Why would Shawn's run be short lived? :P Not like it's a frontloaded fanbase release :heehee:

I just feel its one of those tracks that could only sustain a week at the top, i might be proven wrong.

Bit of a random moment still got some Xmas smilies on the right as I type this post

If it does only get a week, I'm quite sure Justin wouldn't knock it off, not like his sales are increasing! I'm not getting my hopes up for it to go to #1 anyway.

Dizzee Rascal and High Contrast actually :P (with DJ Fresh as the lead artist)

Oops :( -_- never mind they all sound the same

I think (hope) Zara Larsson could go to #1 on release week, already doing great on Spotify, must have had like 4 months of preorders which should count for something

But she is currently only 978 at present...not sure what that would equate too.

I think Lush Life has the potential to be very big but its not getting any airplay right now so it certainly won't reach #1 in its opening sales week.

'Lush Life' is a weird one. It has a pre-order and it's available to stream but it's like they're treating it like an OA/OS release by embargoing it with radio. I don't see the point.
Neither do i - if it's available on Spotify it's basically released but obv not sent to radio yet until this Friday, the high seems a bit pointless.
Two January surprises spring to mind: Iron Maiden getting to No 1 in 1990 with Bring Your Daughter to The Slaughter and Manic Street Preachers Masses Against The Classes in 1999

Those were the days! 2 great tracks. :)

I think DJ Fresh has absolutely no chance of making the top 10, let alone #1. It'll be lucky to go top 40 at the moment.

Shawn Mendes seems really likely to be the first new #1 of 2016. It could spend a few weeks at #1 too as there's nothing going on until the BRITS which isn't on until the end of February.

I'm refusing to let myself get too excited at the prospect of Stitches making #1 although I would really love it. Hopefully a-list airplay from Radio 1 has a big effect over the week when it begins tomorrow!
the prospect of that feeble mumford & sons dirge for 10-year-olds getting anywhere near the top spot is frankly too horrific to contemplate~

 oh come on

didn't know Zara Larsson didn't have airplay :(

can someone with twitter ask Mint Royale how Bowie is doing?? :D

I miss the surprise of January as well in the singles chart, my big memory was Steps finally going to number 1 with Tragedy. Singles chart is so boring at the moment which isnt heped by the fact i dont like any of Biebers singles.
The Zara Larsson track isn't very good and she sounds like a rip off from Rihanna.

Just imagine if Rihanna was still capable of making music this good.
