You are reading the top 200 tunes that have done the most successfully in my bi-weekly top 40 personal charts, i.e. using the points system. A bi-week at #40 is 1 point/sales and at #1 is 40 "sales" and so on. If you're a fan of Dance, Electro and House music and the like you'll enjoy some tunes here. We've also got a fair bit of Pop and RnB and some Rap so hopefully there's something here to please you :D a couple of other genres may make some appearances too!There's a fair bit of unknown songs here too which I've discovered when I started to subscribe to music channels back in Feb.

 

My last chart is posted on the 30th (Wednesday) and I cannot start this until after then! If you want to see a "hate chart" I'm afraid you're mistaken as I won't be posting one (and I've not made a means of recording them but you can see what I didn't like this year in the Hate Chart thread in the UK Charts forum)

  • They can have debuted in 2014 as long as they meet the rule above, so re-entries/continuations into 2015 are allowed,
  • One half-week at a position in the chart a song spends equals a "sale". A half-week at #40 is 1K and #1 is 40K, and so on.
  • The songs will be ranked by most "sold" this year, made up of a top 200 (and the ones missing the top 200 will be posted before but in no particular order),
  • Songs re-entering/continuations from 2014 to 2015 will only have its 2015 sales counted. Their 2014 and total sales will be posted but only for reference.

Er so here's last year's top 200 (this was just ranked in order of preference rather than points, I haven't got around to doing a Preference EOY for 2015 yet)

Welcome to my first year countdown! I will be posting across two weeks my top 200 tracks from over the year from 18/12/2014 until New Years Eve. For the first four days I will post the last 25 songs each day, so the first will list positions 176-200, then 151-175, etc. After the 101-200 is revealed, I will then post ten songs per day with a little comment and embedded YT videos. I will aim to post twice a day, the first post will hold five positions and in the evening I'll post the other five. The first post will be tomorrow morning which I'll post all 254 contenders, 54 of which will miss the top 200 but still hold them in my iTunes library.

Points Version

 

This counts points system from the very first BJ chart on 15th Sept 2014 to the last chart of 2014.

 

See the bi-weekly thread here.

 

I will post the top 45 best performing tracks in my bi-weekly top 25 this year. Only tracks who have peaked in the top 10 or spent 5 weeks in the chart are eligible.

 

Each position in the chart gives each song a point. For example, #25 is 1 point and #1 is 25 points. So if a song had a run like this:

 

23-18-14-12-17-20-21>7

 

It would be 3+8+12+14+9+6+5=57 points. In the case of tying scores the following are taken to account in order:

  • The one that has a higher peak, or if matched,
  • The more weeks spent, or if also matched,
  • The higher debut, or if matched,
  • The oldest (earliest) debut, or if matched,
  • Ranked alphabetically (artist then title, which is unlikely that it will ever come to that :P)
They will be ranked by points and will post 10 per day (5 per morning and evening) and on the fifth day I will do a slow countdown of the top 5 in similar fashion to my 2014 Countdown.

 

I will post the first 5 (41-45) tomorrow morning with chart run and opinions as well as a YouTube video :P

IKR :drama: I even tweeted my frustration to Nicky a couple of times but he's not replied :lol: I also tweeted Avicii too. At least Heaven is getting a release or at least an inclusion to the rumoured next year's album!

I probably am missing out loads but I haven't kept a record of music videos which have interested me and most of these come from songs that charted in my top 40. I like the videos that have an interesting or funny storyline, or use of visual effects or videos that go perfectly with the song.

When I first watched this I knew it was going to be good as it's an apolalyptic video where the world is going to end. The storyline is the best here: Ariana is actually wearing full clothed :o and she goes past all the officials in order to reach the top of the building and kiss her boyfriend for the last time until the world ends in a fireball. There's a lot of pink and purple which just looks amazing and I adore disaster films and the song, well, you'll know my love for the song later on! I feel this is an underrated video from Ariana :(

Love the LMLY video, they really delivered with both videos this year, all so fun. They're so rewatchable too and the girls' personalities really shine through, I've become a big fan this era.

 

Always loved the Make Me Feel Better video, I'm a sucker for synchronised dancing anyway and some of the moves were great and it was made all the better with sunny backdrops, pure summer vibes :wub:

 

Hotline Bling video is gonna be an iconic one I think, very cringe but so funny to watch, won't be busting out any of his moves at parties though...

Another one of my favourite artists who has underperformed here is Knife Party with their latest EP. I stanned for most of their previous work. In fact as I remember every EP so far had at least one 10/10 track apart from this one which hasn't even got an 8 :( I guess I've only listened to it a couple of times but it's not got the sound I'm used to of them that I get hooked on!

This is actually a rather good album from an artist who's discography I really should check more out of as the singles are great. The Thrill was an excellent piece of work here as Two Minds at least didn't flop and its still very good! The rest of the tracks are good to ok, I wasn't a big fan of the reboot of Into The Past though :nocheer:
