Biography

British rapper Jermaine Scott (aka Wretch 32) rose out of London’s Tiverton Estate projects in Tottenham, along with his peers Devlin, Chipmunk, Kano, Stormzy, and Skepta. In the latter half of the 2000s, he joined grime collectives Combination Chain Gang and the Movement, and put out solo efforts as mixtapes. With 2007’s Teacher’s Training Day and 2008’s Wretchrospective, Wretch 32 started showing mainstream potential, cleverly pairing hip-hop and grime in his songs. Ministry of Sound signed him by the decade's end, and Wretch's first major-label single, "Traktor," was released in January 2011, debuting at number five on the U.K. singles chart. His second studio album, Black and White, followed in mid-2011 preceded by two singles, the Stone Roses-sampling "Unorthodox" and the U.K. number one single "Don't Go." 2012 saw Wretch fronting a campaign for Adidas for the 2012 London Olympics while also heading out on tour with Example, the mixtape Wretchercise also appeared at the end of the year and featured guest spots from the likes of Kano, Krept, and Chip. While working on his third studio album, Wretch premiered two singles in 2013 -- "Blackout" and "Doing OK" -- and revealed he had been working with producer Knox Brown. After a year out of the spotlight, he returned in November 2014 with the single "6 Words," which reached number eight in the U.K. charts. Wretch also appeared in 2015 on the U.K. Top 5 single "IN2" by WSTRN, while continuing to work on his third album, Growing Over Life, which was slated for a 2016 release. - iTunes

Biography

With a name inspired by a haunting and lucid dream related to her by her mother, Foxes is the solo electro-pop project of Southampton, U.K.-born singer/songwriter Louisa Rose Allen. While her early singles -- from 2012's "Echo" right through to February 2013's "Clarity," her Billboard-charting collaboration with German producer Zedd -- faithfully trod a dance-pop path, there was a quirky and cultured approach to her material that betrayed a nod to similarly minded predecessors such as Kate Bush and Florence + the Machine. Allen had moved to London, aged 18, before enrolling in and subsequently leaving a music theory-focused course. Ironically, this in turn allowed her to spend more time crafting the songs that she would ultimately issue as singles on the transatlantic indie label Neon Gold and the Sony imprint Sign of the Times. A careful and slow-burning promotional campaign saw her music feature in the U.S. teen drama Gossip Girl, while Allen gradually began to be touted by an increasing number of blogs during 2012. Despite having performed relatively few gigs up until that point, in October 2012 she toured in support of labelmate Marina & the Diamonds. Early the following year the Andy C remix of "Right Here" -- her collaboration with U.K. drum'n'bass act Rudimental -- crept into the U.K. Top 75 singles chart. Graduating from single tracks to EP releases, Foxes issued the Warrior EP in late 2012, which spawned the well-circulated hit "Youth." "Youth" was remixed enough to warrant a remix collection, and that song, too, was licensed for television and various other promotions. Allen worked off of the success she'd been building toward the completion of her debut full-length, Glorious. Released in May 2014, following the Top Ten placement of its second single, "Let Go for Tonight," the album peaked at number five on the U.K. chart. Within a year, Allen issued "Body Talk," the Top 25 first single from her second album, All I Need. - iTunes

Biography

Elena Jane "Ellie" Goulding (born 30 December 1986) is an English singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Lyonshall, Herefordshire. Her career began when she met record producer Starsmith and Frankmusik, and she was later spotted by Jamie Lillywhite, who later became her manager and A&R. After signing to Polydor Records in July 2009, Goulding released her debut extended play, An Introduction to Ellie Goulding, later that year.

In 2010, she became the second artist to both top the BBC's annual Sound of... poll and win the Critics' Choice Award at the Brit Awards in the same year. Goulding released her debut studio album, Lights, in 2010. The album debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and has sold over 850,000 copies in the UK. Her cover of Elton John's "Your Song" reached number two in the UK in December 2010 and on 29 April 2011 she performed the song at the wedding reception of Prince William and Catherine Middleton at Buckingham Palace. The album's title track, "Lights", was released in the US in March 2011, and peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Goulding's second album Halcyon was released in October 2012, "Anything Could Happen" preceded the album as the lead single. Halcyon debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart, and, after 65 weeks, reached number one. Halcyon debuted at number nine on the Billboard 200 Chart, her first top ten debut in the United States. Halcyon Days, a repackaged edition of Halcyon, was released on 23 August 2013, it included new singles including "Burn", which became her first UK number-one single in the same month. At the 2014 BRIT Awards she received the award for Best British Female. By the end of 2013, she has sold an estimated 4 million albums and 15 million singles worldwide. - Wikipedia

Biography

Justin Drew Bieber (/ˈbiːbər/; born March 1, 1994) is a Canadian singer and songwriter. Bieber's current manager, Scooter Braun, first discovered him through his YouTube videos in 2007. Braun, as noted, was impressed with the videos resulting in contacting Bieber's mother, Patricia Mallette, about wanting to work with his musical abilities. Moreover, him having convinced his mother, Braun arranged for Bieber to meet with singer-songwriter, Usher, in Atlanta, Georgia. As a result, Bieber was signed to RBMG, a record label based in Atlanta, then to Island Records -- part of Def Jam Records -- with a recording contract offered by a prominent record executive, L.A. Reid.

He released his debut EP, My World, in November 2009. It has been certified platinum in the United States. He became the first artist to have seven songs from a debut record to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. Bieber released his first full-length studio album, My World 2.0, in March 2010. It debuted at or near number one in several countries and was certified platinum in the United States. It was preceded by the single, "Baby", which is also, as of July 2014, the YouTube video with the most dislikes, and the most views on a Vevo platform. He followed up the release of his debut album with his first headlining tour, the My World Tour, the remix album titled, My Worlds Acoustic, and Never Say Never – The Remixes, and the 3D biopic-concert film Justin Bieber: Never Say Never. Biography

A teen pop artist who broke records with his debut single, singer and songwriter Shawn Mendes was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. After posting a series of his cover versions to various video-sharing sites, Mendes earned himself a dedicated following of viewers. His mix of Ed Sheeran's style and Justin Bieber's also appealed to Island Records, who signed Mendes in 2014. That same year they released the then-15-year-old's debut single "Life of the Party." American radio initially ignored it, but the track entered the Billboard 100 singles chart at number 24, making Mendes the youngest artist to land a debut single in the Top 25. The song was also included on Mendes' four-track Island debut, The Shawn Mendes EP. The EP performed very well, reaching number five on the Billboard charts on its way toward sales of over 100,000, setting the stage for his full-length debut, Handwritten, in the spring of 2015. Preceded by the single "Something Big," Handwritten appeared to strong sales, debuting at number one in both Canada and the U.S. In 2015, his single "Believe" landed on the soundtrack for the Disney Channel fantasy musical Descendants. - iTunes

Biography

With a "cheeky chappy" persona to match Robbie Williams and vocals reminiscent of original Pop Idol Will Young, former call-center worker Olly Murs was one of the success stories of the 2009 season of The X Factor, finishing runner-up to Joe McElderry in the hotly contested final. Born in Essex in 1984, Murs showed little interest in singing while at school, focusing his attention on football, where he played for the school team and later semi-professionally for local non-league team Witham Town. In 2007, he appeared on Deal or No Deal, where he won a lowly £10, but it was his performance of Stevie Wonder's "Superstition" on the sixth series of The X Factor that enabled him to show off his talents. Mentored by Simon Cowell in the live stages, he wowed judges with renditions of songs by the Beatles, Queen, and George Michael and soon became the favorite to win the show. However, despite a duet with musical hero Robbie Williams in the final, Murs finished a respectable second. In 2010, he signed a six-figure record deal with Epic/Syco Music and embarked on the sold-out X Factor arena tour. After being personally invited by Williams to play at the televised charity football event Soccer Aid, Murs released his first single, the Jason Mraz-inspired "Please Don't Let Me Go," in August. His debut album, featuring songs written by Eg White, Scouting for Girls' Roy Stride, and Wayne Hector, was released in 2010. The record produced three U.K. Top 20 singles, with "Thinking of Me" and "Heart on My Sleeve" racking up chart positions alongside the debut number one "Please Don't Let Me Go."

Murs took a short break from his musical career in late 2011 to present the eighth season of The Xtra Factor — a spinoff behind-the-scenes look at The X Factor — returning to the program that shot him to fame. His experience with the dynamics involved in the show and his upbeat character made him a firm favorite with the audience — as well as flirty co-presenter Caroline Flack. During the recording of each show, Murs was working on songs for his second album with writers Steve Robson (Lily Allen, James Morrison) and Claude Kelly (Kelly Clarkson, Backstreet Boys). The first single from his second record, "Heart Skips a Beat," featuring U.K. hip-hop duo Rizzle Kicks, was released in summer 2011 and swiftly became a hit. The full release, In Case You Didn't Know, followed in November and secured his first U.K. number one album. The following year, Murs opened for sprightly boy band One Direction on their North American tour and re-released the "Heart Skips a Beat" single, replacing Rizzle Kicks with Philadelphia rap duo Chiddy Bang, to coincide with the shows. Also in 2012, Murs released his third studio album, Right Place Right Time, which included the single "Troublemaker," featuring rapper Flo Rida. - Jon O'Brien & Scott Kerr, Rovi / iTunes

Shahid Khan (born 13 March 1985), often credited by his artist and production name Naughty Boy, is a British DJ, songwriter, record producer and musician. In 2012, Khan signed a three-year publishing deal with Sony ATV, as well as a recording contract to release one album under Virgin EMI Records. His debut album peaked at number two in the UK.
