:puke2: #18: Drake - Hotline Bling

Chart Run: 74-69-64-53-36-17-17-8-3-4-3-5-9-11-14-14...

Drake never has had the best track record, but In 2013 Hold On, We're Going Home was #80 in my EOY, and remains a great track to this day. Until recently, it was his biggest hit, until, well, this came around. This deposed Hold On, We're Going Home to become Drake's biggest hit. Is there no justice? Hotline Bling is horrendous, and the fact I have been putting up with it for three months now makes it even more grating.

:puke2: #17: WSTRN - In2

Chart Run: 85-60-4-8-10-9...

And here we are what is currently the highest-placed song in this week's chart to appear in this countdown. In2 is terrible, although, surprisngly, considering the way their name and the song title's are written, and ML Hammer's stanning of it, it is more in a sleep-inducing way than in a earache-inducing way. Here's what Suedehead2 had to say about it in his Chart Commentary three weeks ago:

The award for offences against the English language goes this week to an outfit who style themselves WSTRN. They enter at number four with their dreary single, In2. I can only assume In1 was a deserved flop. With luck, a similar fate will befall In3. In an ideal world, it wouldn’t even exist.

Well said. Well said indeed. Unfortunately, instead of plummeting in an Alone No More-esque manner, it is still in the top 10, and doesn't look like it's going away anytime soon.

I guess NOW thought that 'Keep Up' would actually be a decent sized hit because of the "success" of 'Lamborghini', predictably they got that wrong. I was disappointed by the song anyway, JME's raps are usually a lot better..

'She Knows' was alright but nothing special, I expected it to be a lot bigger than #28 though. Clearly the public just aren't interested in Ne-Yo as an artist anymore.

As you probably know I also really hate 'Wasn't Expecting That' :puke:

looking forward to seeing what u like! :D

Hi Dan!

I was expecting She Knows to do better than it actually did, I actually completely forgot about it until now, as I was a bit stuck on what to put in 25th.

Now there's something I was expecting.

Not too big losses on your hate chart for me:

She Knows is quite good, Ne-Yo has done a lot better though and it kind of flopped in the chart.

WET is a kind of song I wasn't expecting to not hate :o it is kind of boring at the same time though.

LA (Love) verses are quite catchy but it's the "la la la la la" chorus part that I find annoying and singing about countries like Pitbull does is plain boring -_-

KSI is great as a Youtuber but Keep Up isn't that good. Lamborghini was better, but I only really like that because of the humour involved in the song.

I'd say flopped in a bit of an understatement. Like I said with Dan, I lierally forgot it existed until now.

I find immensely boring. One of the very few occasions where I think a ballad is boring, actually.

L.A. Love (La La) is quite bad, although not the worst new entry that week...

Completely forget She Knows exists, horrid song and Wasn't Expecting That is painful to listen to :puke2: Not heard the new KSI one (thankfully!)

I love L.A. Love though :kink:

So did I. Wasn't Expecting That is sleep-inducing. Lucky you, although it's on Now 92 (for whatever reason), Disc 2 Track 19. Just after Talk To Me.

^THIS *.* Towards The Sun is incredible and so underrated, by far the best song she's done this year

Bitch Better Have My Money is so awful for RiRi's standards and Nasty Freestyle is just awful noise, so happy it missed the top 40!

Agreed. Why couldn't that be a hit?

Obviously I agree with your opinion on both BBHMM and Nasty Freestyle.

Not heard the Freestyle song but can certainly relate to Bitch :puke2: if 45seconds wasn't enough of a bore at least this wasn't boring it was more of an earache. Rih has definitely not pleased me this year. Her best of this era is American Oxygen but even that one's just ok :(

Agreed, Rihanna has been terrible as of late. I couldn't care less about Anti right now.

Not 'Waiting For Love' being in your hate chart

Also like 'BBHMM' and 'Nasty Freestyle', in the case of the latter just for the lol factor but I think that Rihanna song is another really good one from her, shame it got such a bad rep.

Not to worry, no other Avicii track appears. Not even the aptly-titled Pure Grinding.

ok, WFL isn't in my top 10 Avicii but it's still a great track. I guess the very John Legend style vocals are the reason it's here? :P

It was mildly enjoyable at first, but once I got back from the holidays and started watching the music channels again, it quickly became something I didn't want to listen to and I changed channels every time it came on, and everything went down from there. I Don't Like It, I Love It went down the same route, although not far enough to appear here.

:puke2: #16: Skrillex & Diplo feat. Justin Bieber - Where Are U Now

Chart Run: 97-90-75-63-58-45-32-18-6-7-5-3-5-4-7-11-12-20-20-23-23-23-24-26-29-31-27-33-39-41-43-43-45-40-47-33-27-29

People say this was the start of Justin Bieber's redemption. No it wasn't. What Do You Mean was, as that was his first good track, which he would follow with the excellent Sorry and the quite good I'll Show You. However, he started his comeback with this horror. Skrillex is involved, so considering he made Bangarang it may not be surprising, but considering Diplo made the fantastic Lean On which charted weeks earlier you'd expect better from him. Thankfully Justin has stayed well above this standard since, and although I find Love Yourself to be duller than Thinking Out Loud, it's still enjoyable for the time being.

I'm not a fan of Hotline Bling either but I enjoy the funny vines that derive from it :heehee: I like In2. And I really enjoy Where Are Ü Now :(

:puke2: #15: Fetty Wap - Trap Queen

Chart Run: 99-75-72-60-38-29-21-20-15-12-8-8-10-16-14-13-15-18-18-19-24-27-25-22-23-27-25-26-29-33-36-42-54-52-51

At #15 we have Mr. Fetty Wap, who I suspect gets hit where it hurts shortly before he records his "music". A prime example of this habit is the atrocious Trap Queen, who spent 27 agonizing weeks in the top 40. At least his follow-up, 679, is going out quickly. It doesn't have much else going for it, however.

:puke2: #14: Fetty Wap feat. Remy Boyz - 679

Chart Run: 87-63-66-65-59-52-46-48-43-37-35-36-33-24-22-21-20-22-27-31-32

Now there's a run which gave me hope multiple times that this "song" would never break the top 40 barrier. That hope was eventually dashed completely. And while 679 is shorter than Trap Queen, and has had a shorter chart run, its lyrics and the fact it also brings the terrible Remy Boyz to attention seal the deal: it finishes a place higher than Trap Queen. The number 679 (where it should have peaked) is never uttered in the song.

I like most of these tracks so far :kink: Hotline Bling, Waiting For Love, Where Are U Now, Trap Queen among the best tracks this year!

Looking forward to the rest of this countdown where I imagine (hope) I'll be more in agreement.

Oh no I'm liking all these songs since I last commented. I take it big urban jams just aren't your thing :(

I love Hotline Bling, In2, Where Are U Now, Trap Queen & 679. I do agree with the Waiting For Love verdict though, not a fan of the Avicii-type dance music at all.

Love how my 'stanning' of a song must mean it's terrible!

:puke2: #13: Sam Feldt feat. Kimberly Anne - Show Me Love

Chart Run: 4-6-9-10-12-13-17-30-33-35-38-45-51-50-52-62-67-74-97-99-100...

And at #13 we have the umpteenrth version of Show Me Love, one which is inexplicably the highest-peaking, when the original was so much better than this coma-inducing tripe. Sam Feldt's interpretation of the classic is a dull bland turd. Well done if you manage to last a full listen without yawning. I've been feeling tired just writing about this.

:puke2: #12: Deorro x Chris Brown - Five More Hours

Chart Run: 99-95-96-88-86-4-9-11-18-21-27-31-34-37-39-44-54-55-61-66-73-90-93-100

From a song which will send you to sleep faster than 10 sleeping pills taken simultanously to a song that will make you feel you were asleep when it was go on. From the umpteenth version of Show Me Love to the umpteenth song this year with Chris Brown in it. How anyone when hearing the intro would want to hear five more seconds is beyond me.

Really Like 5 More Hours and 679 is good. Not that struck on Trap Queen (listen to the remix with female vocals Two Friends though it's much better  )

Show Me Love is bad because of the billionth sample as you mentioned. I still like it though :P

Surprisingly don't mind In2, just about find it bearable :o

Hate hate Hotline Bling, Where R U Now and Waiting For Love though, all horrors :puke2:

What's especially annoying with Waiting For Love is that Avicii used to be excellent.

I'm not a fan of Hotline Bling either but I enjoy the funny vines that derive from it :heehee: I like In2. And I really enjoy Where Are Ü Now :(

Well I'll have to disagree.

Well I hope you'll be more in agreement aswell.

Oh no I'm liking all these songs since I last commented. I take it big urban jams just aren't your thing :(

No, not really.

EW FETTY Wap :puke:

Agreed!

I love Hotline Bling, In2, Where Are U Now, Trap Queen & 679. I do agree with the Waiting For Love verdict though, not a fan of the Avicii-type dance music at all.

Love how my 'stanning' of a song must mean it's terrible!

I didn't say that. I said your stanning of the track made me expect something like German Whip or Skepta, or JME. Not something that I would have difficulty listening to withouti falling asleep.

Really Like 5 More Hours and 679 is good. Not that struck on Trap Queen (listen to the remix with female vocals Two Friends though it's much better  )

To be honest I think I'll stay away from anything Fetty Wap related. There's also a remix in France with some French rapper who manages to make the track worse. This habit of adding French vocalists to English-languge tracks had previously ruined Dear Darlin' and One Last Time.

:puke2: #11: Rihanna & Kanye West & Paul McCartney - FourFiveSeconds

Chart Run: 5-4-5-5-5-3-5-3-4-6-9-14-15-19-22-26-26-35-39-42-48-51-46-76-56-59-75-95

Nothing is more annoying than a song you've been anticipating for a long time not being up to standard. Unfortunately, that is what happened with the borefest that was FourFiveSeconds. You need to consider that the artist who made Only Girl, We Found Love, Diamonds, Russian Roulette, Don't Stop The Music, Unfaithful and others, and the man behind the iconic Live And Let Die are responsible for this thing. With help from Kanye West of course. All Day sounds quite tolerable compared to this.

ugh i hope there's actually songs i hate yet to come. FourFiveSeconds  Five Mor Hours  Show Me Lurrv

:puke2: #10: Stormzy - WickedSkengMan4

Chart Run: 18-64-80-94-98-97

And kicking off the top 10 is Stormzy with the terrbile WickedSkengMan4. To get this a chart play he pulled all the stops possible, and sadly he succeeded. Know Me From actually has some novelty enjoyment value bu this is just plain bad.

:puke2: #9: KSI feat. P Money - Lambourghini

Chart Run: 30-68-96

And at #9 we have a Youtuber basically yelling into a microphone. Lambourghini is horrid, and why anyone actually bought this thing remains a mystery.
