Five Knives - "Savages" Chart Points: 14893 2nd single, Savages Chart Run: 43-28-21-15-8-4-4-4-8-11-14-15-20-20-24-26-29-33-35-38-37-40... (22 weeks) 1H6WZ328qoE This could be the song that becomes a huge smash now that US pop radio has begun to pick up on it. Anyway, the second-highest BJSC entry kicks off the top 30, fueled by a fast rise following its top 5 placing back in August. These guys are an electro punk/electronicore band signed to the same record company AWOLNATION comes from. I chose the song for how hard it goes in the chorus, and it just keeps its momentum throughout the song. Sure, it's another one of those "if you can't join them, beat them" type of epics, but it pulls off the theme so seamlessly. I can't wait for another single from them.

Walk The Moon - "Shut Up And Dance" Chart Points: 14905 Lead single, Talking Is Hard Chart Run: 50-48-43-35-30-21-16-11-12-12-9-7-7-7-8-11-13-19-26-32-42 (21 weeks) 6JCLY0Rlx6Q There was a time when I actually wasn't feeling this song... and there was a time when I lived for this song - it's the perfect energy and feel for a carefree spring break/summer anthem. There was something about its carefree hook that led me into charting this (albeit in a very competitive week, it would have debuted a lot higher had it not been for Deorro premiering his rehash), and it eventually hypnotized me for a good chunk of the school year. I'm honestly still not over this song. I was actually surprised to see that it had been entered in BJSC because I didn't think it was going to have crossover success that easily, but I guess being one of the biggest songs of the year in the US really helped its case. I also really appreciate the video because the effects and the aesthetic were the most 80's that I have ever seen this decade.
January 19, 20169 yr Author It's no secret that the both of us are running out of time... 28.) Adele - "Hello" Chart Points: 15135 Lead single, 25 Chart Run: 17-2-1-1-2-2-3-4-6 (9+ weeks) YQHsXMglC9A Hello... It's me... I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to hear Adele's new music. This was probably the most anticipated song of 2015 and a lot of people were wondering if Adele would match the success she had with her last album. Well, she surely did not disappoint - in fact, "Hello" did that and a lot more. Giant Buzzjack hit, resonated with the the public enough to stay at #1 for two months, and helped her album shatter records set in the beginning of the millennium. Hell, it even got 1 BILLION views on VEVO - it made "Gangnam Style" seem irrelevant, and that was one of the biggest trends this decade. Just comes to show that her talent can never go unnoticed - it's gotten to the point where she can compose a song of herself breathing and it could get to #1 on the pop charts. :P Absolute insanity.
January 19, 20169 yr Author Darling I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream... 27.) Taylor Swift - "Blank Space" Chart Points: 15143 2nd single, 1989 Chart Run: 34-2-1-1-1-1-2-2-3-2-2-4-6-7-9-11-15-20-22-23-24-26-23-27-30-36-36-40-45-48-46-48-46-48 (34 weeks (26 in 2015)) e-ORhEE9VVg "Hello" and this song have two things in common; both were made by current pop juggernauts, and both were hindered in this chart due to having a chart run split between two years. To describe "Blank Space", I recall a quote from one of episode of RuPaul's Drag Race: "If you can't shade yourself, how the hell are you supposed to shade someone else?" This is among the biggest songs on my chart of all-time (it currently hangs around at #3, behind two Ariana Grande songs), with its four weeks at #1 in 2014 and some very impressive longevity to complement it. Taylor Swift plays around with the media's branding of her as Hollywood's symbolic black widow - anyone who gets a song written about them by her ends up having a dwindling career (allegedly). But there is something about how relatable it is that it doesn't have to be about some ex-boyfriend - I bring up my high school rival because any Taylor Swift song reminds me of him - and the lyrics prove that. The video also takes its place among those viewed a billion times and is IMO among the best videos of all time - Joseph Kahn is a true artist when it comes to these things.
January 19, 20169 yr Author Girls roll up, windows roll down... 26.) Britney Spears f/Iggy Azalea - "Pretty Girls" Chart Points: 15473 Lead single, TBA Chart Run: 1-1-2-3-3-4-5-9-13-19-24-29-35-42 (14 weeks) uV2uebhnqOw "Pretty Girls" was something new for Britney, and the amount of swag that she possessed in this track made it dethrone Conor when it debuted at #1. Or maybe it was just the catchy vibe. It was slated to be one of the songs of the summer but it was halted by its surprising but slightly inevitable flopping. It's a fun and catchy song with a bit of a girl power message and that's all I ever really wanted in a song like this. It's a bit of a hot mess but that's what I like about it. Hopefully Britney bounces back for the rest of album #9.
January 19, 20169 yr Author When you nod your head yes, but you wanna say no... 25.) Justin Bieber - "What Do You Mean?" Chart Points: 16171 Lead single, Purpose Chart Run: 1-1-1-1-2-5-7-10-15-20-22-25-28-33-35-40-45 (17+ weeks) DK_0jXPuIr0 I think at the time, most of the public (at least the ones that weren't Beliebers to start with) were still hating on him because he just reeks of "douche". By the time this song came out, it was marketed as his huge comeback, it was the most experimental thing he has ever done, and it just about made everyone a Belieber, but I know there were some people who preferred to hate him despite the recent spike in his music quality. Like "Sorry", "What Do You Mean?" was made to sound as experimental as "Where Are Ü Now" (the song that really revived Bieber's career), and it just makes up want to dance like no one's watching. Both the production and the lyrics are beautiful, which is something rare in a song. Maybe that's why it ended up getting four weeks at #1 here. I think it's safe to say that we're all Belieber's now, but to an extent.
January 19, 20169 yr Author It's been a while since I had even heard from you... 24.) Taylor Swift - "Style" Chart Points: 16149 3rd single, 1989 Chart Run: 38-18-8-4-4-6-7-5-5-6-8-10-15-20-24-29-31-38-42-41-44-48 (17+ weeks) -CmadmM5cOk The only Taylor Swift song in the chart to not reach #1 at all comes in the form of third single, "Style", which was kinda screwed over by all the giant debuts. It was another song that took the "Do What U Want" production and flipped it over its head, creating another 80's synth-pop sounding song. I kinda succumbed to the theories that this was about Harry Styles after listening to the lyrics more carefully - I mean, come on, "long hair slicked back"? If that doesn't sound like a Joseph wet dream then I don't know what does. For me, the song was by far the biggest standout of the album, and I think the simplistic yet hypnotic production and the anthemic "Just take me home!" like echoing after the second chorus really contributes to that. Kind of a shame that this didn't reach #1 in my chart. Or in the UK. Brits are slacking over here.
January 19, 20169 yr Author You're so pretty when you're mad... http://i.imgur.com/sWyWeYQ.jpg 23.) Zedd f/Troye Sivan - "Papercut" Chart Points: 17004 3rd single, True Colors Chart Run: 48-41-29-26-20-13-8-5-6-6-7-6-7-11-15-18-22-27-30-31-33-36... (22+ weeks) HwtljkGZJnI The second of four Zedd songs, and the first of which that wasn't given the traditional single treatment. At least in most parts of the world, that is. It's also Troye's first ever entry here. I don't know why this wasn't pushed further now that Blue Neighbourhood (and consequently, Troye himself) has become somewhat big, but it ended up charting for a bit in Australia due to him being Australian. His voice sounds euphoric and perfect for this type of a somewhat symphonic electro house track. It sounds like the dancers from Swan Lake dressed in ivory white doing a contemporary dance number and doves flying through the stage. Probably the most critically acclaimed of the entire album. I should probably chart "Bumble Bee" as well. :P Fun fact: this is the longest song to chart.
January 19, 20169 yr Author I used to hold my freak back, now I'm letting go... 22.) Demi Lovato - "Confident" Chart Points: 17043 2nd single, Confident Chart Run: 2-4-6-5-3-4-7-6-7-7-11-12-15-18... (14+ weeks) cwLRQn61oUY Once the trumpets start blaring in this song, you can't help but know that one of Demi's most epic songs (her most epic since "Heart Attack") has started. It's like Demi has walked into a room with a giant posse like in boxing matches, and she means business. It's gotten pretty apparent that Demi has improved over the years, and the singles off of her latest album have been her best in a while, so for this song to wrap up the one-two punch that she laid out this year was just the icing on the cake. With this song, you can tell that this is a newborn Demi, and with a video that features Michelle Rodriguez, you simply can't lose.
January 19, 20169 yr Apart from the rather awful Pretty Girls the rest of that section are great :music: Hello is so overrated though and puts me off liking it :nocheer:

Ellie Goulding - "On My Mind" Chart Points: 17395 Lead single, Delirium Chart Run: 4-5-2-2-2-2-4-5-8-10-14-19-22-25... (14+ weeks) H202k7KfZL0 Ellie Goulding lands her last entry here wrapping up another successful year for her. She followed up massively acclaimed "Love Me Like You Do" with this song that for me, bridges the gap between something generic and my usual Ellie fix. It's a clever pop song in its production, and it tells a really nice story about becoming smitten with someone you wouldn't expect to like - particularly someone who seems like he would be bad for you. Getting my Teen Wolf teas as we speak. It is so far Ellie's most successful track on my chart points-wise, despite it not reaching the top spot.. I'm honestly really excited for how much I can get into "Something In The Way You Move". - TOP 20 SPOILERS: - Selena Gomez has the most top 20 entries with 3; will all three make the top 10? - One BJSC entry remains. - Three artists have back-to-back entries.
January 19, 20169 yr SAVAGES <33333333 don't even need to comment anymore, you know how much I love that. Fab to see the forever underrated Style here too and Bieb/Zedd are both fab too

Some smaller albums in the forms of Froot and Everything Is 4, the latter producing one giant worldwide hit and possibly another to come. In the #11 spot is perennial flop Carly Rae Jepsen, whom everyone still probably remembers for just "Call Me Maybe". Maybe that's why not a lot of people bought it? The top 10 albums will be revealed one by one along with the top 20 songs.
January 20, 20169 yr On My Mind is indeed very clever, really glad to see that and Shut Up And Dance so high!
