Definitely your best entry for me (though we've given you top marks a couple of other times I think), the celtic sound always gets to me.

 

Love how the vocals finally arrive so late in the song too.

Both Tonight Alive and Against The Current were recycled from Séyetana. They also both beat the nation's current entry, Nao Hiiraji 'Requiem' which is at #26. One of the most surprising point swaps of the contest was between us and Séyetana. We exchanged 13 points for our entries.

 

Wow, lay off a bit on the harsh reality, it sounds like such a failure on my part when you say it like that with the fact that I got outpeaked twice. :lol: I need justice. Seriously, all three of my entries involved deserved to do better than they got and both the recycles are inferior :angry:

BJSC 82: Results Commentary

 

 

First Danaelanda-hosted main contest sees an Ethanola win and Paperwhite giving us a mid-table finish

 

There are quite a lot of firsts this contest. Let's get the obvious one out of the way first - this was the first contest that Danaelanda was able to host as we finished 3rd last contest and the winning nation Deandria did not have sufficient funds to host the contest themselves (I tell you, a lot of fictional money is needed to host this!!) and Aeroche who finished in 2nd also passed it on because of new rules giving potential first-time hosting nations priority once the winner has declined.

 

This also meant for the first time in a while there was no opportunity for ourselves to autoqualify with our own entry, though as it turned out we didn't need it as we qualified with ease. We finished 6th with 85 points. We didn't do quite so well in the final however, finishing 22nd with 171 points. It's still a lot better than a few of our recent finishes and so I'm calling this a moderate success.

 

The hilight of the contest (:basil:) though had to be me announcing that Ethan had won the contest. I'd have never guessed that one of his 8 minute tracks would eventually win the thing one day but it happened and I'm so happy it did! Ethanola will be passed on the hosting baton in April for BJSC 83 after a month dedicated to the 10th anniversary of Buzzjack with a special contest.

 

The nation scored 360 points in the final, not quite the 400 from last contest's winning entry but still an impressive score. It was their 24th entry too which means they'll be celebrating their 25th entry with an auto-qualification. Unsurprisingly it is their biggest points total by a large margin, beating their previous best of 'Lost You' which finished 3rd for them.

As well as Ethanola's historic win the rest of the top 6 also scored personal bests. In order from 2nd to 6th they were Vülkyria, Yehesi, Avalonia, Pupok and Jadakissnia. The latter improve their best by just a single position but the others have more significant personal best increases.

 

The rest

 

The rest of the top 10 saw the returns of New Lexico, Fljotavik, D'yermak'er and FARC to the top 10. All 4 nations except D'yermak'er previously disqualified in the previous contest making this especially impressive.

 

Mulgracia finish in 11th with 227 points despite not a single set of +18 points being given to them. In terms of maximum scores Yehesi got the most of them with seven. Winners Ethanola got five and Fljotavik had four. The rest had less than that.

 

Thirteen countries ended up scoring 200 or more points. This includes N DNTN in 13th with exactly 200 and also without a single maximum score given.

 

Taahino nearly disqualified, finishing 20th in their semi final. It seemed that most of their fans were in the opposite semi though as they experience a big gain, finishing in 15th - their best to date. Considering the poor quality of the song I now wish I had fixed it for the song to DNQ [i kid of course, we ain't Aquafina].

 

Other highlights:

• St. Burbia score a new personal best finishing in 23rd with Jorja Smith.

• The autoqualifiers don't perform particularly well - Deandria finish in 24th and Aeroche in a lowly 36th, a relative huge flop for them.

• Pagasa score a minor hit with their first BJSC attempt - they finish in 30th having sent KING.

• Three countries fail to pass the 100-point mark. Greenfroze, Kluminican Republic and Sandebörg bring up the rear in 40th-42nd respectively. It looks like Sandebörg have ran out of bribe money, having spent it all to get in the final. :heehee:

Not really. Vülkyria too improve our best by just a single position. We previously came 3rd when Anine Stang took the bronze for Letland in BJSC 32. Also worth of note "You Got Me Baby" was also the entry most voted for during Semifinal 1 (18 votes, equaling Ethanola's on SF2) and Final (34 votes, followed by 32 for Yehesi and Pupok and '''only''' 31 for Ethanola).

for our third entry of the year we send Maceo Plex, famous for making tech house. This is slightly different for him though and much better than his other output. I'm not expecting this to do particularly well but I seriously love this song right now so hopefully it gets a few fans.
