Madge Explains Crucifix

When Madonna appeared on a sparkling cross during her Confessions tour, a certain amount of controversy was provoked.

Some condemned her crucifixion scene as blasphemous.

But now the tour is over, Madge has said that many simply misunderstood the meaning.

In a statement she said: "There is a segment in my show where three of my dancers 'confess' or share harrowing experiences from their childhood that they ultimately overcame.

"My 'confession' follows and takes place on a crucifix that I ultimately come down from.

The Confessions Tour

"This is not a mocking of the Church. It is no different than a person wearing a cross or 'taking up the cross' as it says in the Bible.

"My performance is neither anti-Christian, sacrilegious or blasphemous. Rather, it is my plea to the audience to encourage mankind to help one another and to see the world as a unified whole.

"I believe in my heart that if Jesus were alive today he would be doing the same thing.

Madge concluded: "Please do not pass judgement without seeing my show."

Madonna definitely didn't mock "church and Jesus Christ". I think the crucifixtion scene reminds us the "love". Madonna just wanted to tell us to love one another and help the needs especially people in the war with the crucifixtion performance.

Many people gave bad comments on this performance without saw her show before. It is not fair. I think people don't want to understand her, they always like to attack her.

Well said.

People are making a big deal about it!!! When its not.

As a Christian myself, i am quite sad to see how fellow believers have reacted! We're not meant to judge or take matters into our own hands i.e protestors! I think Madonna used the crucifixtion to display the right messages and any true chritian should realise that!
