Just like in the UK, Drake's run at #1 is cut short from breaking the record. 'Lean On' was an NZ chart-topper last year so 'Cold Water' is Major Lazer's second #1. 'In My Blood' finally enters for The Veronicas, giving them only their 8th top 40 hit in New Zealand. 'Heathens' is already top 10 and is the current #1 on NZ iTunes, overtaking 'Cold Water' just in the last few hours. Rihanna's 'Love On The Brain' is #6 on iTunes, make it the official next single plz. On the albums, Blue Neighbourhood actually gets a new peak at #3, having originally only debuted at #9! I'm not sure what's responsible for the boost but yay.

Using a different source so excuse the change in formatting. The Weeknd scores his third top 5 hit, following the #1 Can't Feel My Face and #2 The Hills. The Chainsmokers are still looking unbeatable for the time being but Starboy is now ahead on iTunes and #2 on Spotify. Passenger scores his first #1 album; All The Little Lights peaked at #9 followed by Whispers at #3. Somewhat surprisingly, Shawn Mendes' first album only peaked at #18, although I'm fairly sure Life Of The Party had already been a proper top-ten hit, so that's strange because his debut charted much higher in countries where he hadn't had a hit. He very much improves on that anyway, as Illuminate enters at #2.

The singles chart on the upcoming weeks would be pretty interesting especially on The Weeknd Starboy, James Arthur Say You Won't Let Go, and the new entry from Bruno Mars 24K Magic.

 

As of now Starboy and Closer currently at #3 and #5 on iTunes NZ chart, while on Spotify NZ Closer (43 180) & Starboy (41 515) daily play being incredibly close to each other by just less than 2K difference and Closer was already losing the stream on the past couple of weeks. So I think on this Friday there would be a close battle among the contender Closer and Starboy to crown the top.

 

James Arthur Say You Won't Let Go being topped the iTunes NZ chart for the past few days, and rapidly gain the stream basically everywhere (Sidebar: It's currently #1 in Spotify Ireland, and surprisingly it make top 70 appearance on Spotify US and Canada as well) and it's a no exception for New Zealand which currently placed at #8 (26 444) on Spotify NZ daily play chart. So yeah he's most likely guarantee to make the Top 10 this Friday.

 

No doubt Bruno Mars would likely to have at least a top 20 debut this Friday, as 24K currently at #2 on iTunes, and rapidly climb on Spotify on #14 (22 417).

Revolution Radio is Green Day's third #1 album, the other two being Dookie and 21st Century Breakdown. Surprisingly American Idiot only peaked at #2. Norah Jones' first three albums were all #1s but this is her best result since then, with her other two albums charting at #10 and #11. And OneRepublic have their best charting album since their debut, which peaked at #3. Native peaked at #12 and Waking Up somehow missed the top 40 entirely, despite them having four top 40 singles from it.

Say You Won't Let Go steep rise to #3 :o, after it already hit #1 in UK, Ireland and Australia. Currently it's #3 on Spotify New Zealand and just around 6K and 10K difference between Closer and Starboy, which means it's around 4K difference between Closer and Starboy. So this Friday #1 could be anyone games between The Weeknd and The Chainsmokers.

Congratulation for Starboy to finally hit the #1 on NZ after being stuck at #2 for two weeks. :dance:

 

James Arthur Say You Won't Let Go staying at #3, although it was being the one of the bullet tracks for third consecutive weeks since its top 40 debut two weeks ago as evidence on the SYWLG performance in Spotify. On the albums chart, Kings of Leon earn their fifth straight #1 album, just like in the UK. The Naked and Famous debuting at #15 is a serious disappointment. :( Their other two albums peaked at #1 and #4.
