they reminisce about youth, quite fitting for the year I turned eighteen..

Commentary

Next up we have Usher, King of Relevance. Seriously it's amazing how he's still able to get big hits in 2015. 'I Don't Mind' is an undeniable jam though with the minimalist trap beat and addictive synth pattern. I also like how it's a love song with a twist, that said woman is actually a stripper but luckily Usher is absolutely okay with her banging other dudes for $$$. Also we get the ever iconic Juicy J guest rap with lewd lyrics *_*

Commentary

Oh here's Disclosure again :P 'Hourglass' was released as a buzz track before the album's release but was definitely strong enough to be a proper single. It has all the elements of a typical great Disclosure song, although 'Holding On' kinda does the job of this song better hence it being higher up. I did properly love this for a few weeks for a reason though, the production is just so fresh and SO them and the vocal works really well with it. The chorus itself is the best part of the song, I love how the lyrics are delivered. When it properly drops afterwards that is a bit of a moment too even if there's not a lot to the drop, the repetition and echo of the "hands up" lyric from the chorus does improve it thankfully.
