2015 Peak: #49

Weeks on top 100 in 2015: 9

2014 EOY: #33

The first of five appearances for Foxes is with the closing track of the standard edition of Glorious. Peaking at #6 last year, it still had enough steam left to make this year's top 200.

#144: Sam Smith - Stay With Me

Year of release: 2014

Chart Run: {4-2-3-5-8-9-9-15-18-23-23-14-18-21-24-20-18-21-20-21-23-22-31-23-22-26-26-27-34-38-43-16-14-16-22-27-29-35-44-56-66-57-64-80}

2014 EOY: #8

A year and a half on, I'm still not sick of Stay With Me. I'm probably the only one to be fair. Anyway, as you can see from the chart run, it spent 30 consecutive weeks in my top 40 before dropping out. It then re-entered and spent an additionnal seven weeks, six of which were in 2015.

#143: G.R.L. - Lighthouse

Year of release: 2015

Chart Run: {37-32-34-41-46-51-62-57-74-96}

Peak: #32

Weeks on top 100: 10

This was the first (and ultimately only) song by the band to be released after Simone Battle's suicide on September 5, 2014. While not as good as Ugly Heart, it's still a great track, and much better than another band's swan song of the same name. Yes, G.R.L. are the second group to have their final single named "Lighthouse". Can you guess who was the first?

#142: Katy B - Crying For No Reason

2014 EOY: #2

At #2 we have my second favourite song of 2014, Katy B's Crying For No Reason. I never was much of a Katy B fan until 5AM, but that was only the beginning. For me, this is by far the thing she's done, with Turn The Music Louder (Rumble) a very distant second.

#141: Florence + The Machine - How Big How Blue How Beautiful

Year of release: 2015

Chart Run: {53-65-53-79-73-49-44-47-64-61-72-72-25-40-51-57-70-67-86}

Peak: #25

Weeks on top 100: 19

The title track for Florence + The Machine's third album lands at #141. It spent most its chart run going up and down, but never making the top 40, until the release of the album made it shoot 47 places to #25, the highest position it would reach in its run.

#140: Years & Years - Foundation

Year of release: 2015

Peak: #26

Weeks on top 100: 14

The chilling opener to Communion, Foundation was one of the six tracks I had previously heard before the album (the others being Desire, King, Worship, Eyes Shut and Shine). It entered my top 40 following the album's release, peaking at #26 before going back down.

Take Shelter and Hole in my heart good songs :D

Yes they are.

Two classics there :heart:

Also Noel and Years and Years too :)

Glad to see you're liking everything!

Hole in my Heart was quite a nice track! I thought there were better highlights than Border for me on the album (hopefully they are high on here :D )

Mr Blue Sky *.* classique.

Bills :dance: love Blank Space and love Outside even more :wub: (where is this Calvin/Taylor collab btw :unsure: )

Higher is probably Sigma's weakest track (lol Labrinth's not done well for me this era either, Jealous was his worst ever single and his vocals in Higher gives Sigma his weakest single lol, and Lab's previous single Let It Be was fairly good but not the high status of his Electronic Earth singles... )

wx8dv.jpg

He's suddenly gone quiet for almost a year now, I thought his album was supposed to be released in October.

How do you make those images by the way?

Don't Think your chart has enough Ella Henderson, MirrorMan will be coming for you :kink:

Calvin ft Ellie :heart: Taylor and that Sigma song is good too :D

I know, I'm sure he's back on already, just behaving himself. He'll let rip eventually.

Anyway, thanks for commenting!

These three songs *.*

Are all great!

Take That, Oasis and Pulp all classics :wub:

Sam Smith too :heart:

Indeed they are. I'm glad you're liking everything!

Like the Indiana song, don't mind the Sam Smith song after a couple of listens, then it gets usual boring as per from Mr Smith -_-

Good to see Rixton being appreciated here :D WOM is a fairly decent follow up from the great MAMBH, WAWTST wasn't that good and the vocals seemed to high pitched for me to get into it :|

Ready For Your Love appearing here too :o good song, does MNEK wonders with the vocals. It's aged a little for me though. That Queen classic *.*

Yeah We All Want The Same Thing wasn't excellent.

Insomnia, a true dance classic if not among the absolute best of the nineties IMO!

Definitely one of the best hits of 1996.

Thanks for commenting everybody! It's always appreciated.

#139: Dappy - Beautiful Me

Year of release: 2015

Chart Run: {23-29-41-50-53-68-56-43-43-54-65-84}

Peak: #23

Weeks on top 100: 12

After a musical hiatus which included a court case and an appearance on Celebrity Big Brother, Dappy returned to music with Beautiful Me. Obviously this wasn't very popular round here, but I quite liked it.

#138: The Weeknd - Earned It

Year of release: 2014

Chart Run: {34-28-30-36-44-62-51-88-92-94-85-x4-92}

Peak: #26

Weeks on top 100: 12

The Weeknd's first hit, this spent quite a lot of time in the chart and it was believed it would be his biggest hit. No later than the end of 2015 and Can't Feel My Face and The Hills had both outsold it, and In The Night blowing up wouldn't surprise me either.

One of the first hits of the year, Cool Kids seems all but forgotten now, but while I don't listen to it anymore, it's still a really catchy song.

Peak: #32

The fourth appearance for Years & Years is with the song which started it all for them. I didn't hear it until I heard the album, but it was a definite standout.

#135: Florence + The Machine - Ship To Wreck

Year of release: 2015

Chart Run: {55-89-28-12-17-20-33-39-47-45-44-51-59-98}

Peak: #12

Weeks on top 100: 14

The second single from How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, after week 2 Ship To Wreck looked like it would only be a #55 smash, but in the following 2 weeks it soared all the way up to #12, making it look like it was set for a lengthy top 40 stay. 35 days later, it was down to #47. After a further two weeks where it slowly regained lost ground, it might have looked like it was set to make a return to the top 40. This wasn't to be, unfortunately, as it made a U-turn and started falling rapidly. Four weeks later, it was gone.

Next up is an 80s classic by The Human League called Don't You Want Me. I discovered when it re-entered at #19 in March 2014 (one of the best chart moments ever) and it was my first personal chart number one.

#133: Sia - Chandelier

Year of release: 2014

Chart Run: {2-4-6-6-9-15-18-23-30-38-43-54-37-40-26-27-25-25-30-29-28-31-34-37-44-60-48-66-68-69-67-99-x10-84-x7-54-81}

2015 Peak: #48

Weeks on top 100 in 2015: 10

2014 EOY: #16

At #133 we have the first of four appearances for Sia with her mega-hit Chandelier. Spending 47 weeks in the top 40, it is one of the longest-running songs of all-time. And deservedly so, as it is amazing.

#132: Foxes - Holding Onto Heaven

Year of release: 2014

Chart Run: {1-2-3-2-3-5-6-7-11-13-15-18-13-16-20-26-29-26-32-33-38-48-44-59-50-52-61-69-57-65-58-58-41-42-52-52-58-70-63-69-77-89-96-98-91-92-95}

2015 Peak: #42

Weeks on top 100 in 2015: 14

2014 EOY: #12

Foxes again, this time with the marvellous Holding Onto Heaven. Having finished the last 8 months of 2014 just outside the top 40, it had enough steam to spend 14 further weeks in the top 100, and to make a second year in the end-of year chart.

#131: Duke Dumont - Won't Look Back

Year of release: 2014

Chart Run: {1-1-2-4-8-10-13-19-29-32-32-33-38-40-46-50-45-40-45-40-37-34-32-36-40-45-47-59-67-69-67-75-86-89-95-90-88-87-83-79-81-94-99}

2015 Peak: #32

Weeks on top 100 in 2015: 24

2014 EOY: #17

For me, this is Duke Dumont's best. A great beat, a reminiscence of Ride On Time, and who can forget the spectacular ending. It's a shame he followed this with The Giver (Reprise), but Ocean Drive put him back on track. I wish he'd have success again though.

I've fallen a bit behind on these :kink: but I'll full comment when you've posted the next recap :D already seeing some great tunes!!
