I agree but this album is still amazing. I think #TRUE is a 9.5/10 whereas this one is a 9/10 on average.

yeah, everyone seems to hate Delirium saying she's bland and the album is too long or something :(

 

Some good tracks on Stories but just so lifeless really, was incredibly disappointing following the freshness of True :(

Albums that are too long are only bad if the album is bad IMO :lol:

I thought it was life giving actually :heehee: but yeah #TRUE is still the better one.

Avicii & Alesso :heart: as much as I adored their singles I gotta be honest I was disappointed by both albums :/

It's my least favourite track on it yes but it doesn't mean I don't like it :P it's a nice track but there are more catchier songs that push it down my ranking :)

2015 EOY Chart Rules

• The songs must have appeared in at least one chart in 2015,
• They can have debuted in 2014 as long as they meet the rule above, so re-entries/continuations into 2015 are allowed,
• One half-week at a position in the chart a song spends equals a "sale". A half-week at #40 is 1K and #1 is 40K, and so on.
• The songs will be ranked by most "sold" this year, made up of a top 200 (and the ones missing the top 200 will be posted before but in no particular order),
• Songs re-entering/continuations from 2014 to 2015 will only have its 2015 sales counted. Their 2014 and total sales will be posted but only for reference.

So tomorrow, err, later today :unsure: is the 30th December which is a Wednesday and that means the last chart of the year! As soon as it is published I can finish the final top 200 (I have been compiling it behind the scenes and only have to add the extra sales (points) gained in the last chart. Most Overperforming Artists :o

 

Here are some of the most personal overperforming artists this year who I was not expecting to enjoy as much as I did with their music this year:

 

Alesso

 

 

Before this year I did enjoy a few Alesso songs a lot and then it got to the point where I felt like I should listen to the album, Forever. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it, even becoming my second favourite album of the year :wub:

 

Ellie Goulding

 

 

Before this year I liked the odd chart single from Ellie and during the summer I decided to listen to her whole discography. The album tracks didn't really stand out to me as much as the singles but when Delirium came out I listened to it and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was *.* it even managed to reach #5 in my album EOY this year and several tracks appeared in my chart! :o

 

Justin Bieber

 

 

If everyone did an Overperforming Artists in their EOY I'm sure the Biebz would be in most people's lists, because he has gone from awful, to OK as featured artist m, to good occasionally and this year he has yet to make a bad song which is a complete turnaround for him! He's used tropic house and other dance influences which I picked up, from the Where Are Ü Now feature with Jack Ü all the way up to Love Yourself which isn't even dance! His album this year, Purpose also managed to be just as good, with tracks like Children managing to be a hit in my chart, and every track I heard on it was at least a 6 or higher! :winner:

 

Little Mix

 

 

Apart from their X Factor winning #1 cover Cannonball (not a fan of the original so maybe that's why) most of their singles have been approved by me from very good to bop :music: I did listen to their discography in the summer but like Ellie Goulding the album tracks didn't really hit me. Also like Ellie Goulding, this year's album Get Weird was packed with some great tracks which could easily be singles in future.

I fall for the dancy production in his songs and his vocal maturity I think is what did it!

367 songs (providing I haven't made any mistakes which is likely :kink: ) have charted in my top 25/30/40 this year, these include re-entries from 2014 :o Here are #201-#367 lazily copy/pasted from my spreadsheet with the debut year and sales :P

 

I'll be posting the chart runs for the top 200. Each day where possible I will be posting the #151-200 and then the #101-150 blocks, then I'll do them in blocks of 10 each day until we get to the top 40, as I'll be loving the songs even more by then and they will be wanting individual commentaries :funky:

 

*By the way, Can't Catch Me did not reach the top 40 but did reach #41 when I expanded the chart to a top 45 for Stories tracks. Only songs reaching the top 40 get sales added so this is the only track to get 0 sales! You can see the chart run info for every song in my archive (it still needs a little tidying up but everything should be there)

 

Oh and remember if you're not familiar with my chart, I post two charts per week, so each position in the chart run is half a week and the end number is the total half weeks, so half of that number is the actual weeks!

I like Famous too, it is a bit bratty and loud but it is REALLY catchy and the video was sso much fun with all the zombies and stuff, shame it put a stop to any future singles maybe getting released..

Big fan of Where Are U Now here, definitely too low on your list, it has a fantastic instrumental and feels a lot more heartfelt than anything else JB had done. Definitely worked for me.

 

I like Famous too, it is a bit bratty and loud but it is REALLY catchy and the video was sso much fun with all the zombies and stuff, shame it put a stop to any future singles maybe getting released..

I still really like it though! Not at first, it was never bad or anything but the production didn't really interest me until later on. Eventually the vocals started to drag and the production a bit too repetitive but still a great song!

Yeah the fact that there's 387 songs leaves little room for so many tracks not making the top 200! :cry:

As said earlier HDIYL doesn't really excite me but the vocals are very nice (remix was better though :music: ) Pep and Rash songs seem to sound too similar for me and don't really hit me much but I did try to get into CSP! :(

 

SoG is low here for a similar reason to HDIYL. And FABD is perhaps Avicii's weakest single ever so he'll sure reedeem himself later on :dance: 679 is Fetty Wap which I'm not a big fan of (Trap Queen grew but it's still not that good apart from the remix later on :dance:) 679 did grow to me quite a bit so it's done fairly well here imo.

I've somehow managed to include 2014 only charting songs here :drama: I've removed the errors from this section but it means some below top 200 I listed earlier are actually top 200 :lol:

Again songs re-entering into 2015 will have their 2015 run in orange with year sales comparisons at the end of the run.

 

Also note that the Christmas entries have a disadvantage as they are "forced" to drop out after Christmas is over. However, most of them re-enter in following years which is definitely an advantage! :lol:

 

In the lowest quarter of the top 200 Doing It just misses out in the top 150. Also here is the Alex Schulz remix of Goodbye sent in BJSC that DNQd and some Avicii album tracks such as Somewhere In Stockholm, Touch Me, Pure Grinding, For A Better Day (KSHMR Remix) and the Avicii by Avicii version of The Nights which was pretty good but the original will do a lot better here later :dance:

 

Joe Stone's follow up to The Party enters at #158 with Freak and Owl City Christmas song enters at #159 on 2015 sales alone. Also here is the funky Hey QT which I lost interest in fairly quickly :( a couple of Kygo tracks including Stay (currently in top 15!) and Here For You. We've not had much of Afrojack at all this year (#SummerThing is the only song I've come across) so both of those points mean an inclusion on this list. What happened to the slaying a few years ago with As Your Friend, The Spark and Ten Feet Tall? :( :music:

 

DJ Fresh

 

Also not much activity apart from Gravity which was rather weak compared to his Nextlevelism era </3 he used to be brilliant and one of my favourite artists but he let the side down this year :nocheer:

It's been another successful year for Jason again but not so much for me who is usually a big fan of his stuff. They've all been very good singles but just not as high standard as all his other eras :( can he redeem himself this year? :thinking:

 

Knife Party

 

I'm a big fan of this EDM duo :music: I hyped their comeback Trigger Warning but the tracks were rather average for them. Hoping this is just a short break and they return to the slaying usual this year maybe :D

 

Matrix and Futurebound

 

Back a few years and these guys enter my music faves with the incredibly amazing Magnetic Eyes top 40 hit, and then again with Control in 2014 which was just as amazing :wub: :music: their "comeback" with Happy Alone didn't really sound like them at all. To have three brilliant tracks and then a poor one is quite a step down tbh :(

 

Olly Murs

 

Up has really been the only decent track by Olly this year. He's had smashes like PDLMG and HSAB amongst others but this year nothing's caught me. Will 2016 be the year of Olly? :unsure:

 

Owl City

 

So here we have my favourite artist and it's a shame to put him here :( the latest album Mobile Orchestra seemed not as good as his usual stuff, there's quite a few great songs on it but not as good as he is usually! Also he's announced a new project coming up this year. Would be interested to see how that goes :w00t:

 

Rihanna

 

Well what a disappointment you were this year RiRi :nono: like Anakin Skywalker she was one of the best in pop for years and now she's turned to the Dark Side with the bore bore seconds of borewood and Bitch You're Killing My Ears! America man Oxygen was ok at least. But really, just OK? :/ the album hasn't saved her soul either it would seem, as it's been a non event for months now with no release. It's even become a meme similar to When Is The New Site Coming? that's how bad this era is. :no:

Getting out the time machine again :magic: the first few singles from this gal years ago Hot Right Now, RIP, How We Do, Radioactive, all :music: and ORA was a great album, this year we just have weak Poison and the yeah-it's-fairly-good Body On Me. This is the guy responsible for some top choonage with Clarity, Stay The Night and Find You just to name a few. He had I Want You To Know earlier this year which was great, but it was the album that let it down really. It was still quite good but "quite good" isn't the response I was hoping to make for it. Another error brings up Threads to #150. Also Five More Hours is brought up to #200 :D (I'll check the top 100 for accidental 2014 only songs before I post them :kink:)

 

Fun fact: LarsM's Over was not meant to be a dropout but I had a technical error that meant I had lost it from that chart so unfortunately its run had to end there :(

 

Some BJSC entries here, including Danaelanda's highest Found Your Love just missing on the top 100, Aquafina's Somebody Like You, Joedonia's Bad, Aeroche's HEARTSKIP and Yehesi's Windfall. There's more re-entering from 2014 to 2015 songs here too. The Young Bombs remix of Beaverdonia's War Paint is here and unfortunately the forced dropout for the Levels Christmas remix means it is a lot lower than it would have been if it had its full run! :cry:

Glad to see Prayer In C sneaking into 2015 for you too, one of my favourite dance tracks of all time now, just so relaxing and perfectly executed.

 

Be Right There is also a great dance track, admittedly a bit generic but it brings so much energy and some killer vocals which makes me love it anyway, glad it hit the top 10 officially but a bit gutted it fell away so fast.
